I think they are starting to come out of "siege mode" as you put it.

There have been numerous threads about the EMS issue in SP and initially BW would be quite brutal in my opinion and lock these threads with statements like "no there isn't" & "your wrong!"

They are still locking threads but are now saying "we're investigating the issue"

So there's hope.

They don't seem to mind what I'm doing. I'm speculating of course but it must not bother them. I actually got Mr. Gamble to post in one. I wish he would do that more often here because he's been a real sport in this mess.

Siege mode will be deactivated once the most ridiculous of the members finally go away. They're in their last stages though and are holding on. All I can do is tell them to wait.

A very reasonable post and I agree with your sentiments. Especially those regarding the treatment of the staff and Hudson.

I'm not that happy with the EC, mostly because they aren't changing the already defunct endings just adding to them, but I'm willing to see what happens and whether they change them enough for me to be... satisfied.

In the end though all my problems would be solved with something as shallow as this(!):

A more palatable ending for Shepard.

A viable safety net for Bioware is what I would call a "moment" of hapiness for Shepard (mind you you're picking the destory ending here) where Shepard reunites with the crew and his LI in some capacity. This is a safe economic choice simply because it would relieve quite a bit of the fanbase and it's marketable.

I'm a complete sap for happy endings and you have unfortunately added to my false hope for one.

I can't imagine they wouldn't do it in some capacity as the lack of happiness has been a chief complaint.

Anyway I've been working on some audio, something that will give a more personal cohesion to my thoughts. Would people like to see that?

An example of studio BS came up the other day. In the UK there just about to show season 2 of the US version of "the Killing". Now just befor ethe season 1 finally the tv studio in the US put out the following statement. "see the killer revealed in last episode" this was a total lie as the killer was not revealed at all because thats was season 2 is about!!!! The lead actress of the show said she was so mad when this happened but could say anything about it.

I just wounder how many BW employees feel a similar rage, assume as you say that a lot of the PR comes from EA.

I was thinking about doing something that could express emotion....as I can't do that with text. I would film myself and trip the video out making it represent the void between us and Bioware leaving only my voice.

My artistic intergrity allows me to do this.

Oh and what would people want it to be about? I can't talk about what I want all the time. Submit questions maybe?

In response to Company control Spartan.

You are correct in some capacity. I cannot offer an opinion directly on game development interference because I am not as familiar with it. I AM familiar with stuido interference on a film level and I can certainly make allusions.

In the sixties and seventies a great amount of control was given to film directors. This "Golden Age of Directors" gave us such illuminaries as Brian De Palma, Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott and Francis Ford Coppola. At this time free reign was allowed in most situations allowed for what I consider to be the greatest decade of American film. We were given such masterpieces as The Godfather, Taxi Driver and Alien. This were allowed to be created because studio allowed directors free reign over what they did (Can you believe that Al Pacino made the Paramount Executives nervous?) and risks were made. Whole new areas of cinema opened up here and some of the most mature, thought provoking films came from these directors. Unfortunatley the era of the director would come to an end with one of the notorious events in film history. Michael Cimino's Heaven's Gate.

Michael Cimino was a director with two films under his belt by the time he was given free reign over his project, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot and The Deer Hunter. The Deer Hunter was a smashing success winning the Best Picture Oscar in in 1979 (and presented by a very perturbed John Wayne). This success gave Cimino access to all the funding that he needed to make his dream project, Heaven's Gate. It quite literally blew up and destroyed an entire movement in cinema and forever ruined Cimino's professional career. Cimino you see had a bit of an ego problem at the time and was notorious on set for his perfectionism. At one point he literally took an entire shooting day to film a one second reaction shot of Kris Kristofferson. ONE second. He demanded that entire sets be torn down and replaced and zealously shot footage that was not nescessary. According to information available enough footage was shot for the final battle in film that it alone could have made a movie. This overblown mess was delivered to the Studio who were of course shocked. They decided to release it anyway and the film was a failure, critically and commercially. This failure brought the end to the directors era and forever ruined a great chance for anyone but the studio to have control.

The reason control was taken away from individuals and handed to big companies after Heaven's Gate was released because investors were scared they would have another screw up like Michael Cimino. Unfortunatly this control seems to have gone to their heads and a vast majority of films today are controlled by studios. Ridley Scott is a great example of a victim of studio control. One of his best films, Blade Runner was marred by the studio and was significantly tarnished on release (he has since rectified that). A more recent example of one of his films that was tarnished was Kingdom of Heaven, where an entire hour was cut out because the studio wanted something more action oriented. That film was also tarnished upon release (and has also been fixed). What you see now in the gaming community is somewhat similar. Large companies are in charge of production and mandate what they want to see (Film studios do this). Companies are denied the resources they need to create a proper product and even have to release content later (DLC in our case, Extended Unrated version in the films world). I cannot make claims to know exactly what happened in our case but it reeks of studio influence on some level.

This is the reason I choose to work independently of studio's and finance things myself. I simply refuse to allow something I create to be manipulated by someone else. This is my artistic intergrity.

Sorry about the rant. I'll make an update in a moment..........

No doubt. I can think of only one comment at this point:  “Vanity is my favorite sin.” – John Milton (Al Pacino)

Talk about some ideas people have?   For example this is my hope for the EC, I posted in another thread, it works within the parameters we know or can safely assume will be in the EC:

Will the EC "Fix" the ending?   No, not really, that can't be done without a complete rewrite of everything post Anderson's death.   But working within the confines of what we know, what could make the ending palatable for me are:

1- Make star-brats arguments logical at least (I'd rather him removed totally)
2- Expand and differentiate the endings, what happens in the aftermath, how does the galaxy rebuild.
2a- If Shep can survive Destroy, can the Geth?  Can EDI?    What does Synthesis really imply?   How much control would "Control" really give us?  Is is permanent or temporary "control"?
3- Delete the crash scene and give real closure with those we care about, LI, Crew, and Friends.  What becomes of them?  If the crash can't be removed, are they rescued off that plant before they starve?   (See the Epilogue thread in the my sig for an idea of what I want here.)

I'd like to see "Control" split into two:   First:  A way to just kick the Reapers out (even if it just resets the cycle) but have Shepard lives.  Second: Shepard joins the Reapers for permanent control.

I'd like to see "Destroy" split up too, with high enough EMS you can choose to kill the Reapers and yourself (Thus saving the Geth & EDI) or sacrifice the Geth & EDI to save yourself.

This would give two paths for Shepard to survive and give those who desire it options while not removing the current Destroy or Control endings.

I'd love to do this for you. I can have it up and ready by tomorrow. Remember though, it will only be audio.

Agree with OP in terms of the treating BioWare devs like human beings, it's pretty rude some of the stuff people are probably saying, but if they are, they should stop.

Great post OP. Very reasonable.

Hard to find that kind of stuff here on the boards, where every little thing is torn to pieces SOMETIMES IN ALL CAPS

Simple fix for destruction choice

If you have a high enough Renegade score an option flashes right as the star kid starts talking and you can punch him in the face. If Bioware truly loved us then you could unload a clip while having that hilarious Shepard smile be animated. Then all options except Destroy disappear and a Cain heavy weapon appears in Shepard's hands. Lock-in to destroy panel. Boom. Shepard tuns towards beam, sentimental flashback, and closes with Anderson repeating "I'm proud of you son" High enough score gets you the epilogue.

If high enough paragon, a paragon option flashes up and Shepard waves his hand at the starchild and says "There are no choices here"  One Paragon choice pops up.  Then flashback.  High enough score gets you the epilogue.

Easy.

Of course, simply ignore the fact that they have been lying, ignoring, dismissing, and ABSOLUTELY WORST OF ALL, TROLLING us.

They even started way before the problem with Chris Priestly calling himself "EVIL" in the CREDITS of the game. In anticipation of things like the ridiculous photo in a shark hat, while twitting another mock on customers.

And now they announce their first ever paid DLC is a Multiplayer pack, cementing the idea that they are shifting into XBL-FPS-MP. Bioware is dumbed down and is nowhere the studio it used to be. Their interest in people that pay anything to shoot another's people character without thinking.Just like the EA credo demands.

It's just not fair that they introduced themselves in such practices, scaring away old customers they don't want anymore, in the end of such trilogy. They could have found a better place to do so.

But OK Bioware, we are finally accepting, We aren't the kind of customers you want anymore. I'm leaving as soon as you fix that crap, so you can spend time with your new kind of players.

If you don't respect BioWare anymore, if you won't continue to support them, then why the hell would they listen to you?

Lose the persecution complex, it's unbecoming.

What the hell? I doing here? COLLECTING A DEBT THEY HAVE WITH ME AS PAYING CUSTOMER. Then I leave them alone. Respect... Don't make me laugh. You use that BS when someone go collect a debt you made? "You don't respect me, so I don't have to pay what I own you".

You are not owed a debt, you bought an entertainment product. Entertainment is subjective, you can be displeased with you emotional experience (as I was) but don't go demanding anything.

I didn't like the endings, I asked BioWare to do something about it, I presented my grievances in a civil manner and continue to respect them as human beings. They have responded with a compromise (the extended cut).

Am I completely satisfied? No, but neither are they. They are making the most of a crappy situation. I, for one am looking forward to what they have in store for us.
