In both ME1 and ME2 Liara is damn near the most useful squadmate unless you yourself are already an adept. In ME1, you just have her use singularity, all bad guys go up in the air, and you just turkey shoot. Didn't get to kill them all, you just use lift, turkey shoot. One of those shotgun wielders or krogen with regen that needs 1000 bullets to kill? Just use warp. I mean having Liara is almost like cheating, that's how much easier she makes the game merely by having her in her squad. The same goes in ME3, though I used her stasis more instead of singularity , it helped me with using headshots with my sniper rifle.

So, how can you NOT like her? She's so damn useful, like an instant easy switch. Is that why you hate her, because she's the most useful squadmate in the game? Or do you play as an adept already and therefore don't need her? Maybe you don't like her voice actress. What is it?

Liara is not a squad mate in ME2, except for the LotSB mission.

I've made myself an assless Asari Adept in MP and don't give a damn about Liara anymore.

I think she's just too smart and adorable and sweet and wonderful and strong and sexy and insightful and well-dressed and courteous and powerful and giving and funny and caring and kick-ass and just-the-right-shade-of-blue for some people.

I think.

Ok, I'm assuming that's MP or a game mod. Otherwise that's not in ME.

Right, and I would have definitely liked to use her in the main campaign. No squadmate, including Samara, could match her power, though I think Kasumi was the most powerful squadmate that could compare. With her rapid shadow strike, you could kill any unshielded enemy. Kasumi is like an instant easy mode while on Insanity. I felt like I was cheating by having her on my squad, just like I felt like I was cheating when having Liara on my squad in ME1 and ME3.

Because I don't.

She's boring, has a lackluster VA, has way too much plot relevance, built too much around her romance (which makes her come off as stalkerish.), has a forced friendship after Mass Effect, and cannot be gotten rid of.

Not a good enough reason. Basically I feel like you have to punish yourself to not include her. Playing on Insanity in ME1 and ME3 must be twice as hard without her unless you're already an adept.

The game is easy enough already.

And I don't want to use her. Not when there are more interesting characters in both games.

Plot armor.

Same reason why most Liara haters also hate Kai Leng.

I don't understand that. If you could kill anyone at anytime how could you have a cohesive story? You have to have at least some characters that never die, at least until the end.

Garrus, Wrex and Vanguard Shepard are an unmatched powerhouse of destruction. Liara is beyond not necessary for insanity playthrough.

Liara is a smart woman. She is OK with me. Don;t get the hate. Being a mostly a Tali fan, I don't really get the hate for her either. Both are basically normal women, although different species of course.

Do Liara and Kai Leng haters also hate Joker, Hackett, Aria, Varric, Leliana, Morrigan and Isabela?

Sure but make those people that are death inmune not squadmates, the annoying thing with Liara is that compared to every other squadmates than have been there since me1 or 2 shes the only one that cant be killed or told to go somewhere else.
That she keeps getting throw into hard situations which she ends overcoming without reason is what makes people dislike her, not necesarily the character herself but the way BW has handled her, people feels she survives juts because a writer said so not because as a logical result of her capabilities.

Smart, I think, is what they have a problem with.

Personally, I don't have any issues with the character.

What does irk me - is how BioWare overshadows the other squad-mates in favor of her, rather than trying to keep it equal. It's as if they're forcing us to play the game(s) as they would.

Joker: Don't like him.

Hackett: No. He stays in his role as leader of the Alliance and that's it. He doesn't do anything but be leader of the Alliance.

Aria: Aria doesn't really do anything.

Varric: No. I can be a jerk to him and tell him off when I want.

Leliana: No. I can tell her to leave, be a jerk to her, or kill her off. Though she was retconned to be alive no matter what. Which is annoying

Morrigan:No. I can tell her to leave. She has a lot of forced plot relevance, and is a huge writer's pet in general. But I can tell Morrigan to leave the camp.

Isabella:No. I can kill Isabella, or sell her out and get rid of her.

Dragon Age is a pretty poor example. Since I can basically play the entire game by myself with only Alistair around (and I can kill him too.)

Did you hear me when I said she's like an instant easy switch when you use her in the game? I think that's makes it a logical result of her capabilities. She may not be the most powerful, but she's the most capable of rendering other enemies powerless. She doesn't need to kill enemies, she can just escape from them.  However, she IS capable of killing them, too, which makes her a badass.
