She is honest, always says what she means about people.

She has strong integrity.

She uses sarcasm, considered intelligent and witty humor by most.

She know what she wants and how to enjoy life.

She spits in the face of religion and people living in its lies,  she hates the weakminded feeble sheep that follows such stupidity. Meaning she is strongwilled and sees the world for what it is.

She is surprisingly sane and lively for growing up in the middle of a swamp with a maleficar shapeshifter as a mother. Consider you going through the same.

She has one of the greatest traits of wisdom a person can possess, critical thinking.

Allthough she seeks immortality (wont spoil how here) who wouldnt? Its self preservation and anyone would do the same. Unless they are some self rightious idiot (Yes you would have to be an idiot to turn down immortality, and royally so)

I cant understand how people can NOT like morrigan. She is a great person and though she has her faults she possess strength and spirit like few real world girls has these days. The "Badgirl" image isnt that major imo.

Seeing the either "Hate or like" view on her id say the devs did a tremendous job making her. But i cant help to see her good traits overshadowing her bad traits by a huuuuuge margin. I think girls that dont like her personality is jealous of her intelligence, sharpness of mind and strength to stand up for herself.

People either live together or against each other. She seems to be very much the latter. Nothing makes up for that.

Um she lied to the grey warden about the real purpose of Flemeth saving them. She even did an academy award performance in acting shocked that Flemeth sent her away. So she's about as honest as everyone else, and that doesn't particularly make her unique.

Spitting in the face of religion isn't a good thing. It shows that you disrespect people who are different from you, or who have different beliefs. Even if you don't believe other people's beliefs, you should respect their right to live the way they want to. Why should Morrigan be respected if she doesn't show respect herself?

More like she is intolerant. Another proof of this is when she thinks all the mages in the Circle Tower should be killed simply for being sheep and because they do not live like her.

She hates the Chantry, yet has no problem joining forces with the Andraste Cult. More like Morrigan has some case of insanity going on, and if she reveals critical thinking, it is just the case of monkeys and typewriters. Eventually, she WILL say  something that can be considered intelligent. People have even joked with the "Morrigan disapproves" because it is so random and seems to have no logic.

But at best, I don't find her particularly any more intelligent than other people.

That's more like a case of an intolerant petulant teenager going on. Immortality is cool, and if people disagree, they are idiots and self-righteous. Therefore I'm right. Me me me me me me me.

People seem to confuse being rebellious, rude and obnoxious as strong. It's more like people haven't outgrown their teenager angst. It's not a good thing.

I consider Morrigan damaged goods due to being abused by her mother, to the point where she even thinks love is a weakness. It's not her fault that she thinks that way due to her upbringing, but it's not right all the same.

In the end, it's all a matter of opinion.

OP are you serious? Actually a lot of women are real lilfe Morrigans. A real life Morrigan would dump you (if you are her lover) as soon as she finds you no longer useful. She is interested only in gaining power and wealth. It is not survival when she sees people as merely pawns and tools to be manipulated. Guess you like to do that to people huh?

Nihilism isnt in my eyes about removing positive values, but to remove negative, unnecessary and trivial values not based on truth. And break down reality to what is 100% proven. Nihilism is objective truth and is only negative when used for subjective purposes based on peoples egos. It isnt destructive or bad in itself.

Edit: What IS bad is wasting life on anything not proven by science. Ergo basing your life on lies. This isnt noble, good or positive in anyway and if people all follow this path, then welcome to the dark ages v.2

Heh.  Sarcasm is used far more frequently in real life than most people notice.

There are, of course, the obvious moments of sarcasm when someone clearly says the opposite of what they really mean. 

There are also far more subtle uses of sarcasm deployed by normal people in normal situations every day.  We use it as a test statement to fish for how other people feel.  We use it to guide or redirect conversations.  This is not weakness, it's skillful social behavior

Just as a quick example, most office workplaces are political to some degree.  There are camps and sides, and it can be dangerous to reveal who you do or do not like.  Conversations with peers often take the form of praising a manager for a trait he's not actually good at.  This is a method of eliciting, from your peers, the opposite point of view.  It's also a method of hedging, which is a thing smart people do.  That is, if your peers seem to honestly agree with your statement, you have learned something about where they stand and how you need to act around them in the future.

It's not weakness at all.  It's savvy game playing in an environment where apparent attitude can count.

The use of sarcasm can also be a method of gauging the intelligence and perceptiveness of those around you.  Many people simply don't get it.  You can say something in a context where it should be absolutely clear that you mean the opposite of what you say, yet some people will fail to notice.

Both are methods of sorting people.  Not weakness.  Some might say manipulating people rather than sorting, but that's just strength in another form.

A third use of sarcasm is simply as an expression of wit.  If you look to many ancient sources such as Norse sagas, etc., you see that the strongest and most honorable of men employed sarcasm frequently.  This is because in the pre-renaissance days, verbal skill was somewhat synonymous with martial skill (the Norse god Odin was both a god of war and a god of poetry).  Morrigan's use of sarcasm seems to fall into this category, imo.

Just like how people have the right to smoke themselves to death, or drink till they get liver problems. You cannot tell them hey, you're killing yourself, stop smoking or drinking. That's an even worse way to waste your life on something as damaging as smoking, alcohol and drugs.
If people want to waste their lives smoking or drinking, that's their problem. If people want to waste their lives on things that you don't believe, that's their problem. Some things work for some people, some things don't.

If everyone was as "practical" as Morrigan, then nobody would feel the need to go beyond what they have. The world would stagnate. If you're so into science, then you know that struggle and evolving is the natural way of things. Morrigan doesn't evolve. She exists in her image and nothing outside of that matters. She accepts nothing that doesn't fit in her ideals. Talk about being closed-minded.

I don't know about that. I liked her well enough as a character, but she isn't exactly someone I'd want to be more like. I certainly can't find anything to be jealous of. Except her bewbies maybe.
