After playing the Witcher 2's Enhanced Edition I was thinking about Mass Effect 3's extended cut and how it will effect the game. So far we know very little about the extended cut and it's composition. It could just be loads of cut scenes or some more gameplay, but in essences it is for all intensive purposes designed to address the ending and "clarify" it. Though when you look at the game as a package, the endings story isn't the only problem.

For me the intro was lackluster. It was boring and confusing(more so for new players) while lacking any real substaince inregards to the story. Sure you got the reaper invasion etc, but it was missing any real reason you were on earth. It is vaguely mentioned by Anderson though I really felt it could be enforced that you weren't there because of a trial, you were there because you were the military advisor for the alliance. Bioware could of had several flash backs as Shepard gave the alliance council some advise, giving new players an intro into the game and the calm before the storm.

Then we get to the combat run to the Normandy. It was boring and uneventful, they could of had you running through the streets as reaper forces invaded, helping civilians escape, seeing civilians die, taking in the future city. In short they missed an opportunity to make you care about earth, as they did with Thessia and even Palaven, the deaths of millions were still just numbers and held no emotional connection to them.

So what do you guys think, should the extended cut fix more than justice ending story? If it does, the final mission is the first thing that needs to be addressed to make it as epic as it was meant to be, showing all your war assets and asserting one of the key theme of mass effect: "working together"
