Jennifer Hale is overrated.

To be me Jennifer Hale tried too hard with FemShep. Yes, Meer sounded rather bored and monotone in Mass Effect 1, in the sequel they matched up pretty damn well but in Mass Effect 3 he overtook Hale in my personal opinion. When I hear FemShep I hear somebody desperately trying to look tough, straining their throat as much as possible to look like they're putting emotion into the character. It just doesn't fit. Compare the Trooper in the TORtanic to her as FemShep and you can see there is a noticable difference in quality; she does great as the Trooper because she isn't trying too hard to be a generic OTT tough girl half-shouting every line.
If you read these forums you would think she had the voice of the angels themselves. I don't think Meer gets the respect he deserves frankly, especially considering how much he drastically improved between now and the original games. Maybe it's just female gamers trying to rally to "their" side I don't know.
Flame away.

Meers is a bit bland. But sometimes that's a good thing.

But I don't think this is a problem with either Meer or Hale. I mean both are really good, sometimes they sound like if they're being forced to sound dull and bored.

And yeah, sometimes Hale tries to be emotional (not saying she can't be), but fails really badly and instead of sounding happy or moved, she sounds bored. Like Garrus romance in ME2.
That happens when you are expecting a line to be delivered a certain way and then it's not. As I said Meers blandness works better in some respects for that very reason.

I agree OP not with everything you said but having played through all the games many times, Mark Meer does a better job in ME3. Hale sounds sarcastic many times in ME3 when she's trying to convey a different emotion. Yes in ME1 Hale is way better in ME2 they're much closer. In ME3 I think Meer takes the prize as Jacob would say.

She does a better job with the trooper in TOR and other games than in Mass Effect. The main reason why I could not play as femshep is because of all the over the top she do when there nothing to go all out with. Just tick me off after less than 1 minute.

Pretty much this. She was great as Niaomi in Metal Gear Solid and brilliant as Bastila. I think she is a great voice actor in most of her other wrk but in Mass Effect she just sounds like she's trying far too hard.
