I apologize for what I am about to do to anyone that gets stuck with me. I have never played MP before and have NO desire to. However..BW lied and you can NOT get the "best" ending without mp. Thus forcing many of us that don't want to and should NOT be into..MP.
Again...I'm really sorry.

If ' BREATH' Is the best ending then i thought even minimum could achieve it.

From what I hear, it is technically possible to get 5000 EMS(The amount required to get the best ending) purely through single-player.

However, to do that you have to pretty much maximize your war assets across all 3 games.

Eh I not sure. I went into my SP final mission with > 7000 EMS, at about 98%, so without MP it would be about 3500.. would that have been sufficient for a good ending?

You really have to run about a lot more, gathering up the Search and Rescue, talking to Civvies, running N7 missions and side quests in order to hit that high. But even with all that done, it's a 40hr run.

MP is fun. :D But no, MP is not required for the 'best' ending. You just haven't played enough.

Nope..MANY have tried and done the math.  A Dev even apologized.  Tho I am sure that is long covered. Backed out of my first mission....let's see if I can try again.

Welcome. Just remember to set your challenge level to Bronze when you quick match when you're just starting.  All skill levels are welcome there.  Who knows, you might enjoy multiplayer and decide to stay.

Edit: Strange, post didn't show up for 5+ minutes. E;FB now, but the point still bears repetition ;)
Just make sure to manually select Bronze difficulty instead of random. Nobody should kick you or care if you're terrible/new, at least on Bronze.

What you heard is wrong. People have gone into the game files and looked at all possible war assets you can get. The 'best' ending is only available via MP.

Wave 10 and Wave 11 in Bonze can get more than one Atlas. Also, if there was an objective you needed to complete, things will continue to spawn until you finish it.

This is my first MP as well (and I played it for the same reasons -to get the "best" ending).  However, I found it to be a lot of fun (with the right team) and most people seem to be very nice (although that could be because most don't seem to have a mic on the PCImage IPB )

Feel free to PM me if you're on the PC and want to join a match.  I only play on Bronze, and I'm not great - but I enjoy playing.

It is.  Search it.  At least player defined best ending, which requires ems to be 5000, so tms to be 10000.  Bioware decided to call synergy the best ending which requires 2500 or 5000 tms, which is frankly rather easy if you imported two games and played straight paragon.

I was mostly just reading it off the wiki admittedly. They have the number of each individual war asset, but nowhere can I find what the total max number of making the "best" choices should be, and I was too lazy to add them all up.

Gold is usually 4 Atlases that are significantly stronger. Though it's not too bad since you do have 3 other squadmates, as long as you are actually playing it multi-player.

Again..A DEV admited this.  Thus forcing how many into MP...Again I am soooo sorry to anyone I get grouped with.

I felt the same way when I started, but now I'm completely addicted to MP. Start on Bronze, the folks are generally friendly. Stick to your team and you'll be fine.

Make sure you're not playing a class that relies on time-dilation skills in SP (such as the Soldier). Since these effects don't happen in MP, your ability to fight will be severely hampered if you have come to rely on these effects for your combat strategy.

I don't typically do MP either, but I tried this out for the hell of it, (the lolz as they say these days) and found I really enjoyed the experience. It isn't the solo game, by any stretch of the imagination, but it can get intense and exciting ... and the fact that you're playing *with* other people, rather than against them means you have to put up with less hatred and vitriol.

Nah. Bronze only gets one Atlas per wave. The wave 10 kill objective is an Atlas, then Combat Engineers or Assault Troopers. On 11, once the first Atlas dies there are no more.

As others have stated, starting on bronze will allow you to get a feel for multiplayer mechanics. It's suggested that you use your credits to purchase recruit packs until your common weapons reach rank X, common weapons being the blue background ones (uncommon is silver, rare is gold and black is N7/ultra rare). The starting weapons are quite good at higher ranks, as such you can easily equip two weapons (heavy pistol and smg as an example) on a power class and keep a 200% cooldown bonus. Anywho, welcome to multiplayer.

Never seen a double Atlas in Extraction on Bronze either. Not saying it's not possible, just not likely; the Wave system works on a budget and Atlas eats too much to make an Extraction challenging if there's two of them.
