I've notieced that some people are really pissed off about Kai Leng having a "plot armor", meaning you can't kill him om Thessia. Well, guess what? You couldn't kill Saren on Virmire either and no one complains about that.
Wtf is wrong with some of you?I know, I am pissed about the endings also. I am pissed about the lack of Harbinger and about the potential that ME3 had and that wasn't used. But guys! That's no reason to bash EVERYTHING in the game. I don't think Kai Leng was so bad, sure, I would like to have an epic boss battle with Harbinger instead of him, but I really don't think it's Kai Lengs fault that that the game was rushed.
Why do some people complain about Kai Lengs "plot armor" while they masturbate as fast as they hear "Saren"?

Yes, but Saren was presented properly. Kai Leng looks like a damn joke in most cutscenes. This is why people complain.

Because Saren is sexually attractive,

But Kai Leng isn't the main villain. It's TIM or Harbinger (or the Starbrat) that's the bad guys. Kai Leng was just a weapon.

Kai Leng appears at the end of the story out of nowhere. He doesn't seem to have any real motivations, he doesn't appear to have much character at all. His dialogue is almost nonexistant, and your only real interaction with him is shooting him.
Saren is set up as your rival carefully through the first ME game. He has clear motivation, character, and passion. He believes in what he is doing. He is trying to save the galaxy, even indoctronated as he is.
Saren is a tragic character.
What is Kai leng? Your guess is as good as mine.

For me it was because Kei leng deployed his plot armor twice, once on the citadel and then again on Thessia. Plot armor once is OK for me as it focuses my attentions on him to make the kill more satisfying but if you deploy it more than once then it starts to become a cheap joke.
Also as other people have said Saren was set up properly, having not read the books I didn't know who Kei Leng was nor why I should care.

They have him get the best of Shep no less than 3 times in cutscenes even when his a complete ****.
The cutscene is done well with Saren

As people have stated it is because Kai Leng has no character which is a shame considering how well written he is in the novels. Thus he appear to simply be a reskinned Phantom, something the player can shoot at without any real purpose behind it.

Saren never puts himself in a situation where it would actually be really easy to kill him. On Virmire he shows up, ruins your sh*t, and leaves. He has super powerful shields, a hoverboard, and a freaking Geth arm.
Kai Leng, on the other hand, jumps down from the rafters in the citadel and just menaces his target. What kind of assassin announces his presence like that? Then he gets his but kicked by a terminally ill Drell.
Don't even get me started on the skycar scene. Even I could have killed Kai Leng in that situation.
Basically Kai Leng is lame.

Saren didn't "need to recharge" after 2-3 blasts of a shotgun. Saren was actually convincingly tough.

Virmire was an undisputed draw. Just a sneak preview of the final boss.
Kai Leng, a Phantom with extra health, 'beats' you on Thessia regardess of how easilly you spam overload on his shields from complete safety. That the leaked script included an epic battle in place of this is just salt on the wound.
Not to mention that Saren actually had a personality to speak of. Kai Leng should've been Darth Vader. They made him Darth Maul.

Saren was the primary antagonist of Mass Effect, Kai Leng is a named mook. This is a terrible comparison.

Saren- introduced in first real mission as a rogue Human-hating spectre that shoots his friend in the back.
Kai Leng - introduced in the middle of the game as space ninja assasin with sword.
Ok. Really, why bash that character? It is so well presented, has such a rich story behind him and most importantly fits the ME universe so well, that it is... correct?

Because plot armour should always be hidden behind the illusion of moral choice or any other good example of why something specefic has to happen.
Kai Leng was originally intended to have placed a bomb at the temple that greatly injoured both Shepard and a squad mate, while still leaving Shepard hanging from the... well the collapsing floor. In this version there was no gunship and probably no "cover me I have to recharge".
People feel as if the cutscene is just a cheap reasoning for why the game has to drag you to TIM's base. Had it been done as mentionend above then people would probably have been fine with it.

Because the plot armour made Thane go borderline idiot (oh hay, let me strike a DRAMATIC POSE WITH A GUN instead of firing it like the non mentally-challenged badass I am) and the fact that we could easily kill him on several occasions but instead we have to watch Leng: Space Ballerina pirouette across the screen in defiance of basic storytelling and gameplay mechanics.

Maybe because Saren was a well thought out, sympathetic villain.
Kai Leng was a cool character in the novels, made into a stereotypical space ninja idiot in the game.

Because Saren was presented as a genuine and credible threat to Shepard? There is also alot of other reasons but all the other posters have said most of them.

It was satisfying. But it was satisfying because I had been thinking why did they introduce this new character at the end of this story for most of the game at this point. I actually wanted to like him, but they gave me nothing, no info, very little dialogue. He helped give Thane an awesome send off. That was the only worthwhile thing he ever did.
He could have just as easily just been a phantom and gotten the same result.

Saren vs Shepard in Virmire signified his BAness, and that says a lot considering how rigid ME's FPS system was.
Kai Leng's "Why backflips no dodge bullets?" and Cerberus squad/gunship bailout ruined his chance for being the same BA.

Saren did not provoke a "WTF a ninja in space" reaction, he was actually a worthy opponet, had a proper introduction and was a charismatic villain.
His Virmire fight also didn't have a HUD spoiler saying you can't actually kill him there. Thessia did. At the beginning of the Kai Leng Thessia fight you actually get "Fight Kai Leng" objective in the middle of the screen. I stress "Fight".
