I'd buy DLC "modules" (or even full expansions) distinct from DA3's main plot that featured the return of the Warden and/or Hawke as the protagonist, sure. They'd actually be feasible, too. ("Hawke: Act IV" DLC for DA3? I'd lap it up)

Whether or not they'd be considered profitable enough to pursue is another question, however, and I imagine they'll want to focus on the DA3 protagonist exclusively.

No. I would not.

If bio want them in the game, craft a story around them being in it. If they don't, which is the case, leave them out.

I don't imagine we will ever play as our hawke or warden again and I am fine with that.  I would be interested in the idea of cameo appearances or fights provided it is well done.

*SPOILER*

Bioware seemed to do well enough with Revan in SWTOR.

We would never do this.

In fact, we could not-- not unless the role of the protagonist in the story was so generic that swapping in any other character would work. Otherwise you'd have to re-write the protagonist's role completely... and if someone thinks that can be done in DLC, their idea of what DLC is needs some adjustment.

This is the main reason I wouldn't like this idea either. The released game would have to be so incredibly bad for Bioware to even consider doing this. I hope that it never ever comes to pass.

The meaningful aspects of having your Warden or your Hawke carry over into another game would be for the references that gives you to the previous games, as well as an option for the continuing story of your PC, which would include whichever LI that you had in either game. All of that stuff is a tremendous amount of game content, and not merely a DLC. I think this is a silly idea, sorry OP =/.

I'd prefer to have a new character. I like the beginnings of stories (and I have say all the ones available in DAO were better than in DA2), and building up a character. Not to mention that having my godlike post-Awakenings Warden face anything lower than dragon-level challenges would be a bit silly.

I would like the actions of the previous protagonists to be reflected in DA3, though, hopefully more deeply than a couple of cameos...

I am personally fine with a new protagonist for DA3,but I feel my Warden`s / Hawke`s stories were left "hanging".

This poll is for those of you who feel the same way.

Should Bioware give you the Warden / Hawke as optional PCs for DA3 in a DLC,would you buy it?
I certainly would.
(For example,I paid for the Kain/Raziel skins for Lara Croft : GoL,and thosewere just skins with recycled dialogue. If it were more than that,I would have forked out even more :)

[b]EDIT: added my post below to make the purpose of the poll clear. It is obvious that a lot of people would be interested in playing as the Warden / Hawke, and DA3 will most likely feature a new protagonist.
Bioware should make the games they want to make and they are,of course,NOT a
non-profit organization to implement features that please everybody, but the above players represent quite a big chunk of the community.
I am fine with the new guy/girl either way,the poll is about an option.
I was merely curious as to what would happen if BW made an extra effort to release an extra protag option as DLC(outside the resource and time constraints of the main game) - would people want this feature badly
enough to reward BW for the extra commitment.
Implementation is another issue,it is merely toying with the thought.Image IPB

I would buy it, but not necessarily for the reason you may think.  NOT because I necessarily want the chance to play either Warden or Hawke again, but just to have that little bit more of DA lore.  I fully intend to buy everything Dragon Age related that comes out, whether it features the Warden and Hawke or not.

Bioware has said from the very beginning that we would have a new protagonist for each game.  I kind of wish people would stop trying to resist that.  Also, I wouldn't make the mistake of assuming that a big chunk of this community represents a big chunk of the overall fanbase.--never mind that the votes you have doesn't represent that many people at all.  You've got exactly 37 votes, at the time I write this, in favor of the DLC That s neither a huge chunk of this community, nor an overwhelming majority, given that right now a whopping 46% say they would not buy it.

Mis-representing your own statistics, and over-inflating the importance of the numbers, is not going to do much to make your case.

Why not as antagonists and pull a Diablo 2?

Seriously, you load in your save and you make Hawke or the Warden hooded with cloak. You;ll only have to animate male, female for Hawke, dwarf and elf for the Warden. If there's a good story surrounding in, it would be awesome.

I feel that would be better with the Warden, since we haven't heard him/her speak before. It would be more of a surprise. Perhaps have the Warden succombing slowly to the taint, and that's why the face is hidden?

It would actually be easier to do Hawke then it would the Wardens because of the fact that Hawke's already got a set face at least for the beginning.  Wardens would def have to have the hood on but I can see Hawke not having to.

If Hawke/Wardens would ever make an appearance as a cameo or something I almost see this as a headache for the devs, the import system would have to be perfect or they'd have more headaches from complaints cause the imports not working n that's not how their Wardens looked.  Hawke could get away with it, not the Wardens.  But this is my feelings on if they were to bring our previous protags bk just to say hello LOL.

You have a very valid point there, and as hypothetical the initial question may have been, with me specifically stating that it was bordering on the impossible,David Gaider has since confirmed that it was indeed impossible.
And I thank him for calling me out on the craziness of the idea.I have since realised I was way off-base and have not really thought this through when I brought the idea forward.

The moment I stopped laughing at myself, when warranted, would be the moment I stopped learning, and that would make me one sad camper, indeed.;)

As for over-inflating my "numbers" - with all due respect,I have not done such a thing.
I had exactly 0 votes when I started the topic.^_^My assumption, however wrong it may have been, was based on the number of threads and posts with people wanting to play as their previous PCS. On the first page of this thread I also stated that I understand Thedas was the real protagonist,if you will, and that I myself accept a new PC each game gladly .Heck,I can hardly wait what kind of person I can be in The Next Thing

I will delete the poll,nevertheless.
I have not posted in the thread for a while, hoping it will die peacefully and decently,as I would not want people to think I was still hooked on this idea,or mislead them into thinking this has any semblance of plausibility.
I have since realised and accepted that it was indeed quite ludicruous.=]

So,there. I will edit the original post with David`s input, and leave it be.:P

Of course.

Not to mention the considerable problem of PC- level. I don't think generic will work either.

I see I'm probably wrong. But I never perceived the question as being about replacing the protagonist. Rather additional content where you played the Warden/Hawke.

This is certainly not important for me though. I don't really care. My first warden is traveling in far away lands with Sten. When the time comes, Sten will end it. He may wish to say 'No', but he won't.

Would I buy a dlc or expansion for my wardens and Hawke. I absolutely would. By this point the dlc and expansion well has run dry on Dragon Age and I think I'd buy anything to play at this point.

I do want to know what happened to my wardens that lived and I don't want a new hero to deal with Morrigan. It just wouldn't be fun unless you drag the King of Ferelden along for the ride either. Oh the snark, I miss the snark.

No ... I won't import my 2 most looked after Wardens into DA2 or DA3 ... the "streamlining" took care of that. Bitter .. yep a bit. So no .. I wouldn't buy that DLC

and with DA2 I only got 1 default Hawke ... not sure I would want to buy that DLC either.

Well, the hope here is that DA3 will not be like Da2. Maybe naive but it's hope.
Importing the Warden into a game 'like Da2' is a bit moot, since I'll never buy another such game. ...And I'm not thinking about re-used environments.
