Do people really think the purpose of a Kroguard is to charge and just melee until they die?

Based on public game observations, this is the trend. Is it instinct? or something else?

Every public match I have played with them results in this. Every one.

It's a krogan thing.

Melee is fine, but a good kroguard should remember, as Grunt said, "I need no luck. I have ammo".

Nuff said.

It's a krogan's purpose. If you want to play slowly and safely, why take krogan ? He is good even for slow and careful approach, but meleeing everything is just fun. True, it's not easy to master .. it's high risk .. but also high reward. Same as vanguarding ..

I love leaving them to at least two Primes when they do not pay enough attention.

Worked out well the other day against cerberus. Had a couple kroguards just melee everything and I was behind them as geth infiltrator using claymore. Everything was mowed down.

I must be having better luck; I've found a lot of excellent Kroguards. More and more people seem to be picking up on the fact that they can just shred certain heavy hitters--ravagers and geth primes especially--with ease. I love the class. Had a fantastic 3-kroguard/1 justicar game yesterday that was disgusting with fast-spilled reaper guts.

I've actually seen a Krogan player go 5 vs 1 and win only to go to the next cluster of enemies and repeat... did he die? Nope... Does it work? Yes Do I like it? No.

Kroguard is a tank. While my Heavy Melee isn't my weapon of choice for dealing damage- that's my Eviscerator VIII- it DOES allow me a second of additional defense, just like any other class's heavy melee animation. So if I'm waiting for my Biotic Charge to cooldown and I need a little extra defense to get me through it, the Heavy Melee is my 2nd best set of armor.

Again, NOT what you should be using to attack all the enemies.. But it's worth using in a pinch.

No, the purpose of a krogaurd is to charge in and melee until everything else dies.

The stagger provided by an area charge is enough to let you follow-up with a backhand to finish any non boss enemy, even on gold. Turn back and shoot, repeat charge.

And I'll sit there and melee the both of them. Just don't ask me to come get you if you die at this point, because retreating as a Krogan Vanguard usually ends in my death. I'm not sure why. It's probably because the constant charging as soon as my recharge timer is up to refill my shields is what keeps me alive. It seems in the spirit of krogan, though, so I'll accept that.

Bear in mind I never do this kind of crap in Gold matches or with PUGs. I'll only do this with people I know. The above still stands, though.

I am guessing Blood Rage is still bugged on Kroguards? Which kinda makes a complete melee build pointless.

My staple so far though is Charge+Heavy Melee+Shotgun to the head. Kills just about everything (Gold) apart from Brutes etc. and with those I'll sit back (infront of my teammates) and shotgun it.

People just need to avoid meleeing in smoke or against something cloaked. =P

The Kroguard cannot one-shot-melee anything with a shield - which is like 80-90% of the dudes you face on Gold.

You know - Primes are the one boss unit that Krogan Vanguards love, so you're doing them a favour there.

Do people really think the purpose of a Kroguard is to charge and just melee until they die?

that's like asking:

Do people really think the purpose of a SI is to cloak and just shoot until they die?

seriously u mean they don't use weapons much ?

On Silver yes, I fly around the map on wings of blue, or trudge along manually with plates of orange, and listen for large mobs, or someone that needs help. For me, Krogan are a casual, relatively stress-free class that make things go boom when I hold down the right buttons. I've NEVER taken a Krogan into Gold, based solely on the fact that they don't play well with others (Asari with area Reave notwithstanding), and are really good at dying from stunlocks. Also, Kroguard have broken Rage, so viability does take a rather large hit for Gold.

if they are charging, melee'ing, and dying, they're doing something horribly wrong

Stunlocks? When I played the Krogaurd (It's been awhile) they didn't get stunned by anything. You can play em on Gold, but they have to almost always stick with their teammates. They can occasionaly go out and smack 1 or 2 enemies, but If they stick with their team, they're monsters.

Well you can build the Krogaurd to be a heavy gunner and that works great too, but most choose the charge smash route. Idk either one i normally follow and melee with them with my Krogan soldier. What i don't like is Krogaurds with just a pistol or smg.......i mean your a krogan.....grow a pair.
