It's quite funny in a way. Because that is one of the reasons I value BioWare - I don't have to go out of my way to play their games in the original language, it's always a multilingual retail version - and sadly that isn't always the case here in Germany. No matter how good any translation is, there is always something lost, in the case of Drakensang (and maybe Drakensang 2 as well, though I can easily recommend both games) it's just the other way round. You don't happen to speak german good enough (at all?) to give them a try with the original voice overs?
However, while the Drakensang games are fun, they are no Dragon Age... To be honest, besides BioWare games there isn't much I really look forward, I'll give Alpha Protocoll a try this summer, as well as Fallout: New Vegas , anything else a should have on my radar?

No time to be depressed because I immediately start over again with a brand new character! LOL

This...almost done my 14th run. hehe  and the expansion is in what..12 days?  Will keep me busy til then.   I STILL haven't found the trick to hitting level 25,  nor have I gotten all the achievements yet...65 so far.

I've said this in other threads,  Dragon Age is like an excellent book that I hate to put down...funny part is,  I am still not bored with it, because I seem to stumble across things I have never done before..we'll see how this goes.  :)

I read somewhere that the trick is downloading and playing modded adventures.

Is there a board somewhere just for game suggestions?  Because that's what I'm going to need after I'm done with Awakenings.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is coming out this year as well. I know that CDProjekt is going to be sending out a press release sometime this month regarding details of the new game. The games I'm looking forward to most in the remainder of the year are that game and New Vegas, like you mentioned.

I'm positive that New Vegas will have good dialogue at least - some of the dialogue options, particularly during speech checks, was downright atrocious. Liked Fallout 3, but the main quest line was terrible, which is a shame, considering the side quests were very good at times.

Nope, because I haven't finished my (first) playthrough. :)

I am 4 months and 145 hours into this playthrough (including all available DLCs).

When I am finished, I am just good to go starting Awakening. :)

This...almost done my 14th run.

We are talking 14th playthrough, yes? That would amount to... about 1,000 hours? Game's been out for four months, that would mean 8 hours per day?

Ummm... wow! May I ask what you do in your spare time? When you're not busy earning your living by doing quests for the Mages' collective, I mean?

Nah, come on! There must be a typo somewhere in you post...

I think people are far too nostalgic about BG characters that really were not a well developed as they recall all these years later. Yes they were good but DA has really taken character development to another level. The only game that can compare in term of character development is Planescape Torment (and even then once more nostalgia may make it seem better than it was e.g. Annah, Fall from Grace etc could have had even more to them... although with the latter I realise it had to do with the game being released before all intended development was completed).

So in truth.. DA really is something else.

This was my first Bioware game and it is a fantastic feeling, after playing console RPGs for twenty years, to realize that the genre is far from tapped out, that there are still developers willing to offer a new take on it.

Aside from the heartbreaking lack of an option to have a torrid post-ending battle interlude with the Secret Companion, this was an amazing experience. Will definitely be back for more.

I was very glad to find this thread. I wonder if anyone is still interested in chatting about it…After finishing DA:O I was definitely feeling down, I simply missed Ferelden and the people in it. Luckily, Awakening came by, but I started dreading to finish it when I was about ten hours in the game…so I put it aside and bought ME2…Finished it two nights ago and here we are again…so now I miss both Ferelden and the Normandy. I think I will not finish Awakening for another while, not yet, I will save it for now… I don't play lots of games, and I usually get over this feeling of mild depression by putting the console aside for a while and focusing my attention on work and more ‘real’ stuff again. (A second play-through would not really solve the problem for me, and there is no game out there that I would enjoy as much as Bioware’s anyway…) Although the transition from being 'obsessed' with a game to focusing my attention to something different is never easy and takes a while. I don’t think that this kind of feeling has much to do with having a satisfying life, as someone suggested. I have nothing to complain about. Although I must admit that I have always had the tendency to get lost in imaginary words (games, books, films). I just think that, for some people, sometimes it feels as if real life just can’t keep up with imagination (either our own or someone else’s, as in the case of Bioware’s gemes). I don’t think that this is particularly strange or rare (or ‘wrong’), nor just related to gaming or specific of our time and age. So right now what I am doing to get over my post ME2 depression is to try and rationalize it, thinking that I am not the only one that gets it and that there is nothing really wrong with it. Perhaps for me it is simply time to put swords and assault rifles aside for a while and focus on more concrete stuff for a bit, until the next valid excuse to take a vacation from reality.

I haven't beaten DA:O yet, but I've had many playthroughs. In other games, when I spend 100+ hours on the game and it finally comes to an end or I'm almost done with it, I do get that depressed feeling that the grand adventure is about to end and I want more. Sometimes, just before going to the final dungeon, I'll go around to all of the other towns and think about when I first came to these places and the events that transpired. Then I'll make myself go and finish the game, and when the ending credits are over, I want some kind of encore. The only thing I have to look forward to is the next playthrough, though it's nice that Bioware gave us all of the different origins to play through and make enough origin specific references throughout the game to make it feel like a somewhat different experience each playthrough.

I've been wanting to say this for some time, and this feels like an appropriate place to say it.

Bioware, thanks for making Dragon Age: Origins, my favorite game of all time. It's almost impossible to list what I like about it since I basically like everything about it. To be fair, it was a little on the glitchy side (PS3) but it still was an amazing experience.

When I purchased it, I was in a bit of a gaming rut. I'd sort of lost interest in gaming and only played games at certain times when I felt bored. I figured this game would be an alright way to pass the time judging by the reviews.

Well, I was right and wrong. It WAS an alright way to pass the time, but much more than that. I could not stop playing the game except when I had classes or something very important to do. In roughly a week, I had finished my first playthrough with a total of around 100 hours. The entire time I played, everything just had such an epic feel to it. Once it finished, I had such a good feeling inside (BTW I think This Is War fit, it sounded awesome and related to the game.)

For a couple weeks after that, there were no games I could play that would measure up to the gaming perfection that is DAO. I read the book, and it was awesome, but just left me wanting more Dragon Age. I then made the decision to play it through again. I played it through 3 more times after that.

And then I read about Awakening. There weren't too many details early on, but I was already extremely excited reading about a full expansion to DAO (not like Warden's Keep.) Those next couple months (or so) were filled with both excitement and disappointment that it wasn't the release date yet.

At any rate, this post has gone on far too long. I just wanted to say thank you for making a game that not only had awesome combat, but an outstanding plot. This, to me, is the greatest game ever made.

Despite what the banner I made (in my sig) may say, I don't hate BioWare, they have become my favorite game developers.

Uh yeah, so bye.

I felt like I went through a breakup after finishing the game.. it was hard-core. I played it for days straight, so when it was all over I had to take a day to let Morrigan go! My virtual heart was broken and I no longer wanted to play any other games.

Now I'm playing fallout, and its great, but ultimately its missing that character connection that I just experienced with DA.

I think if Bioware had made the NPC's go out of their way to engage you and talk to you it would have been much more enjoyable. I felt like I had to continuously go force the dialogue out of them. In Kotor they would start the conversation, would have conversation with each other that you could get involved in. The useless banter as you explore the world hardly compares.

I dunno, some of the useless banter was amusing especially the alistair/morrigan putdowns.

Yes.. :(

Happened with Baldur's Gate 2 - Throne of Bhaal, and now the same. Been playing for like 2 months, enjoying the world of DA, it's people, the character relationship and all that Bioware flavour. And bam, it's over...

Sure I am kinda tempted to start a new game but damn, it will never have feeling I had while playing(and finishing) DA for the first time.

Bioware fething rocks.

I had that feeling after finishing BG2 for the first time back in late 2001. On the next day I woke up and couldn't believe it was over .. I was really really sad ... But then shorty after, the cure came .. Throne of Bhaal .. Actually, I'm playing it again after so many times ...

A cure might be to check out our fine articles on greywardens.com for a deja vu ;)

Still playing Dragon Age : Origins (thank you for mods) and it's the only game i played in 22 years that i can't still put down even after half a year (take note bioware, don't recreate a poor Awakening type Dragon Age again)

Have played abit of Splinter Cell : Conviction, it's ok, and if you like that type of game playing style, will keep you busy for abit.

Eh, I get depressed after finishing any emotionally stirring pecies of media. Video Games, books, movies, etc. If they are very good, I usually feel depressed after finishing them.

ME2 was the first time I cried at the end of a game, ever (NOTE: Think happy tears). DA was close, but I still got depressed after finishing it.

I will agree that Bioware makes some of the best games in the genre. There is one other company though that I feel is on their level(I own almost all of the games of each company), and that would be Bethesda Softworks. I've been in Love with Bioware since I first played Baldurs Gate, and Bethesda since I first played Arena. Both are the cream of the crop in the video game industry, and man, wouldn't it be something if the two of them collaborated on an RPG/MMORPG? My brain is nearly exploding trying to comprehend the awesome that would result ^^

I feel the same as you Fish Eye. I havent been able to play any other game since finishing Dragon Age.Posted Image There are so many reasons why but until DA I used to play through any and every game out there and now I just can't.

Now I am searching for a game with an awesome character creator, with romance and adventure and a great story line and fantastic and funny companions to take on missions with me. I love being able to play as a female and download the different clolthes, armor and hair and face mods to make my character even more unique and fun.

I just can't get satisfied by any other game. I bought a good few other rpgs to try from steam but havent got past the first few minutes. I am still playing through DA after having made many many characters, lost count. I am feeling like I need a break from DA but really don't know what to do with myself in my spare time as I have no desire to play anything else, ahhh dear what to do???Posted Image

Please Please Bioware bring us some more DA expansions soon! Posted ImagePosted Image

FFX was my first ever electronic RPG... lasted like 1 year 3 months due to repeat play ( I couldn't count how many times). Went back to living under my rock and now found DA. I wonder how long this will take me this time (despite all the many many MANY other RPGs out there).

Post-Game depression?

FFX after first run = 2 months (even while repeat play-through knowing what's going to come next)

DA after first run = 1 week (because I know I will still be surprised after the next runs... thank you modders).

Start playing Dragon Age, as you are already here...
