There is no Bestiality in the game.
All sexual content, be it homosexual, lesbian, bisexual, straight, financial, casual or serious, is all completely optional and only occurs at the players direction.
Actually this is a bit of an untruth. Zevran hits on you constantly (if you are male) unless you thoroughly shoot him down. I didn't at first (all the options sounded like I was a bible-thumper) and for the next 5 hours of gameplay, everytime I click on him, his greeting was hitting on me. Thankfully another dialogue came up eventually that said something like "Let's just be friends".
But no, you DO get a healthy dose of ****** without "seeking it out".
Mind you, that's quite like if you met someone who behaves like Zevran in reality.
But that's not technically the content in question.

If you don't like these choices, then don't choose them.
I find it odd that people have no qualms that the game allows you to murder people and play an evil character, but people take offense at the notion the game gives the option of homosexual encounters.
Which is worse, gay sex or murder?
I'm a straight Christian, and I have no qualms with Bioware allowing such options in a game. Different players can play the game however they choose to do so.

I think such an approach is commendable but with it comes the risk that such issues will thrust the developers into the political/social arena. Sometimes its better to be more subtle and thereby make no waves.
Whatever the case, my biggest disappointed with the game is that my request for a surprise at the Brothel did not end up being multiple women with just me! I mean, I spent so much money there, used every girl they hand - you would think they would one time offer me a group deal - you know? lol

I cast Summon Woo.
Now, because it'll happen anyway and why wait 10+ pages of a thread for the lock to come?

Depends on whether you see that change as positive or not. Movies for a long time have engaged on social issues that have divided people but games not as much. Bioware in DAO is 'playing' on current real life themes that involve racism, sexuality, religion, disparity between poor and rich etc.

Not from an artistic standpoint. Not in the slightest.

I think it's pathetic that it is a risk or anyone thinks it is, I think it's pathetic that people even think bad on someones religion or sexuality,
and forget about politics, that's just one big world joke. Oh wait religions have been the mastermind behind politics since the beginning hmm, wait religions have been the ones to persecute people for the sexual orientation since the begginning,
or is that the Catholic Medivel church? oh there views never changed. so then you have 100 different religions with on religion...
Bioware is creating a dark and gritty world, and in this world there is sex, politics, and religious views...
like I said reality is far far worse:devil:

Result? Riots all over the world.
When artistic freedom targets hotly debated social issues etc then very likely some kind of fallout can be expected.
Think of the Civil Rights movement and pretend that back then there were computer games and in one such game a black character had a love scene with a white female - such as we see in DAO. Think there would be any kind of reaction?
So all I am stating is that when a game plays on racism, sexuality, disparity between poor and rich then the higher the probability that the game will get some kind of reaction from one group or another.

So, what, you're saying we should pander to knuckle-dragging bigots with their heads stuck firmly... In the past, and of whom there is literally nothing kind to say?
I will say this once: Hell. No.
And frankly, reaction is good. Reaction means discussion. Progress cannot occur in silence.

And Leli does hit on a female PC in most playthrus before the PC has an option to hit on her. Whereas a male PC has to initiate the relationship - and it requires a lot more work on the male PC's part.
Just like in real life, eh?

As I recall, Zev is bi. Does he show the same persistance in hitting on female characters?
If so, I call "double standard" on anyone who complains about it the one way while turning a blind eye towards the other.

Well if you are a bible thumper you can shoot him down after the first time he tries it. However if he didn't at least try to flirt with you then he would be acting in character

Yes he does show the same persitence with a female character. There is always a huge double standard when it comes to homosexuality for alot of people.

I disagree. Not all reaction is good and it definitely does not always lead to discussion. As for progress - according to who? How do you define progress? Is it based on what you think is 'right'?
As with all things, I always try to pick a middle ground. A balanced approach to everything works a lot better than 'either you are with us or against us' mentality. I think game developers could successfully tackle real life issues in games just as long as their approach was 'balanced'. Not over the top, not heavy handed but just enough to get people thinking - such as what was done with the Stone Warrior in DAO. The other characters in the game, I personally found some of them a bit over the top.

DA:O has sexual elements thats it, why should gay, lesbian and bi relationship mean anything more or less than "normal" ones??
Edit: Actually i fail to understand why sex is an issue at all in an 18+ game. Considering that age limit Leliana being into SM and morrigan taking a dump on your face while being humped by a goat MIGHT be extreme enough to trigger a debate. Normal sex shouldnt.
