Also, everytime I hear Liara complain about figthing Banshees, I feel like screaming:
"Asari, what do you think that those Husks we have been killing since day 1 used to be!?"

Oh me too!  It was like the war wasn't real to her until bad things started happening to asari.

Speaking of which, you never hear GARrus ****ing about the Marauders being turians. He just mans up and deals with it.

I don't hate the asari themselves, but I dislike the fact that they are unimaginative and created mainly for fanservice purposes.

The asari government is pretty awful too of course, but so was the dalatrass, Admiral Gerrel, the Council, Udina, etc. so the asari aren't exactly alone on that one.

People dislike Thessia more because the mission lacks the quality of Tuchanka + Ranoch. Also Kai leng

Quick Edit: Another issue people have is Shep's forced emotional reaction to the fall of Thessia. He gets very angry and depressed regardless of how the player feels, which generally matches up.

And this is usually due to the fact that they think Shepard is upset because it's Thessia. No, Shepard is upset because the mission failed and they didn't get the data. It had nothing to do with Thessia. If the mission on Tuchanka had failed, Shepard would have been just as upset. Without the information on the MacGuffin—I mean Catalyst—the whole Crucible project was in jeopardy.

There's alot to that too!  As a race of magic, blue, space-lesbian, elves.  The asari are conceptually ridiculous from the word go.

The reapers might have been defeated without the Crucible if the Asari shared that beacon with the rest of the galaxy as soon as they found it.

That's a good reason to hate their leaders. It's not a good reason to wish the deaths of billions of people who are completely unaware of what you just said.

Hate might be a strong word, but there is a strong undercurrent of irritation towards the asari gov't. I was mad when my Shepard was all 'omg so sorry' when I, personally, wanted to reach across time and space and slap the s--t out of the counselor for sitting on this information and acting like it was my damn fault when her decisions helped lead to Thessia's downfall.

I harbour no personal dislike towards any race in the game, but I have problem with wanting to kick certain politicians's teeth in.

I know:o! You  could play the most duplicious and cold hearted renegade, but Shep still acts all broken up when he should be chokin' a b*tch!

I agree with choking a b itch, but the rest of the Asari don't deserve what is happening to them, but their leaders do. I would drop the councilor off next to the nearest Reaper.

I don't have any problem with the Asari. I don't like how they hid the Prothean beacon while the galaxy burned around them however. If I were a high ranking Asari official, I would have gladly given that information to the alliance or the Turians (perhaps in a covert way that doesn't directly link me to the "discovery" of the beacon by alliance. In other words, the Asari people are great, but their government is terrible.

I've noticed that's a distinction most simply cannot make for some reason

If the Control ending had me wiping out the asari instead of the geth I'd have run like the wind towards the red tube.

(Fortunately my irrational inexplicable racism/xenophobia only extends to fictional blue women.)

Cool blaming the people for what the goverment does... Oh wait humanity did a lot of stupid ****.
Alot of humans are anti alien to the point of xenophobia. Pay attention to me1

Government?  Speaking only for myself, but it's the larger asari culture that grates on me.

Oh, this should be good.

Please, elaborate.    *popcorn*

Well... there's not much to it actually.  The asari are a highly uniform and conformist people (that irks me right off the bat).  They have a relatively specific vision of how they think things should be run (with them at the top of the heap of course).  And they use fairly dispicable means to coerce others into going along with them.

I really like the Thessia mission, finding that Athame was a prothean and just because of that the asari are more advanced than the other races is a nice plot twist.

Ok, the "fight" with Kai Leng is lame but overall it's an awesome mission.

So...  You hate the Asari because they're the bastard daughters of Donnel Udina and the Illusive Man?  I personally romanced Liara in all three Mass Effect games, but I guess I can see your point.

I do not agree with it, but I think I can shed some light on the anti-Asari sentiment. Perhaps even Anti-Asari people don't realise what they are doing, so perhaps they too can learn something from these words.

It is rather simple... it is the anti-elf syndrome. Some people just hate elves, just go to any fantasy game forum and you will quickly find a small group of people that hate the elves. If you have friends that love fantasy you can bet you know atleast one of them that hates the elves.

The Asari are a victim of this 'hate' because they are ME "elves". It is like how in Star Trek some people hated the Vulcans for no apparent reason or hated the Minbari in Babylon 5. The minute you introduce a race that is older, wiser, more powerful, and naturally 'magical/psychic/biotic' you will get people that will just hate them.

With that initial hate they will go out and then find in lore reasons to justify that hate. Thessia mission was like a treasure chest of tid bits to validate their contempt, but at its root it is just an old hatred some people have of the 'pretty race'.

An asari stole my girlfriend, cut me off in traffic the other day, and my roommate is an asari who always clogs the toilet but says she doesn't know how to plunge it. That's why we hate asari.

Means, not actions.  But mainly setting up a racial caste system and coercing others to join it.

Yeah but it's future!Earth. Surely you'd want to see what Seattle looks like fused to Vancouver? Surely you'd want to explore the Blade Runnery underbelly of a city? If there is one thinf the ME series is good at it's having a distinct art style.
