While Jennifer Hale is probably my favorite voice actress - I think her overall performance was inferior in ME3 than it was in ME1 and ME2.

It's hard to give examples without spoilage, but I found it grating when FemShep was being sarcastic.

There was one instance when FemShep was talking with a crew member and almost immediately muttered lines 'of disinterest' to herself -- or out loud (the person continued talking regardless). FemShep's voice portrayed a certain arrogance doing this.
I'm not sure if that was Hale's doing or the directors choice, but for me it was not amusing or clever, and I don't understand what the point of it was (it could be bad writing).

I also found that some of the one liners that FemShep blurted out were unnecessary, and it gave me the impression that Shepard was too overconfident and superior (but that might be a script issue).

I usually like Jennifer Hale but ME3's delivery was poor during intense moments, but outstanding during the casual and more serious moments.

I never liked her that much...but her voice acting was good... Mark wasn't that great in ME1,he improved a lot in ME2 and he did a great job in ME3, haven't played with female in ME3 yet but I'm in my third playthrough so I guess she's next or after one more playthorugh at least.

Now don't get me wrong here, I like Jennifer Hale as a voice actor. I loved her in KOTOR and other stuff, but to me I have to raise an eyebrow every time that I see a thread turn into nothing but six pages of people quoting each other going "oh my gawd jenifer hale is sooooooo amazin111!" usually people with FemShep avatars and followed by a slurry of hate towards "the lesser" Mark Meer.

To be me Jennifer Hale tried too hard with FemShep. Yes, Meer sounded rather bored and monotone in Mass Effect 1, in the sequel they matched up pretty damn well but in Mass Effect 3 he overtook Hale in my personal opinion. When I hear FemShep I hear somebody desperately trying to look tough, straining their throat as much as possible to look like they're putting emotion into the character. It just doesn't fit. Compare the Trooper in the TORtanic to her as FemShep and you can see there is a noticable difference in quality; she does great as the Trooper because she isn't trying too hard to be a generic OTT tough girl half-shouting every line.

If you read these forums you would think she had the voice of the angels themselves. I don't think Meer gets the respect he deserves frankly, especially considering how much he drastically improved between now and the original games. Maybe it's just female gamers trying to rally to "their" side I don't know.

Flame away.

I'm getting tired of your disingenuous assertions *SLAP*

I like Meer more than Hale. I think she's a great VA, but all the times I've played through I've played maleshep, and because Mass Effect is the epic story that it is, it'd be making palpatine a chick in Star Wars or Odysseus a chick in the odyssey. It wouldn't have that "epic" feeling if I played femshep.
