@Begemotka like the idea of seeing architecture like the russian buildings you posted in Tevinter.

And I completely agree with sjpelkessjpeler -- I really think that Fereldan is probably miles behind the rest of Thedas in art and architecture, which is part of why they're looked down upon. I wouldn't be surprised to see more Renaissance/Baroque designs in Orlais at all. And I love some of the Russian buildings for Tevinter - especially if they could find a way to "creepy" them up a little.

I do think if Dragon Age 3 is set mostly in Orlais then the Grand Catherdral and the Royal Palace need to be up and over the top in design. I want to see rich vibrant colors. I'd like to see Amaranthine again and also Highever and how it is doing and even the Vigil. The same if your warden was from the Dalish or City Elf, and also of course Orzammar. We have to have a look at the Warden HQ in Orlais and hopefully quest included with the wardens. Small cinematic glimpses will do well for me with a narrative and codex to read.
If the new game is this large in scope I'd like to have access to every storage chest I've paid for. Let's face it, gold was hard to come by in DA2, I want stealing to return as a skill please. Maybe a quest to break into Hawke's home to steal equipment or having permission from the wardens for the new hero to visit Levi at Warden's keep. If we have to take a hop, skip, or jump into Kirkwall (I know I said a dirty word here!). Of course a new storage chest when in Orlais. Please allow me to equip my party members standing next to it. Hopefully inside my humble home.
If we travel by sea then we are actually on the ship. One of my favorite scenes from DA2 was the boatride. I thought that was very well done.
I also think it would be a good idea if Bioware is hiring new people for this project that their homework must include them playing at least one origin story and and one playthrough of DA2 to help them understand the game.
I also want more codex entries on the various counties and more lore to gain more information on them. Rivain and Nevarra, Par Vollen, and Sheron especially. I'd love to see any of my former party members just walking through the new cities or sitting in a bar drinking, this can also include my warden since this is being hinted they might make an appearance. I'd think it'd be great to see Hawke and the Warden both sitting at a table drinking. A fight breaks out and we see both of them pull hoods over their faces and get up and leave.
Just throwing some ideas your way.

A modest example from near where I was born: the decaying donjon of Nijenbeek Castle.
It's all that is left of a medium-sized castle hat was used to exact tolls on the IJssel River.

I've visited it a couple of times. It is a very melancholy place, especially when the winter snows melt and the low hill on which it lies becomes a tiny island.
There's a hilarious little story involved with this castle. In the 14th century Duke Reinoud III of Gelre was imprisoned here by his brother Duke Eduard. After his brother was killed in battle, Duke Reinoud was freed.
However, he had gotten so fat they had to break out the walls of his cell:).
Colourful family by the way
Duke Reinoud and Duke Eduard's grandfather was King Edward II of England, who, it is said, died because his wife and her lover had a red-hot metal poker inserted where the Sun doesn't shine (so there were no outward wounds).
Duke Eduard was supposedly killed during the Battle of Baesweiler by one of his own vassals, who shot him in the back with a crossbow. Duke Eduard had been fooling around with the vassal lord's wife, it is said.
The nobles of Gelre are said to have been a touchy lot

Glad you guys liked St.Petersburg,too.
I agree with ElvaliaRavenHeart,in wanting to see how they rebuilt Denerim after the siege.I have never seen such a disgrace of a capital before (sorry BW,but it was...shabby),so I hope it gets a beautification (well, depends on how much was left in the royal coffers for such purposes).
Brushyourteeth, your thread looks really stunning,I might just print it

Love the first photo, with winter in full swing.Without the snow cover it is indeed quite a melancholy place - but melancholy places are beautiful.
As for the Duke`s family : Reading the news makes me think our forebears were not much touchier than we are now...

So many beautifull pictures and ideas that posters have shared here allready.
Orlais needs fountains I think. This one is in Italy, Rome:

People throw coins in there for good luck. Where did we see that again in DA?
This one is the Pantheon fountain in Rome:

One of the 'secrets' of the Netherlands is De Haar Castle. It is not entirely original; the castle fell into ruin in the 17th century, and it was only at the end of the 19th century that the lord of the castle caught himself a Rothschild bride and, with money to burn, hired the Netherlands' most famous architect of the day to restore the ancient ancestral castle to full glory - and then some. Modern amenities like electricity and running water were, of course, included.
Oh, and he had the neighbouring village of Haarzuilens completely rebuilt.
Must take care of one's tenants

People seem to like winter photos
Some pictures of the interior. If you have money to burn, you have money to burn. Especially if it's your wife's money:innocent:.

\\And yup, griffins:).

Well, the Baron's wife was of the French branch of the Rothschilds...
@Avejaved: Cool, you've found Burg Hohenzollern I see
What I love about is, is how it dominates the surrounding area...

I think the Grafensaal looks very beautiful, with a certain understated elegance. Looks doable for a videogame too, but what do I know?

My current favourite as possible inspiration for a true Orlesian castle would be Chateau Pierrefonds. De Haar looks a bit too 'German', but Pierrefonds looks quintessentially 'French Gothic', like the castles you see in the 'Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry'.
.jpg)
(Painted by...the Van Limburg brothers. Although they were from Nijmegen;))
It has been used for various movies and tv series, including the remake of 'Les Rois Maudits' (The Accursed Kings) and BBC's 'Merlin'.

I always felt blue+gold was royal,without being "kitschig".Or blue+silver instead of purple+gold,for example.
I have to second sjpelkessjpeler : Pierrefonds in DA3,please:) And you are suspiciously good at sneaking griffons in here and there - subtle hint?

Funny how people come down to burning wigs, masked balls etc.
In 1393, they had the so-called 'Bal des Ardents'. The young French king Charles VI and five of his nobles, dressed up as 'wild men of the woods' were dancing at a masqueraded ball. The dance seems to have been a pretty wild affair, but at some point the - highly flammable - costume of one of the dancers caught fire. The fire spread; a young Duchess saved the King by covering his costume with her voluminous robes, but the other dancers were not so lucky; one jumped in an open vat of wine, but the other four died, three after lingering for several days.

So, if you want a masqueraded ball in Orlais, be careful what you wish for. Assuming Bioware's devs read history books, or even this thread.
Mwuhahahahahahahahahahahaha:lol:

Poor dancers,though:(
BTW,mentioning "masquerade ball" will summon LolaLei.
Actually,I think there is a thread wishing there was such an event in DA3 - a perfect opportunity for an undercover mission hehe.

Regarding the Van Limburg brothers, who painted the illustrations of the ' Tres Riches Heures' of the Duke of Berry, every two years they have a medieval festival in their honour in their old home city, Nijmegen.
Now, on the grounds of the old Imperial fortress-palace (palts, pfalz), they constructed something monstrous...
and here you see a knight charging the monstrosity.

So if you see Chevaliers charging a giant bunny in DA3, this is where the devs got their idea from :innocent:

You are one nefarious person,Ser:devil: .Some things cannot be unseen lol. Just LOOOOOL.
Seriously though : thanks, that is just hilarious. It is not really off-topic either : yes,we want knights in shining armour charging massively overpowered giant wooden bunnies in DA3.
I was thinking : have Monty Python been to Nijmegen b4 the Holy Grail was made?
Launcelot,Galahad and I.....Oh Maker.
Edit : why would they build a Bunny of Doom in remembrance of the Van Limburg brothers? There must be a reason, but I am not that familiar with their history, sadly.
