LONG POST.  My sincerest apologies for it.  But I'm not a thread creator, and I think my issues with MP are on-topic with this thread.  So if you're a troll, and/or don't like long posts, SKIP THIS.  But we can't stop trolls from snarking.  Trolls can't resist.  Hence, the troll-age.

I don't wanna' be THAT guy.  But on bronze, I've played with MOSTLY those guys.  I've read that on silver and gold that this may no't be such an issue, but I'm not very good at this MP thing.  It's likely a Bronze life for me.  It's hard enough.

What bothers me:

On bronze level, the meta-multiplayer gamers who obviously are working up their umpteenth character to level 20, and are clearly annoyed that I'm not Space Rambo.  They push me out of the way, move into my cover, warp right next to me, and race off without the team as...that's right.  Space Rambo.  I'm level 16, now, and I can count on one hand the number of missions I've played in which the team actually worked together.  I should have written down all their gamertags and send them a "thank you" for playing the game the way it should be played.

And yes, to all the nasty little trolls who have entered, farted, and left in this forum, and have derided those in this thread who are upset with the lack of cooperation, teamwork, and fairness, there IS a right way to play:

1.  Cooperation, teamwork, fairness, support, understanding your role in the team: GOOD.
2.  Lone wolfing, kill stealing, solitary melee clustering, leaving teammates to bleed out: BAD.

If you don't get this simple dichotomy, well, let's just say I don't want you living in my community IRL.

I wish I could say to those bad players on Bronze that I'm mostly forced to play with (but don't because I refuse to use a mike--it's a horribly abused bit of tech), "Look.  I'm an old gamer.  I don't have a 20-year old's hand-eye coordination or reflexes any more.  I'm slow.  I also am not in this for the personal glory.  I'm playing to get my Galactic Readiness at 100% for the SP game. I'm NOT happy that I need to play the multiplayer game*.  I'm doing my best. I really am.  And I"m trying to be aware of a solid role I can play on a team, and what I'm not capable of doing.  So as a common, grunt human soldier, I promise to do the following:

1.  I will never steal your kills.  I will not EVER use my sniper rifle to steal your melee kill or your biotic attack that you've worked hard to get.

2.  I will not get into your way.  I may follow you at a distance because on some maps I'm easily confused (I'm old), but I will NEVER glom onto your cover spot (that's rude) and I will not step into your line of fire.  I follow because you know where the enemy's coming, and I don't.  And no, I don't always remember.  Besides, you DON'T want me
leading the charge.

3. I will not get a lot of kills.  In fact, I'll always have the fewest, and the fewest point totals.  That's not because I'm not helping the team.  I will hang back, pick my targets, and always go for assists.  If someone is meleeing, I will often pepper their opponent, then allow the fellow player to make the melee kill.  As a grunt, my job is support,
not commando.  Most of the badges I get at mission's end are for assists and support.  They may not be as flashy as your multiple badges, but I feel good.  I helped.

4. I will never, ever, rush out blindly into melee or the thick of the fight. That will get me in others' way, get me killed, and put everyone at a disadvantage because I just stupidly got myself killed.

5.  I will have your back.  I know that you're younger, faster, and much more experienced at this sort of game than me.  Because you're a better player, I will keep to the flank, and work on maintaining a buffer between you and whatever might be circling around to shoot us in the back.

6.  I don't play any other character.  I'm bad enough as it is; I will be worse with yet another Level One character with too many skills and abilities to remember.  So I play a human soldier in support.  That's all.

I just don't want to be THAT guy.  But on Bronze, I have to play with 'em all the time.

Thanks for reading.  I appreciate it.

*Yes, I'm aware that I don't technically HAVE to play multiplayer.  But Galactic Readiness IS tied to EMS.  After one SP playthrough, I've resigned myself to playing multiplayer, to get my EMS at the max.  I'll give myself every option I can for a good ending, if we get one in the DLC.  And I'm just trying to have fun, too, within the spirit of the rules.  EMS goes down if you don't keep playing (I know there's a 75% GR floor), and I want to get a Level 20 soldier so I can better help the team, and not be a burden to the other players.

You on Xbox? If so add me, my GT is VeteranSpace8. I have a bunch of friends and most of them are good enough to drag you through Silver by your hand, so you can get out of Bronze if you want.

Just stick to the side of someone... anyone and shoot at what they are shooting at and we'll be good to go.

Yeah, XxTaLoNxX.  Gamertag's noted.  I'm RollaChief (Xbox Gamertag).  Thanks very much.  Next time I'm on, I'll send an Xbox message.  Play mostly early mornings before work, and early morning weekends.  Totally understand if that's not your time.  If you guys bring me on, I'll absolutely do my best, and my support job in the game.

And thanks again.

People who have a power spamming class like an Engineer or Adept with really heavy weapons.

I saw a guy today using a Claymore and Widow with a Human Adept. Another time I saw a Quarian with a Wraith and Black Widow.

C'mon...get real people. What good is your Overload if you've got to wait 30 seconds for it to recharge?

Also theres is nothing wrong with ramboing, if the whole team moves as a single rambodeathdealingtroop that chews through anything so fast the enemy didnt knew what hit them :D (yesterday my group somehow went all nutz and we got through silver reaper in 15 minutes, we actually had to rush out of the lz TO FIND SOMETHING TO KILL :D, needless to say we went with a nice gold finish with the same tactic, both matches 10 waves survived)

A level 7 Reverant is lighter than two ultra rare level 1 weapons.

I stuck Claymore III on my level 15 HE and it was on +22% recharge.  If I had added my level 1 Black Widow it would have gone down to -40% or lower.  If I had gone into battle with that it would have taken over 20 seconds to recharge my powers.

I don't think you had to wait 20+ seconds to use Singletary again heh.Image IPB

Feel free to add me, too- GT XBL is nicola nicola- or I'll add you next time I'm on.

Loved your post, and agree wholeheartedly (especially re glomming cover- seriously- I am right here, and there is loads of room beside/near me. And you're a Krogan with crazy health compared to my poor engie)- though, I'd caution you: I started off playing the MP to bump my galactic readiness, have never played MP in my life, was all nerves and irritation that I had to play MP to start with but now that I have the hang of it I'm totally addicted ;)

If you want some relaxed people to play with who don't take it too seriously try the Bronze Effect group (http://social.bioware.com/group/7080)- I've gamed with a couple of people from there and it is an absolute relief after the frustration built up from all the 'That Guys' in PUGs.

- People who use medi-gel really early on rather than just letting themselves die
- Kicking people in Bronze
- Vanguards on Gold who just run in and die

Probably more but I don't wanna moan too much.

Yeah.  Saw something really similar this last night, believe it nor not, on Bronze.  I thought, "Right there are a bunch of gold-level players slumming on Bronze."  I knew I couldn't match their TeamRambo brilliance, so I hung back and guarded their flank.  Downed several cannibals and a maurader that would have ended the fun for them.  So I think I understand what you mean, ShadedPhoenix.  One even came back after I got flank-swarmed and revived me.  Was a rare but fun game.  And goodness--I think my point total was like 1/10 of theirs.  But we completed the mission!

I don't know, as far as people testing different loadouts for different classes on Bronze... I don't care.
You can play an Adept with the two heaviest guns in the game for all I care.

However, your wonky creation better be able to perform if you take it to Silver in my opinion.
Sometimes skill is a good enough supplement for having an odd build that you have FUN with.

That might have been me and my friends ;)

Sometimes after we are exhausted of doing Gold and Silver we take it down to Bronze and dominate.
Usually we open the lobby for a public fourth, so someone gets some easy money with us.

Seems like the right thing to do...

The dude that just HAS to shoot the one enemy i just lifted and waiting for my cooldown so i can detonate, or even worse, shoot him AFTER my warp is on the way so now i'm stuck with no detonation and another cooldown... i mean come on man! Its friggin gold, there are plenty of dudes to go around, can't you shoot someone who is not taken out? make yourself USEFUL instead of stealing kills? which i generally don't mind, if someone else wants to detonate i'm glad - that way i can set up another one faster and he can blow it up faster, its called "teamwork", sheesh.

I have used a rocket on a husk.

I accidentally selected cobra missiles when rezzing without noticing, first enemy I see BAM. nothing else was close either so it was a complete waste.

I hate the guy who just has his mic on without using it and does all kinds of annoying unnecessary sounds while playing, or the ones who has the sensitivity so high you can hear their TV.

Absolutely might have been you guys.  I remember hoping at the end of the mission that TeamSpaceRambo was unbelievably awesome, and I hoped I didn't get in the way.  Maybe they said to each other, " That RollaChief dude was slow and kind of sucked, but did you notice?  He kept out of our way and damned if he didn't have our flanks.  He held the rearguard.  Sucky Bronze guy did okay."

If so, Victory!  Old grunt soldiers have value in the squad!   And if it was you guys, mega-thanks for the mission-point gift.  No freeloader here--tried to prove in battle that I was grateful.

Ppl who run right to the landing zone right when round eleven starts then get killed waiting for the timer to run out. It's ok on a bronze match but on silver or higher it sucks. You have to lure the enemy AWAY from the LZ then go to it around 30 seconds left, otherwise you will just get overrun. Also rambos(usually vanguards) who run away to the other side of the map, get killed, then expect you to heal them everyone when they have about ten enemies standing on top of them. It's ok the first few times but if they keep fighting by themselves then they can get themselves up as well. Also ppl you heal but never come and heal you. Those ppl need to look up cooperation in the dictionary. Lastly, ppl who WON'T TAKE COVER EVER ON GOLD MATCHES! You go down in 2 shots but you keep staffing in the open areas and go down every ten seconds! Can't you realize something your doing isn't working!

Just a quick note, there is no such thing as kill stealing in this co-op game. ;)

Well, there IS. But it's not as big a deal as everyone makes it out to be.

I took down the things shields and whittled down it's armor. I would like to get the credit for the kill instead of getting a high-scoring assist instead.

But, I don't dwell on it. Let's all move on.

When it takes me forever to find a lobby I don't lag too much in and when the host quits and I become the host and don't want to since everyone else is going to lag because of me. Also when I try to revive someone but my game is lagging and I can't then I cause us all to lose. I can play SP just fine or MP by myself but when I try to join a lobby I am running on 10 fps. Other than that it is human Vanguards who use a pistol so they can nova charge everyone the whole match.

Well that's a lot of hate towards players who use different/silly build, and towards people who steal kills(I don't see the problem here, you still get the points.).

As for people who use 2 heavy weapons on Adept class....what is your problem? Let the player play however he wants to play in a pub lobby. If you want to be competitive in a co-op game, then play with your friends, where they might listen to your directions etc.Let the player decide what he is, and what he is not doing wrong. If he/she needs any help, he'll ask.

That said, using a rocket on a husk is very silly... ^^
