I don't really agree with your methodology here. You're asking to many questions for a single choice poll system. Unfortunately Bioware's polling system does not support "choose all that apply," which is what you really need to do this right.

This really needs to be a series of polls.

Do you Like or Dislike?

Have you spent money?

Would you spend (more) money if it wasn't random?

Would you spend (more) money if one item wasn't random?

=====

Your poll does not do a good job explaining the choices. Also a stance like Eelectrica's is not covered well.

That could be
"Option 1 or 2 + but I would prefer a system where I knew what I was buying."

or

"Option 1 or 2 + I would probably spend (more) real money in a system where I knew what I was buying"

You're splitting the votes between to many similarly worded questions. If I were to go about interpreting your current poll numbers I'd actually be looking at the combination of the last four potions.

Additionaly this

"Option 1 or 2 + but I would prefer a system where I knew what I was buying."

and

"Option 3 or 4 + and I would prefer a system where I knew what I was buying."

Are basically telling you the same thing but in less direct language. "I would prefer a system where I knew what I was buying."

Stacking that up with people who would be willing to spend money if they knew your results, shifts it dramatically. 16% approve and don't want any change to 83% who'd be okay (to our right want) a change.

====

This why professional polling is done using a series of questions, and using the same questions but worded differently. You want to be able to track many different vairables in peoples responces.

Thank you for the constructive criticism!

My methododology is a layman's one, I am sure, but my motives and strategies were explained in my earlier posts.

I agree with you that this should have been a series of polls, but (applying serious generalization) low N7 players tend to like the system, while more experienced people, after having unlocked everything with tedious effort are becoming less and less interested. We are almost two months into the game and signs of player attrition have started to surface (nothing to worry about, but the signs are there), so the poll and the questions are pretty late in my opinion. As a result, tbh, I chose to do 1 poll instead of several, because I had concerns about generating interest even for 1, let alone an entire series of them.Nevertheless, being a "friend hoarder, most people on my Origin friends list agree that the store system needs to change, and coupled with my own feelings towards it I thought: why not try and gather some data?

Actually, I am focusing on the last 4 options, as they provide information on spending habits, with a will to change.

I am hoping for a sample size of about 1000 votes, which is a commonly used sample size is surveys and statistics. When we reach it, I will definitely make the next stage more elaborate and clear.

Thanks again for the info and the bump as well!

As the sample grows, the ratio of dislikes over likes seems to increase:
status update: 25.04.2012 12.00 CET

dislikes: 56
likes: 44

The poll has nearly 1/3 or the desired sample size. VOTE PEOPLE! :)

It think its is a very good poll, but the answers do suprise me at the moment: only 56% dislike the current system... I would have thought that there were more dislikes. There may be a reason for this though:

If someone is new to the community, or doesn't have all unlocks, chances are that he or she will "like" the system, or at least not have anything against it for the time being, as most packs contain at least some sort of upgrade.

Frustrations only really start to show when people have unlocked everything up to, and including rare weapons, and they realize that character cards start to take the role of "blanks", contributing even less than the standard blue cards.

Today is burst-spend 3.060.000 credits on 61 spectre packs, and got a total of 4 ultra rares. Thats not the point though. As i have all other weapons fully unlocked, i also got 61 character cards - of which 41 was for already fully maxed characters. Thats quite frustrating. It would be nice to see consumeables at least on an equal chance as getting an already unlocked character.

EDIT: Vote people! We need a decent sample size if BW is going to take it serious.

Update: 25.04.2012 22.30 CET

Rounded up figures show that dislikes/likes is still 55/45.

Sample size is 330, vote/view ratio is still better than 1/3, although slight worsening is apparent.

Would people be more receptive to the Character Cards if they were rewarded for promoting characters? I'm thinking I'd be a lot happier if I was rewarded with a Spectre or at least a Veteran Pack for each character I promote. Then... on to tackle maxed out weapons and my endless supply of damned Thermal Clip Packs. Lord I wish I could trade some of those for Medi-Gel, Cobras, or Ops Packs.

Promotion reward is again another unsettling issue. Instead of the toatall useless +10 N7 ranks it would be nice getting something that actually makes a difference in the game.

It has been, if I've counted correctly, 27 Spectre packs since I last received a weapon. They've taken 480k credits of mine with no hope of getting it back (failed pack purchases). They've taken real money from folks who continue to ask for a resolution. The entire store system is an unmitigated failure and they should flush it now.

I think BW should call his Store somthing like Casino or like, because when you buying in store, you usually know what you are buying.Equipment packs are OK.
Blizzard was in Diablo  a lot more fair than BW.You could buy normal or magical items for (virtual)gold or you can gamble and spent insane amounts of gold  for chance to get set and unique items.I played D2 for 10 years and didn't get unique sacred armor. But  there was a trade for such things.

I really don't care for it....Especially after dropping $50 and the only benefit I get is my Widow to X(it was already IX). And that's seriously it. 90% of what I got is character cards and I'm not even close to maxing rares or even uncommons for that matter. Well, I do lie a bit....I did get the benefit of all supplies now sitting at 50+....But that's NOT what I dropped 50 bucks for. I dropped it for a decent chance to upgrade some weapons, but apparently all I'm allowed is no chance. I don't like to sound like a whiner, but I'm pretty sure anyone would be ticked if in my position. I think I got like 4 rare guns, none of which I use....

I'd love a trade system...I seriously would trade my Widow X for a single upgrade to my BW...Love that gun, but the system hates my love for it and won't let me upgrade it.

I have lots of (good)weapons at Lv X and don't use them(BW6,Widow X,Valiant...) either.Dead capital.

As suspected, with the growth of the sample, the margin between likes and dislikes is increasing:
26.04.2012. 18.50 CET
likes: 42-43%
dislikes: 57-58%

The standing of the moment is stabilizing at 58% for dislikes and 42% for likes. Can we get dislikes over 60%?

Even if it doesn't reach 60%, having a product that 58% of the customer base is generally negative about it not someting to be proud of.

Something that BW might take an interest in though, is that no small portion of the voters seem positive towards spending (more) real money if they knew what they were getting.

Exactly! And precisely for this information is why the poll needs to be more complicated than what the guys suggested earlier.

I am planning on a breakdown of the information, which I will do probably some time tomorrow. Hope to get to 500 votes by then, but already the result are starting to be interesting.

Stay tuned! :D

After every bump there is a noticeable increase in the sample size, so as much as it grieves me to do this without any new info, here I go:
