So 5 years from now when I want to get the best ending and play through all three games again I will be screwed because the multiplayer servers will be offline? Awesome.
Other games that have had similar elements typically come out with some kind of patch to fix those problems when the servers go off line. Alternately, you could probably find a cheat online right now that would do the same thing.

That being said, like others have said, if you're playing on Bronze, MP is pretty easy/relaxing. You may even find out that you like it. While there are some bugs/frustrating bits, I've gotten a lot more enjoyment from MP vs SP.
Alternatively, if you're on PC you can use Gibb's Save Game Editor (svn.gib.me/builds/masseffect3/) and just modify your War Assets number.
If you hang around the forums and know what the devs have said, I'm sure you know that your EMS doesn't actually effect the ending much...

Eh I not sure. I went into my SP final mission with > 7000 EMS, at about 98%, so without MP it would be about 3500.. would that have been sufficient for a good ending?
You really have to run about a lot more, gathering up the Search and Rescue, talking to Civvies, running N7 missions and side quests in order to hit that high. But even with all that done, it's a 40hr run.
Why the **** does it matter so much lol

Here's what happened..I tried to play infil as I do in game and FAILED. I got my 5 head shots then figured out this was NOT like single player and had my rear handed to me. I paniced and haned the keyboard to my son. HE saved the crew, not me.
Soo do we REALLY want non MPers playing to get a "good' ending? Plz keep this thread alive. BW needs to fix.

this was also my first multiplayer shooter
and i faced the reapers in MP before i had faced a banshee in the story... after that i pretty much kept the settings to bronze/cerberus for the next week. Those things are terrifying

Try either a Soldier, specializing in Concussive Shot spam, or an Adept, especially Asari if you already have her. These two classes on Bronze are fairly straight forward. Use the Concussive Spam to control the enemy and not on the gun to kill them. Adepts are more Biotic Detonation centric, and can be very powerful when utilized right.

You're playing a lonely class in MP. Infiltrators are important to the team, but not the easiest as it requires steady aim. Also needs to keep the wave objectives in mind.

Hmm so the class I destroy in single..usless in MP. I'd throw myself into the fire as a shield, do anything to help my squadies, but that doesn't traslate well here.
Again my point is...MP should NOT be forced. It's not good for either side.

Infiltrator isn't useless in MP. It's probably one of (if not the) most useful and powerful classes. MP just take some getting used to is all.
I agree that MP shouldn't be forced.

Try not to bring over too much from SP. Shepard is ultimately the top-of-line semi-human, with N7 implants, Cybernatic rebuilds from Cerberus, and Protean mind-screwing. End of day, Shepard is already questionably human. The "N7 Operatives" in MP aren't even N7 rated, so they are very good human soldiers, but not Shepard-level.
Infiltrator in SP has the major advantage of time-dilation, which makes it easier to kill things in SP. MP can't have that without screwing over your teammates in real life. This makes the infiltrator class harder than in SP, but not unsurmountable.
Ah. Just want to point out, MP is built along the lines of Special Ops. There's no real need for a meat shield in special ops -- concentrate on the objectives. Waves 3, 6 and 10 are objective waves, and Infiltrators are very good at these waves.

I've quit a few matched early (before wave 3) because I searched for a Silver match, but the host changed it to bronze without me noticing.

Try out a few of the other classes and see how they work for you. I love the Salarian Engineer, and had great fun with the Drell Adept. (had edge of your seat fun with the Drell Vanguard as well, but I'm not very good with it, realistically speaking. [that said, there are those of us who will happily play with anyone newbing it or just wanting to try a new class and who aren't familiar with its ins and outs yet.])
Feel free to look me up on PC when you play, Origin name is the same as my screen name.

Well, presumably the new ending DLC will take "best possible ending" into account.

This is my first MP too. I was very nervous but I found the best class for me was some sort of engineer. The Quarian was my favorite when I finally got her but being any kind of engineer gives you a drone or something that helps you and the team. When banshees stop to look at the engineer drone, it still cracks me up. Think of it like a "helper" and you will enjoy it a lot more. I can't snipe very well so I'm not big on the infiltrator but I was that character in SP and it was easier for some reason. Good luck and pick teams with a Krogan or two and just follow them around shooting their leftovers and using your drone. You will be surprised how much damage you can do.
See..in ME3 (the real game) I snipe and drop 'em like nothing. MP is not set up like that. I am learning that there are better options for people like me that are forced into MP. But I don't play them in game so not only is MP new to me, I have to deal with classes new to me or in the case of mine..being almost usless.

Inf from the Single Player game into MP is a bizarre shift, I know. I never played anything but Infiltrators in the SP game ... well, one Vanguard, but never beat it with that character ... so I had to learn everything from scratch as well; the learning curve isn't really that hard, though it might seem intimidating at first. (yet you can always continue to get better at it, as well, so there's that drive to keep playing ... on a good day I am a monster on Silver ... on a bad day I'm scratching my head and wondering why I used all my medigels on the first Wave. The biggest issue is just not to stress it and assume your other playmates are nice people who understand and remember what it is like coming into it new.)

From what I hear, it is technically possible to get 5000 EMS(The amount required to get the best ending) purely through single-player.
However, to do that you have to pretty much maximize your war assets across all 3 games.
Yeah it's really unlikely... I imported an ME2 shepard with a couple things that helped, obviously some that didn't... but i also did EVERY SINGLE SIDE QUEST IN THE GAME and ended up with like 7k EMS, but with a GR only at 50% (as it will be without MP)..
That only puts me at 3500 which is not enough for the best ending, so it's a good thing i love the MP lol

It was said before, but I'll reiterate: the infiltrator class is far from useless. It ranks well up there in "most useful" in fact. The situation is simply that it isn't the same class as it is in SP. No time dialation means you have to retrain your reflexes a bit, and/or figure out a stun->headshot routine. I would say it is a difficult class to master, but a good MP infiltrator is an invisible wrecking ball.
Infiltrator is one of my favorite classes in both SP and MP. Problem is, I kinda suck at it in MP for the aforementioned reasons. So, when I hopped onto MP, I gravited toward the classes that I liked most in SP (adept, vanguard, infiltrator, in no particular order). Turns out, I'm having a torrid love affair with no less than three variants of the engineer class. Now that is hot alien on alien action. I bring this up because I have never done (nor had any inclination to) an engineer roll in any of the games.
In summary, you may find your mojo in an unexpected place. It's different than SP, but it's mega-fun if you give it a proper chance.
