I think it's ugly so I never use it.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to fit anyone particularly well, and the panels around the waist just look... weird. It seems to be modeled loosely after the dwarven style plate, but it just doesn't look right. I generally ignore it, except for putting it on a certain NPC that isn't strong enough to wear massive armour when first added to the party. I've never bought any of the extra pieces, and I refuse to sell it on most of my characters because it just makes no sense for anyone other than a human noble to even have it. I would've preferred it were at least quested, and even better that it had a different graphic so it doesn't look so ill-fitting.

This is a good time to remind people of the four basic subgroups of Dragon Age Players:

1. Phat Lewters - Powergamers that love nothing more than to acquire overpowered equipment for little or no effort involved.

2. Achievement Wh0res - Entities that craves any kind of digital performance enhancing scores that increase their epeen on various sites that cater to them.

3. Brand Fanbois - Fanatics that will purchase and consume any and all things Bioware, regardless of the quality of product, because Bioware is teh awesome.

4 Oldskool Playas - Elders of games past that use nostalgia to cloud their minds into think that current products will emulate what has be offered before.

Oldskool Playa all the way. Sue me...
But as far as the Blood Dragon armor goes, I did get it and have been slowly replacing it piece by piece as I come across better armor.

I never bothered to download it. 1 piece of l00t isn't worth typing in the authorization code and going through the rigamarole that the Stone Prisoner took.

And Bonus Items are for the weak, anyway. I figure that the game was balanced to be most fun without any of that stuff.

Given my extreme distrust of EA, I've been ignoring all of the "DLC", every bit of it, until I can have it totally under my personal control, as in on a separate optical disk that runs just fine without a connection to the 'Net, and especially without EA or any EA-influenced web site keeping the puppet strings tight.

You can already almost do that...

Visit the tech support forum.  There's a sticky topic about DLC that provides direct links to the DAZIP files for all of the available DLC.  Download any DLC that you're entitled to and then burn them all to a disc.  Register your promotional codes to your EA account.  Install the DLC with the DAUpdater utility, and run DA:O while logged into your account once to verify your entitlements.  From now on, you can play completely offline.  I do it all the time.

If you're expecting them to ever remove the "authenticate once" part, you're going to be waiting for a very, very long time.  I don't think that they'll ever do it, and I'm glad for it.

I sold it hoping someday I would have the money to buy it back.

But I dont know if I care to buy it back now that I have the strength to wear it. Since Im already wearing so pretty massive stuff.

I was getting at the vanity point. But if it is a true role your playing then you should be useing the best weapons possible no matter what. I think it shows a lot when I see some kid playing a game and not useing armor with great stats, because it doesn't look as cool as his shinny aluminum foil hat.

Well, I'm totally opposed to that. Roleplaying for me involves a certain amount of realism, and although I admit that I picked up some chainmails dropped by... err... wolves... (maaan Bioware... that hurts), growing up in the elven alienage, poor as a church mouse, but even though starving to death carrying a ridioculous robocop armor in my backpack since I was born stretches the realism and roleplay aspects quite a bit too far for my taste. And yes, it's freaking ugly and doesn't fit into the setting if you ask me, so I simply ignore it and treat it as the goodie for the kids who like to play "Terminator vs. the 13th Century".
I totally admit looks matter to me, I want a certain degree of immersion in my game. That Juggernaut armor was suitable for a soon-to-be king Alistair, and even though damn ugly too, I thought Oghren would feel good in a Legion of the Death armor, so I've had him wear it. And sooner or later you can beat the game in any kind of armor anyway, probably even only wearing chantry robes... hmm... there's an idea... :?

I never even redemed the code for it. Way too much extra buff items got dumped on us to be starting with.

I've not used it at all.... honest.... *hopes no-one looks at the avatar*

I've used it for my two warriors and usually sell it first thing for the rest of my characters so they can't even go back to buy them again.

So what about me? I like to play a game for the story, and hope that the gameplay will be good enough to keep me interested. I don't think I fall into your 4 basic subgroups.

I love the armor. It is still the only armor in the game that actually has good stats on them. Theres definitely not enough interesting loot in this game.

I've recently realised that it's the best armour I have for Sten, so he's wearing it (just the main piece - I never bought the rest of it).

The Blood Dragon Armor is essential for your party, especially in the Deeps. Since there are no torches, light spells or lanterns, my grey warden would easily be ambushed and overwhelmed without this Battlestar Galactica armor which sheds enough light via its little blinking gadgets to illuminate a football stadium.

No , seriously - best thing about the armor is that the vendor gave me some gold for it.

I used it on my warrior. Admittedly, it was stupid powerful. I recently replaced it for a similar tier massive armor. I ran my warrior's STR up so he could equip it, put it on, then some enemies would surround me and hit me for 1. I don't like it any more, but it helped me to learn the tanking aspect of the class, as well as get/maintain threat for the earlier levels when I didn't have all the key abilities.

I used it on my first playthrough a bit but ignored it totally on my 2nd. It's not only ugly but the set isn't that great. 38 str so you don't use it for low levels and by mid-high levels the lack of stats outside the chestpiece kills it.

I downloaded it but sold it.  I either use Alistair in leather with a dagger/board setup or Shale as a Con-tank.  Sometimes both for tough fights.  I'll probably try an armor-based tank at some point and will give it a try then.  If I ever make or use a 2-hand warrior, I might equip it, but that's a long shot.

Hence the reason I used the term 'basic subgroups' instead of 'absolute groups'. You would be affectionately known as a 'free radical' in terms of your gaming preferences. :wizard:

I used it on Alistair in one playthrough. Since then I just vendor it for early game cash. The stats are nice even after the nerf, but I really don't enjoy the style. It just looks dumpy and silly. It might look okay if the signature dragon were gone, but that would defeat kill the uniqueness as well. I'll be throwing other massive armors on my warriors in the future.

I thought the Blood Dragon Armor is the best tanking armor, giving a nice boost to health.

I usually give it to Sten. He's the only one it really looks decent on, it makes Humans look fat (and probably Elves too) and I don't really use Oghren too much so he doesn't wear it either.

Blood Dragon Armor's a good 7 gold if you sell it at the start! Good boost for early backpacks/etc.

Also used it in my first playthrough and kept it as my main char´s armor until the end, since there is nothing really better than the blood dragon armor. I disabled it though in my further playthroughs, like most of the other free stuff they just put into your inventory.
Especially when you play "poor" origins, like city elf and dwarven commoner, it feels out of place imho.

That reminds me I wanted to look for a mod, that makes the bonus items boss drops or merchant ware. Anyone knows if such a mod already exists?
