Dunno if I can stay away for full 24h of this forums - but I definitely have no issues with turning off ME3 at Sunday.
I'm trying it. Sometimes you have to sacrifice something to win more, right?
So my support is just 90% - damnit, I need you guys here. In one thing ME3 excels its predecessors: it brings people together. Never before so many came together. And never before we saw such an issue like this.
(Twisted Hackett is twisted)
In general it's a great achievement to get noticed by the press. I mean ... EA got voted to the worst US company? Well ... wow. Seems the fans are currently holding more power in their hands than customers of the Bank of America! Keep up the good work.
Forums are addictive, aren't they? I spend lots of time here! I do believe, though, that if we can't stay away from the game and the forums for ONE day then EA will assume we won't have the willpower to keep from buying DLC and will act accordingly. No matter how much we say we won't buy it. This weekend is going to require some sacrifice on both days, and for an uncertain (and probably slim) chance of benefit, so I thank all of you who are willing to participate. I'm happy and proud to have met you all!

It is indeed a spectacular event, and even better that the gamers are startng to fight back against the EA menace(and possibly winning). In a way, it reflects the heart and soul of Mass Effect.
More good news is that we can still get together for the event on other websites, such as- http://www.holdtheline.com/
Feel free to hit me up, my user name is the same as this one.
I am an idiot! Of course! I usually have that site and this one open simultaneously. I have the same name there as well, (although I'm probably going to be playing the Guild Wars 2 beta Sunday).

No No no no no. this is not going to work, This is not how your protest.
If you want to make a statement you do not stop playing a game that is free to play. it means nothing.
What you need to do if you wish to make a statement is disrupt the weekend Operation. this turn of thing is so backwards.
What you should be doing is sitting in on ME 3. This weekend during the operation everyone should be loading up ME3 and then sitting in lobbies not readying up, or entering gold lobbies readying up and then sitting in the middle of the map. The idea is to get noticed. Switching off will just get you ignored.
Your aim should be to disrupt the weekend Operation as an act of protest. This would get you more attention, and generate better results.
Nooo...because that only disadvantages those trying to have fun on the multiplayer not Bioware or Ea and makes us all look like petulant douchebags. I think you'll find a lot can be accomplished by non-intrusive protest (Ghandi anyone?)
Can't remember if I previously stated my support so i'll do it again =)
I understand where you're coming from, akuma, but I think alienating other fans would come around and bite us pretty quickly. Some people who play MP aren't spending money on EA either, so why deprive them of their ability to have fun? Some may feel that MP is all they have left.
I want this to be a way for fans to come together, not a way to divide us further. That may turn out looking weak or ineffectual, but so be it. Whenever I hear someone say: "I'm not a Retake member, but I like this idea" or "I happen to like the ending, but more power to you guys," that really makes me happy. We all love Mass Effect, so let's find a way we can all enjoy it!

Another thing, guys:
If you really want to show a sign, refuse spending money on Equipment Packs in multiplayer.
The event for this weekend is a great idea and will do something as well, but to really change something, EA needs to get cut off from your wallets until something changes.
I also support not buying stuff you can get for free with enough gameplay, but I'm cheap that way.

I can only turn the game off because I have class and it's midterm week...
Don't have a Twitter though.
Will support in spirit though by keeping this forum alive.
Thanks for the bump! You can turn it on and just leave it to go to class. Just don't let it distract you from studying!

Took me a while to find this thread again. Count me in. I’ll play something else on Sunday completely like Skyrim.
Unfortunately I doubt EA will even notice the drop of people on their Origin account thing with all the games they have on it now. Its also not likely that the will even care since they already have your money for the game.
It would be nice to see if the results of haw many people do this and IF it actually made a difference in anything.Good god, I hope people are not actually spending their money on those packs. If so, they have absolutely no sense of the value of money in this crappy economy with what you are not getting. Wish I had that kind of money to waste on worthless electronic junk.CptData wrote...

Yes, we're probably a drop in the bucket, but we're an important drop, dammit!
Here's hoping that "Bioware embraves the ambiguity of 'clarity'" as Understated NerdRage said and gives us more than prolonged Starchild cutscenes!

while i do honor the thought behind the action and i see your "good" intend....the only way you can show EA/Bioware something is buy purchasing or notpurchasing future products ..that`s just how big corporations work.
Thank you! It's true that money talks. My dilemma is that I want to save THIS game, not the next game, and I've already bought it. So, I've withheld any more money, and now I'm just trying to send a friendly reminder to Bioware that I'll be here with my wallet if they decide to give this game the epic ending it deserves.

I don't have a facebook account, but I'm in. Unfortunately, I'm not so optimistic that enough people will do the same, hence not causing the expected impact. Sunday will be Witcher 2 EE for me.
About the guys talking about not buying anything from EA, I din't since the ending, and wont until the ending is made better.
Thank you! Well, this is a long shot, no question, and we'll probably never get acknowledged, but I'm proud to stand with you!
All of you, everyone, thank you! I feel like we're going on our own private "suicide mission"! Thank you for not giving in to apathy and cynicism! Thank you for trying to make ME3 better!
Keep spreading the word tomorrow and come back to post an after action report! I'm interested to hear how it felt to play SP again!

Interesting concept.
I had to take time off these forums in disgust with bioware and many of the posters and popped my head back in today to keep up to date on the retake movement.
Then I saw this.
I'll have to reinstall the game but I like the intent and message behind this idea.
Thank you, glad you caught us!

I'm in..don't know if it will accomplish anything.. but its worth a try. Anyway I've heard theres a patch for the face import bug, I'll see whether it works for any of my 5 unplayed Sheps. Don't know how long I can stand to play it though..Hold The Line.
Good luck importing your face! I really sympathize with you guys. Not being able to play "your" Shepard is a letdown, no question. It's interesting that even the faces that import properly often don't look anything like ME2 Shepard to their creators even though they look like a good match to outsiders. Why is that?

Perhaps, it would have been better to set the date back a week or 2 and give enough time to get the word out to more players. I only heard about this today, like 5 mins ago.
Yes, I think another week would have been ideal from a standpoint of missing an operation weekend and getting more turnout, but I got too worried the DLC would be finalized before the initiative could happen. 1200 people is pretty awesome for 6 days (!) though not what we could have done in two weeks or more. It turned out to be a tradeoff between turnout and timeliness.
Some people on the FB thread suggested doing this bi-weekly or monthly until the DLC comes out -- we'll see if that idea gains traction. If they want to continue, I'll be here!
