Yeah. That wouldn't make the game even easier.
Just stay out of arms reach.

Instakill makes you think. It makes you stay aware. It makes you SMASH YOUR KEYBOARD!

think for a minute what a krogan vanguard would be like immune to instakill. Everyone would play one.

Or just steer clear of those types of enemies.
Admittedly, they do close the gap fairly quick, (the phantom and her magical mind bullets of death) but those characters that cant dodge usually have a dependable melee to at least stall the enemy in cqc.
If its a banshee, then turn tail and run. Then turn around and shoot. Its not like a phantom where its incredibly lethal at ALL ranges.
All characters can keep away easily. Just because you have to turn around and run instead of backrolling doesnt mean you cant escape.

If you don't have dodge, you need to start backing off earlier than classes with dodge.
Even on harder difficulties when they travel much faster, you can just run and let your allies wear down the barrier a bit.

try not getting really close to units that instakill. range is your friend!

I've had the banshee teleport from in front of me to behind me, as a krogan (despite me walking backwards constantly at the time). That is pretty harsh since she will instantly pick you up when that happens.
Other than that, the instagibs are easy enough to avoid or are rare enough to not really matter that much.

Here's an alternative op.
Consider the krogan, they have the dodging capabilities of an enebriated walrus, but they do have their heavy mele ability. One tactic I have developed in light of this is instead of attempting to sidestep a mele or other slow attack, I simply trigger the heavy mele, since I won't be aiming at an enemy I can just charge right past them to avoid the attack. The only trade off is that to face the attacking enemy you need to do a 180 before gettin them in range again, but that's what the krogan shields are for. ( ps: you could also break into a sprint to gain even more distance after the heavy mele is over)

Krogans and batarians would be able to melee combo dem phantoms like they're sum scrub mob

I'm much more annoyed by Geth Primes locking me in place when I am krogan or batarian. Nothing I can do unless I'm in cover or he moves out of firing arc.

Sorry for stating the obvious. The extra range on the banshee jumps on harder difficulties is annoying too, and seriously dents your effectiveness against them. But (as I'm sure you've noticed) they lose that ability after you take their barriers down and do enough damage, at which point you can move in for the kill. In the meantime you can just draw aggro and kill lesser enemies to free your longer range allies to stop that insane Banshee jump spam.

It's maddening, but without those insta-kill phantoms, Cerberus would be a joke and the Banshees wouldn't be as terrifying. If you're not a character that can dodge... then RUN! I play Turians and Krogans all the time and just have to live with it.
One reason why the Geth are a cake-walk and the devs had to buff them up.

Take out the thing that makes the game challenging?
That sounds like a great idea!

Phantom melee? Bah, fear the Phantom ranged attack! It's far more devastating.
Don't shoot their sword, whatever you do. I'm not joking.

Instant kills are not retarded. People who let enemies they know can instant kill into melee range have extremely poor judgment though... especially if they know they can't dodge.

Instakills are fine. However, the fact that you also get stunlocked and staggered ridiculously easily, as well as being unable to dodge those attacks is fairly bs. Hunters are especially fun, because thay can still shoot and stun you while they are staggered and their gun points to the sky.

It hasn't been a problem for me, I only got executed by a phantom twice when I was playing as a turian and couldn't dodge, somehow sprinting away didn't work and I got commando lunged by the phantom. Not in favor of immunity to executions, maybe a dodge ability for the characters that don't have one, but instakills shouldn't be that much of a problem as long as you keep you're distance

I don't know about everyone else, but the least they could do is fix the AI so it can't cheat and drag you into an instakill from 20 feet away even when you're the host.Barneyk wrote...
