The exception is if you're playing an Adept or other biotic class that can self-detonate. They should focus on the bosses first, because they can do a lot of damage to them quickly -while- taking out all the minions around them at the same time.
The thing about bosses (except Phantoms) is that they're extremely predictable. If you got killed by an Atlas, and you're on a level where you -should- be playing on Gold, let's face it: you screwed up. They move about an inch an hour, only fire with their right hand, and are quite predictable about it. Brutes? If you don't know how to dodge a brute (if you're on a dodgey class), or lead it on a wild goose chase, you need to go practice on Silver for a while. Primes? Please. Pew, Pew, Pew, Pause, Pew, Pew, Pew, Pause. Completely predictable. Yes, all those enemies are very dangerous if they're in the middle of an army. But once you wipe out the army? Easy.
Banshees are a bit different, because of all the bosses, they're the only one that can actually keep up with you as you relocate, unless you sprint (which is dangerous in Gold). But they're -so- fast, they can actually separate themselves from the rest of the enemies, and it's entirely possible to take them out on most maps long before their backup arrives.
So... a good guide overall, but the best advice I ever got, back when I was still a newbie, was to save the Primes for last. Geth suddenly went from the hardest enemy type, to the easiest, with just that one tip, and I've since found it applies almost universally to any slow-moving, predictable, high-HP targets.

Is there a new version of this somewhere? This thread is referenced in the pinned strategy thread, and it's outdated. It doesn't have Collectors and one or two enemy types (Dragoon comes to mind). Thanks.
reviving an old thread?

nothing really has changed. just light dragoons on fire and watch them burn.

#1 - Banshee UNLESS you see Cannibals or Marauders in the same room. Generally Banshees make it to you very quickly so the first set will be alone. Stay out of melee range obviously, but since the last two patches boosted her teleport range give her an extra step or two breathing room.
#2 - Marauders/Cannibals/Husks. I know this may look like wtf he forgot Ravagers, but they are slow and should only be bumped up the rank if they have direct line of sight into your current area. Cannibals also throw grenades which in a heated battle with banshees can take you by surprise as you walk right into one. Marauders are just generally aggressive and we all know about their shields. I added Husks here because they can cause huge problems if you ignore them. Use them to setup detonations or just kill them as soon as you see them, just don't let them get in close while you are fighting other enemies.
#3 - Ravagers. They can long distance nuke you, and potentially cause a wipe by having you spawn killed as you revive.
#4 - Brutes. They are dangerous in conjuction with long ranged enemies and Banshee's but alone they are low on the list.
#5 - Swarmers. You don't want to leave a large group wandering as they always hit you at the worst possible moment.
Excuse me, but Swarmers are definitely the no.1 priority, nuke them on sight! Banshees got nothing on them sneaky Swarmers! ![]()

Well according to that guide I fail miserably at my targeting priority when vs Reaper.
Always husks, cannibals and marauders. Unless I can find those clusters of Ravagers and Brutes all stuck together. That's called a reave grenade grenade grenade moment (Or insert any other massive aoe damage combo). Repeat until there are only Banshees left.

No.
Officially, posting in old threads is fine, if you do it to continue the discussion (which you were.) Sometimes people necro old threads for silly reasons, but it's nothing worth worrying about.

The strategy on this guide is pretty bad, so don't worry about finding a newer version.
As a general rule you should always kill the small units first and leave big ones and bosses for last (exactly the opposite of what is written on the guide). Also, you should neither camp nor take hard cover.
Search youtube for some good guides.

Where does camping fit in there? Does it come before, after or during the missile spam on wave 11? And you have to do it on objective waves too, right?

I'll give my own opinions on the 'new' enemies. Back out now if you don't want a wall-o-text!
Dragoons have a cap to how many can spawn in a given wave on gold, so I'd recommend killing them asap to get some breathing room. They also take a pretty good chunk out of the wave budget to sweeten the deal.
-They have a pretty high chance to attempt dodging your attacks, so just throw a projectile power or shoot them until they roll to slow their advance (easy headshots as they recover too).
-Stagger weapons like a falcon, acolyte, gps, venom, scorpion, or graal can also help keep groups of them (and phantoms) at bay. Some moves like neural shock overload or certain specs of concussive shot can also stagger them (I think 600N is the required force).
-Their ranged dps is very much a threat, but the stagger from their leap attack can very easily get you killed by another unit like a phantom or atlas.
For geth bombers try yelling on mic every time they cheat. It won't help, but it'll make you feel better. Seriously, expect them to occasionally ignore powers like overload. Kill these things at range asap as the cluster bomb + stun face combo will make escaping and/or reloading a pain if you even survive the cluster bomb.
-As with most other geth units they are very vulnerable to AoE combo damage.
-They can't attack past a certain range, and will usually bomb the first thing to get within range.
-You can either set up a decoy/combat drone/geth turret/sentry turret away from your team, or just run straight towards them to bait the attack while your team focuses fire. Obviously be careful with the second strategy because running out into the open vs geth can go bad real quick.
-These don't take up that much of the wave budget, so go for pyros and hunters if you want to speed up the wave.
Collectors
Space crabs (Praetorians) are deceptively silent for something so large. If you are the kind of player who relies on sound be especially sure to actually check your six when fighting collectors. I'd recommend searching the forum for sync kill unit guides to learn all about the space crab, but I'll give a few quick pointers.
-They can not sync kill you while flying, and being targeted by a power while flying will cause them to activate their power blocking bubble.
If you wish for them to be grounded simply run up to their face and they will land (obviously run once they start to land).
-Butt lasers can hit you through soft cover and are wonky off host, so actually take hard cover when they shoot lasers from their butt and/or face.
-Face missiles can be avoided with soft cover.
-Their melee hits hard and can stunlock so avoid fighting them in melee range (if you really want to melee them look up some melee guides).
-These things have a ton of health, especially when possessed, and are probably best left for last unless you have crazy high dps like a PPR or sniper infiltrator. Aim for their mouth that has all of the husk heads for extra damage.
Scions hit hard, but are slow and easy pray for those with decent aim and a good weapon or just access to high ranked power combos. Aim for the sack on their shoulder until it breaks, then shoot for the head. The possessed version is much tougher as the grenade spam gets ridiculous. If your team is clustered up and a possessed scion get LoS you should move immediately unless you want a revive party. Shoot at scions when the opportunity arises, but they aren't they biggest threat if you stay mobile.
Abominations are little bundles of trolling joy. They will (well, should) not explode if decapitated so either aim for the head or use certain melee attacks like the shadow's heavy melee to safely kill them at short range. Or just watch the fireworks. These things die fairly quickly and deplete the wave budget fast so kill these asap. CC moves like concussive shot, pull, and cryo blast can be a huge help, or troll in the case of pull. One explosion from an abom can kill a whole room of squishy characters, so always call these things out unless you are trolling.
Captains are one of the biggest threats of this faction. They have a lot of HP for an infantry unit, but the real threat is the seeker plague. You should always kill these before they close in as they will halt power cooldown and shield regen in addition to reducing your accuracy. Bad times. The melee of the captain and trooper deal a ton of damage, and medi-gelling near one will probably cause you to die again near instantly. Aim for the giant squishy space bug head.
Troopers and the collector web aren't as big of a deal as the captains, but once again mind their melee. The web can actually cause enemy units to get stuck too, so you can use that to your advantage on objective waves if you wish. Otherwise just shoot the webs as it's convenient. If you actually get stuck in one they are a problem, but it should rarely happen. Any good anti shield or barrier power should kill it in just a hit or two.
If you're on PS3 consider nuking possessed praetorians to help avoid freezing.
TL;DR Why is a PS3 player giving advice on collectors?

I kill the Ravagers first whilst avoiding the Banshee, for a start, to avoid being shelled at long range whilst the Banshee is closing in on me. I then turn around and kill the Banshee. There is nothing worse than backing away from a Banshee whilst shooting at it, just to be flanked by a Ravager.
