Default is 70.

30% correlates to 91 degrees.

30% of 70 is 21.

I think that's right, not brilliant with maths. :P

Cheers. I think 90 degrees is too much! Am playing with 84 degrees now (+20%).

You have to select the correct Game Version from the drop down or the game will crash.

If you find anything else that triggers it let me know.

So I gave this a try and...for me, it's still to buggy as something I'd consider using daily. The idea is nice, the implementation just needs some work.

What problems do you find with it?
Are you nvidia, AMD?
General Specs?

I just used it for a couple of hours and had nothing go wrong at all.

Would be interested to try and troubleshoot this to feedback to the dev as it is such a fine fix when it works well.

Huh, this was really informative! When I played ME2, I kept getting severe and persistent dizzy spells that would last for days on end. I wonder if that was the cause. Whatever it was, it's gone away for ME3, but I can get what they're saying. It'd be nice to get a bit larger FOV for gameplay purposes too. Would love for a dev to drop by and give us green light for doing this for MP!

FoV customization is a must in PC, some people complained against the narrow FoV when we got the demo, as always our words were ignored, it's great moders come to rescue, as always.

Are the cinematics automatically getting the original FoV or must we change it manually on the fly?

I know the original widescreen fixer lets you play SP with increased FOV while keeping cinematics as designed.

You can find that app here.

I've not tested the newer one in SP, but it works liek a charm in MP so far.

One of these will do it for you.

I installed it. Extracted it, configured it and everything. But whenever I move the slide nothing happens. Help?

Edit: Running an Nvidia GT525M. I moved the hot keys from + and - to f10 and f11 respectively.

You're in game and holding down the hotkeys and nothing's happening?

Can you take a screenshot of the configuration screen? Curious to see if I left anything out of my instructions that I'm missing now (tired...).

So, I followed the instructions exactly, but everytime start up ME3, when the game gets to the "press any key" screen, it freezes up, and shuts down. I tried uninstalling the files, but that didn't fix it. Seems this mod has corrupted my game.

Nvidia 9800 GS 512 MB

Got a fix? Or should I just restore my system and hope that'll fix the problem?

Why not just edit the coalesced and bind a key to change the FOV? It's much simpler than this.

I'd pull up the post where Chris Priestly confirmed that modifying things that affect the MP enjoyment of others/modifying things like weapon/damage/credit stats ONLY will get you potentially banned, but NOT changing the FOV or re-assigning/re-binding keys, things that don't affect anyone else or doesn't take away from BioWare's ability to make money from the Store is fine.

But honestly, it's too much work to search for it. Installing/running a little mod just for FoV is ridiculous when you can google the coaslesced FOV fix and apply it in literally 1-2 minutes by adding one line. Been running 90 FOV on my 2560x1440 resolution IPS screen since day one, not having to put up with that nauseating 70-console-FOV.

It looks set-up just fine. Try reloading the plugins?

I'll ask the dev if there's any data he could take from you guys to help producing a fix.

-

In the meantime: If you guys are having real difficulty with this version, the ealrier version works too. It uses a different process to modify the FOV, but according to the dev it's just as "safe".
Link to the older app.
Info on how to get it working

Now, it states in that thread that it's disabled in MP, but people here have told me it works now. If the fix in the OP isn't working for you you could try this.

This fix allows you to run the game wihout having to worry about manually changing the FOV when you need to switch between the different settings, it automatically does it for you. I find that much more useful. Also, some people just don't like messing with code and files manually, no matter how simple.

Feel free to link me to a quote that absolutely clarifies this is okay if you have it. would be very appreciated.

I remember this old thread about sniper rifle zoom, and the FoV on sniper rifles:

http://social.biowar.../index/10536893

I'd like to dig it up from the dead for the purpose of this thread.

Just so we don't forget about FoV of sniper rifles :P
they are so overzoomed.

Dude, we need to play together sometime : (, our play times don't seem to match-up.

Personally, I don't get that much strain from my monitor, a 24" @ 1080p. I say that bioware should make sure it's alright, seems harmless for those that do want it.

I'll try that fix you told me. Hope it works on MP!

Btw, I saw a post about remapping keys in the Coalesced that enabled you to separate the Use/Cover/Storm button.

Post here:
http://social.biowar...ndex/11603699/1

Also, on that same post a dev posted that using the Coalesced.bin to remap keys is acceptable, don't know if modifying FOV counts as remapping keys, but anyways...

Thomas Abram wrote...

As mentioned, remapping keys is fair game.

To clarify - Make sure you know what you're doing when editing these files. If you do give yourself some sort of unfair advantage (accident or not) BioWare reserves the right to ban you.

If you have any questions, concerns or comments please PM me.

I'd appreciate the ability to change the FOV too.

Either officially, or via an application such as those mentioned - so clarification on this would be good.

Yeh, that's in refrence to the same thing I posted in the OP. It doesn't clarify what we need to know, ie: whether adjusting FOV is considered the kind of "unfair advantage" they mention.

If the other ifx doesn't work, you can manually edit the files as mentioned by J717 - - - here. This way means you have to set a hotkey to switch between FOVs when cinematics play, but it'll work if the others don't.

I'm GMT, mostly on around 6-11pm. Right now I'm off work sick (till Monday) so I'm playing more than I have/will do. This game is too damn addictive. I don't know how I'm going to stop playing enough to be a real person again...

You don't need to take my word for it, but it's been stated before. You're not going to get banned for editing values that would not in any way shape or form affect other people/damage/weapon/credit stats.

Again, I've had my coalesced modded to set my FOV to 90 since release day. It is the only thing i've ever edited in the coalesced.

Also, editing the coalesced is nothing like editing "code." It's literally just one line. If you can read and write english, and you know how to copy and paste by right-clicking, you can do it. I have it so that when I right click (Mouse 2) for the first time in any match, my FOV switches to 90. It will only revert back to 70 if I press my NumPad 0 key. Pretty simple. No mods, nothing that interacts with the game externally.

I'd upload my coalesced file, as it has nothing changed but my FOV 90 fix, but it's too much responsibility to post something like that on the internet. This is a good place to start though, for anyone who wants to do the equivalent of opening up a Word document and editing one line for a permanent FOV solution:

http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=2584112

Googling around wouldn't hurt either.

I've linked to the thread discussing it.

It still requires manually switching the FOV at times, correct? Like SP cinematics? Is everything else in MP stable with it once you've switched to your desired FOV - things such as sniper zoom and general aiming?

And while I know the manual edit is simple, some people are extremely put off to the point of unwilling to even consider when it comes to these things.

Also, the app allows you to zoom between default FOV and higher percentages on the fly in game, so if you don't knowwhat FOV you want it'll save you having to edit the file and restart the game each time. Even if you eventually want to do without the app, it could help initially.
