Okay, seriously, what is going on? I'm trying to play my *single player* game that has already repeatedly had my legally purchased DLC verified and now the game won't let me play it? I've tried exiting and restarting Origin about three times now and it hasn't helped.

(edited to be less vitriolic)

Oh, no, I had not seen that. Thank you very much for the link, TL113. Always nice to know that there are competent and observant people such as yourselves roaming the boards. :D

For anyone who saw my less-than-polite earlier post, I do apologize.

I don't really see the problem, personally. I'm not nearly drunk enough for multiplayer yet. It's a hassle that I can't play the SP though.

It is, however, unacceptable that the SINGLE player aspects have to be down. This is ridiculous DRM- that if there is a server malfunction (or any other interruption), a single player piece of software becomes unusable.

Especially because it knows that I have the Collector's Edition (the software seems to have a different flag or something), which means that, um... the DLC was free? Hello? Why should I have to authorise something that is free?

Workaround: deactivate or unplug your NIC. If you have zero internet connection (not just signed off from Origin), you can use it. I guess that means that in 10 years, it'll still work, maybe, when EA is out of business? Assuming you have no internet connection...

Of course, this workaround is not tenable except for a temporary solution as nobody will live without an internet connection, so don't ban me :)

Oh, it's in case you're a pirate and you suddenly and restrospectively turn out to have not bought it in spite of that not being the case all the previous times they've checked.  Whereas it's not piracy for EA to take your money and then not let you use what you've paid for.  Funny old world.

Well technically it's not that you can't play the single player portion at all, just no game that features any sort of DLC. New games? Fine. DLC games? Not fine.

That doesn't particularly lend itself to people being prompted to actually want to purchase DLC, does it?

Thanx TL. Missed that (usually I only see the 'last reply' description in the news and announcements ;)
But to be honest I still think SP campaigns should be accessible when servers are down. I am OK (tho I do not like it) with the authorization whenever servers are up but when they are down...just DON'T authorize if that means we annot play. Or think of something else that works!

Just to clarify and avoid any confusion, this does NOTHING to remove any ability to install or acquire any DLC material, which does still require connection to an EA server. Without an internet connection at all, ultimately, you still can't play as you won't have an install at all.

It works for me, but I have lost two weapons in the process. Simply amazing. I can't choose the Geth Plasma SMG or the Kishock Harpoon Rifle anymore. How could scheduled downtime cause problems?? I mean how could it "CAUSE PROBLEMS" when it's supposed to solve them??? Unbelievable...

EDIT : for some reason, relaunching the game made them reappear. Go figure...

Were you logged in? Playing the game while logged in reverts any changes you've made to the Coalesced file. Actually, just starting the game while logged in will do that. This is why you should always keep a backup copy of your edited Coalesced file.
