Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The Immortal Emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us his greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the First Kronus Regiment, and today is our Victory Day.

I think ghosts and stuff like that are speculation. But so is dark matter. I can logically infer that whatever initiated the big bang (the beginning of time and space...non-existent til the bang) was supernatural (the cause being outside of time and space since time and space didn't exist until the bang was initiated).

Anything, in my mind, that defies time and space is supernatural.

I believe that we are ignorant if we believe that everything has been seen and discovered. That said, I'm fairly sure I've encountered more than one thing that was not explainable without tapping the "supernatural". I also believe that supernatural things are just not understood by science yet, but that they to must obey some natural law themselves.

I believe that humanity needs to be more accepting of the unknown, and not fear it, and always question their knowledge with reason and logic. In any case, no one should ever stop wondering about those mysteries.

I'm an atheist and was raised by scientist parents. Rejecting the existence of the supernatural is just as biggotted as saying that there's solid evidence for it.

I don't fear the unknown, it's more of a 'how is that even possible?!' or 'that can not be real, thats got to be fake' situation for me.

I am more willing to accept that i have gone mad or hallucinating if i saw a ghost or a demon as the would be the most likely reason why i am seeing 'ghosts' or 'demons'.

Thats the best of how i can explain my situation on the supernatural, it's just got to be impossible.

But like i said, if it was confirmed by leading scientists, i would happily explore, study and research the supernatural.

All of that exploring, studying and researching would have already been done and validated by said "leading scientists".

Be aware that those people are generally working for corporate money and would be the last ones to risk their reputation with studies of the paranormal.

Anyway, Emperor of Mankind is the true God.

Indeed I am.
Your faith is noted.

With that said, I believe in science...and I also acknowledge it's limits. I do believe in supernatural things, but not in the blunt/literal way most people do.

To answer the title:

Yes. I've seen ghosts and ghosts have been recorded since records began. There have been people who have been in groups who have seen ghosts (which show that they couldn't be imagining the ghost if they all saw it) and I've even met people who are pretty much non-religious who say they've seen ghosts. Records and reports of ghosts go way back Ancient Egypt and Rome.

Can they be proven? I don't think we have the instruments to study such phenomena. Supernatural is just a word for things we don't understand. One upon time some people thought the sun was a god and now we know it's just a great big ball of plasma held together by gravity. It was called a god (and thus supernatural) because the people didn't understand it.

People nowadays call ghosts, miracles and God supernatural but they are very much natural things. The very definition of supernatural is this:

"Of, pertaining to, or being above or beyond what is natural; unexplainable by natural law or phenomena; abnormal." - Dictionary.com

If we could understand then it wouldn't be supernatural anymore. I personally don't get where this "I believe in science" stuff is coming from because I believe in science too but sometimes you will see something that can't be recorded and measured but it's still fact. If I suddenly gained god-like powers and could cast fireballs, I wouldn't need science to tell me that it's all real because I'd be seeing it first hand.

I'm open mnded. I've seen things that I can't explain like "poltergeist" activity(tables and chairs moving on their own) and the black shadow of a person standing staring at me before turning and walking away, then disapearing. I don't mean a shadow on a wall or the floor, I mean standing in the doorway apparently staring at me, then turning around and walking away into the room where I couldn't see.

Spiritual? Yes.

I've had personal experiences but I don't wish to share.

I'm open to these sorts of things. Science is nice to have but even when you have scientific evidence, somebody else wants to claim it isn't conclusive...

A lot of people refer to Supernatural as something that cannot be understood by science - period. Not now, not ever.

Of course, you then get into semantics wars with people who think anything that happens in the universe is natural, therefore X cannot be supernatural and so on and so on.

But it's an interesting thought. Suppose you and a few other people see a ghost - yet all scientific equipment registers nothing at all? How do you deal with something that defies logic and the laws ofhhte universe?

So only human eyes can see it? Cameras won't, etc.

I wouldn't say that defies the laws of the universe; I'd say it means we need some new laws.

Or maybe they don't play by the rules.

Let's suppose that after decades you finally established some rules for ghosts. Only for the ghosts to break them. And you try again. And they break them again. And again. And again.

Basicly God flips you teh bird and thows a spenner in your attempt to understand it.
2+2=4? Not anymore. Now it's 5... No, wait. 2+2 = fish!

Like agent Mulder, I want to believe!
I wager majority feels something like this. There is something comforting in possibility higher powers we can never fully comprehend surround us.

We are making it very hard for ourselves these days though. Cold light of science illuminates many of the darkest corners of earth nowD: Imagine how easy it was some few thousand years back when stuff like solar or lunar eclipse was an undisputable sign of a higher power being out there, and being most likely highly pissed off.

I used to live next door to the church where the Warrens (The real ghost hunters from Amityville Horror) used to get their exorcisms performed. So yeah I've seen stuff, and I've heard stuff.

But the ghosts weren't half as scary as the Priest who ran that church. Image IPB

I think it was more the ghosts came over to hang out just to get away from the man.

He used to be a Roman Catholic priest but went 'rogue' and formed his own offshoot when he decided he didn't want to follow the edicts of the Second Vatican Council. Only did masses in latin, and did a mass every year to celebrate the birth of Senator McCarthy...God's formost warrior against the dark one's creation of communism. You can't make this stuff up.

But a little off topic, since I'm fairly sure he wasn't a supernatural creature.

No, everything we can't explain, do not understand or can not see doesn't exist outside the realm of what we will be able to explain, understand and see. So it's not supernatural; just unexplored. And ghosts do not count among them.

Of course I am open to the idea of supernatural creatures however that does not mean that I truely believe in them. Usually what one could perceive as being a supernatural phenomenon actually has a more mundane and rational scientific explanation, it is simply not enough to tell me that such things like god, ghosts and angels exist, you need to give me a reason to believe it.

Seagloom wrote...

I do not disbelieve the possibility of their existence. My feeling is that until everything can be explained away by science, anything is possible.

Ah but even once everything is explained by science how do you know that this universe is not just a figment of your or someone else's imagination? And if this universe is but a figment of your or someone else's imagination how can you trust that the rules that govern this universe and the scientific explanations given within it apply to the greater universe that exists outside of your own consciousness?
