I would join, but I returned my game.

I fully support this though!

Then play the Mass Effect 3 Demo at that day :)

Huh, I didn't think about that. Okay, in that case, I'm in.

Yay! :D Spread the news!

You don't need to own the game any more in order to participate.

You don't need to be on Twitter.

You don't need to be on Facebook.

You don't need to have a working game (XBox users, the demo should work for you even if the patch killed your actual game. If it doesn't work, just tweet when you would have turned on/off and complain that you still can't play.)

Anyone can participate!

Is it worth posting links to this thread in the other popular ones to get it more attention? Or has that been done already?

Please do this! I tried some of the LI threads, but they saw me as a spammer. If you're a regular in another thread, by all means, port this over there and talk it up! :wizard:

or it could backfire and EA see everyone playing and say, "hey, everyone's playing, why spend time/money on a EC DLC?"

I will still wait for a patch for quest bugs and the DLC to see if the SP is worth revisiting.

Well they might think that on the first day, the second day 'Turn Off' demonstrates the willingness to walk away from EA/BW if they don't invest the time/money.

This idea sounds damned good. I can't say I'll be on twitter, but I'll do my part and turn of a Turian and shut down Starpr*ck.

Perhaps add a sly reference to the distinct possiblility he may be a quarian fetishist, as well? (All this talk about them being attractive - I find it highly doubtful most Protheans thought that... just look at the two species!)

Just got a retweet from @JeremyJahns.

I couldn't get any of the big names I tweeted to do it, but I think I hit close to 20,000 with the 4 that did.

I don't think this is a good idea.

a) too complicated for the fans (humans are lazy people)
B) too complicated for EA to get the message - from the past we have seen they have difficulties understanding our messages, so probably they will just think it's a weekend-spike.

Thank you for sharing your concerns! I'm not only listening, I'm going to respond! :D

a) I realize that making people jump through hoops is a recipe for noncompliance. I've tried to make the campaign as easy as possible for people to do. Figuring out when you're supposed to be on too complicated? Aderyn_brea's schedule will tell you when to be on or off. Don't know what to do? There are step-by-step instructions. Feeling lazy? Participating is as easy as turning on your SP game for 5 minutes Saturday and then turning the game off for the rest of the weekend. Sure, tweeting would be great, posting would be great, spreading the news would be great, but if thousands of people who haven't been playing just turned their games on for 5 minutes on one day, that would be enough. Certainly, if you can think of ways to make it even easier, I'm open to suggestions!

B) I've also tried to keep the message as simple as possible:
Make good DLC = $$$!
Make bad DLC = no $.
That's pretty basic. Now, whether or not this message will prompt EA/Bioware to change what
they do is another matter altogether. We'll see when the DLC comes out!

People using the Twitter hashtags can't be confused for "random variation," though the rest of us can unless there are A LOT of us, so keep spreading the news!
If you can suggest other ways to make the campaign easy and effective, please speak up! :)

You know, I'm at least consequent.

Since seeing the ending I haven't played a single minute of single- or multiplayer. Not even started the game.

I haven't downloaded the free DLC.

That's the message they get. "Player sees the ending, then he never plays the game again."

That's a far better message than "instead of 25 days last month I will just play 24 days this month - get the message EA!".

By not playing the game I'm doing the more than most of the hypocrites do. And don't tell me there are none.

Edit: Also, sorry if it seems to be too harsh ;)

Playing zero days out of 25 is shooting yourself in the foot. Because by not playing, Bioware assumes you are lost to them and your opinion doesn't "count"  because it's never expressed. You are the person who needs to play ONE day out of 25. Saturday. If you play, you are making a statement that you are not a lost cause and that you've been not playing all this time NOT because you've moved on, but because it's too painful and they need to fix this debacle. Going cold turkey may mean they get the message for the NEXT game, but I want to save THIS game.

Just don't play the game. It's that simple.

No 24-hour long brake. That's useless because they just don't care.

Stop playing the game. Stop buying packages. That's a message they understand. And you don't need to organize anything.

Simple and effective.

I have a feeling many of us are already not playing the game, SP or MP.
I know I'm not.

But they can't ignore a sudden spike of players on one day and then the sudden drop back to normal/lower than normal. Do they have to do anything about it? No, but it'll be there nonetheless.

Just sitting here and not giving money to Bioware is awesome, but if that;s what most have been doing for the past month I'm going to assume it's status quo by now. There's no harm in giving their numbers a spike and drop. They aren't getting anymore money out of it, and you can't assume that everyone doing this is playing MP and throwing tons of cash at Bioware otherwise.

I see this often. You have people getting together and agreeing not to spend money on something or playing the game and when someone sees people are still playing or spending money they automatically assume it's the people from that group going back on their word, without the thought that there are plenty others who don't even know about the agreement and probably don't really care.

This. Through Origin, Bioware can actually tell WHO is playing. That's how they are able to give individuals "rewards packs" after MP weekends. If they see people who have not turned on their SP game since they finished their first playthrough, like you and me, suddenly coming out of the woodwork on Saturday, that will give Bioware something to think about. Again, if you don't play, you are marginalizing yourself and silencing your own voice. You will be making a statement, but you're not being heard.

I have played MP, though I haven't bought anything. But you know what? I realized that by ignoring SP and playing MP I was playing into EA's false notion that MP is what should be concentrated on rather than SP. By NOT playing SP, I was dooming the thing that I really loved most. That's part of the reason I'm doing this. How many of us are silently not playing SP because it's too painful, and by doing so being written off as a "lost cause"? It's especially important for us to come out and say: "I loved SP, and I want to love SP again! Give me a reason to play it again, and I'll reward you!"

Don't be written off! Stand up and be counted! :wizard:

Wow, it must be nice being that guy! Being so sure you're the only one walking the walk.

I'll stick with reminding them just how many of us are still actively watching and waiting and pushing for an ending worthy of the series than continuing to sit here in silence and risk becoming
nothing more than an annoying memory.

My account has been offline since mid-March but I'll be firing it up on Saturday and then I'm going to log out again, maybe until mid-summer or never again.

Thank you!

While several people think it's the most effective form of protest, it's incredibly difficult to encourage people to do an all out boycott, especially on games they've already paid for and particularly before the EC DLC has released. Lots of people want to wait and see and are hopeful that it'll be groovy and will win back their trust in Bioware (I'm definitely interested in seeing what it'll bring).

The idea of the campaign is to present a number spike that shows both the support for the franchise, hope for the DLC and the willingness to walk away if it does not clear up the issues we've raised.

I'll be there at the weekend :)

Thanks, Syrin!

Also, all Bioware has been seeing recently is sticks (except for the cupcakes), so a carrot that costs us nothing to offer but 5 minutes of our time can be very powerful.

They can certainly choose to ignore this, but I doubt  we can make the situation any worse than it is. People are starting to talk class action lawsuit now. With lawyers. :pinched: I prefer a less expensive and friendlier approach. :P

Waiting and seeing without speaking up is a risky proposition, because if the DLC sucks there are no do-overs. They, and we, are getting one shot at this. It's better to do something now than to wish we had when summer comes around!

Great idea, not sure how much EA will care, but I'm in. The tun off part won't be an issue. Except for the Diablo 3 beta this weekend I haven't feel like gaming at all since I finished ME3 (been great for my backlogged reading list). As for turn on I'll just turn on my xbox, load my SP, and walk away for a while.

By the way just saw this months Xbox Magazine. One of the negatives that had besides the shouder surfing fetch quests.... endings that were higly simmilar.
