You know what we haven't covered in this thread?

Orlesian brothels!

I hope Serendipity turns up in DA3 working in one of the brothels, or at some swanky party after being hired by some debauched noble!

I'm wondering if they're gonna throw in the Lay Warden as an easter egg just for LOLs.  And if they're gonna go the DAO route for the brothels.  LOL

@ LolaLei:

There's a difference between brothels and upper-class bordellos;).

You might reconsider the nude picture, not sure the Mods will tolerate it, this is not a European forum....

I'll remove it.

But anyway, brothels/bordello's I'm good with either. Although having a really run down brothel for the poorer folk and a bordello for the nobles would be cool and would show the big difference in class.

Being able to get above the action gives you a sense of scale which Kirkwall was lacking.

http://t1.gstatic.co...uYZq2xVxq1EKrTV

A sense of scale is important to a large space even if it's not actually something you access.

A "living" city

And this ?

@BobSmith

The last two pictures are great to compare the different scenery between the games
regarding 'being alive'.
I for one would be very happy if something like your third picture could be possible
for a future DA installment Posted Image.

And looking down from a high point of view deffinitily gives a great sense of scale
especially in a town like in your post. DA2 did something like it on a path on Sundermount
f.e. but guess due to limitations of the engine this was not very detailed..

I'd love to be able to have some decent view points looking out over the cities/forests/coast lines/etc, it seems a shame to have a fantasy setting without being able to really appreciate the environments.

Well in terms of having 'a detailed point of view to object from above or afare'
I would not say no to get to see something in the order of this:

Posted Image Or this:

Or a city by night looking down from a mountain:

This thread is awesome.  I’m loving all the pictures so much.

For me, Tevinter and Orleasian architecture are actually just different variations of the same thing.  The difference is in the color mostly.  Both are completely overthetop and intricate, but whereas Orlais is very ornate and bright (with gold, marble, and glass everywhere) … Tevinter is of a more gothic style.  It’s not necessarily grotesque and disturbing, it’s just … dark and … pointy?  Haha.

Tevinter:

And of course in my head Tevinter is always dark and gloomy and overcast with thunder and lightening always booming off in the background.

Orlais: Orlais is the Palace of Versailles for me.  It’s made of all ornate materials … glass, marble, gold … all things that glitter and are completely gaudy.

And let us not forget the gardens:

I also absolutely love the idea of Petra being an inspiration for Kal Sharok.  I really do hope we return to some sort of massive, underground Dwarven city.  One little Thaig we can only visit once is simply unacceptable.
Posted Image

Posted Image
And of course the journey to get there gives you an awesome cutscene through here …
Posted Image

As for the interior of the city, I picture something similar to Skyrim's Markarth:

But instead of water, it's lava ;)

Here is another addition for the Fade:

This last picture looks a lot like the one I posted for the sunken elven city. Maybe the elves of the sunken elven
city really live in such a twisted place and the creatures/spirits/entities that are in the fade shape their environment like that Posted Image.

Reposting because this was my absolute favorite pictures of the fade.  They are absolutely stunning.

And dare I say ...

They could all be different variations of the black city?

I haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know what's been covered. But I've been on a kossith (mostly Arishok) binge lately and have to say.. Par Vollen and whichever island the kossith came from. And the Tevinter Imperium.

Absolutely amazing...graceful and majestic with an air of mystery and perhaps even danger.  The Sagrada Familia would make a great Circle Tower.  It looks like a place that was built by magic

This is grotesque architecture I'm okay with in association with Tevinter.  I can see this actually being the mage tower in Minrathous, as it's supposed to be the oldest tower in Thedas.  I picture the interior consisting of lots of gothic spires and gargoyles.  And blood magic.  Lots of blood magic here. @BobSmith : Aye,sweeping visuals viewed from above- it could add to a map of any size a feeling of vastness.
And yes,as for vibrant cities  - AC is very nearly unbeatable.IMHO anyway.

@iheartbob : wonderful additions, thanks for sharing! Petra makes for an awesome Kal-Sharok,and I loved the Tevinter ideas, especially the first image.

Still, for Tevinter,I will have to go for La Sagrada Familia - sjpelkessjpeler, thanks for re-posting pics of that  outstanding human achievement - as you guys said,it is as if it was built with the aid of magic.    <3

Here is someones Georama from WKC (player created town).

It's built for functionality but looks pretty good too. Buildings change depending on where you build. That one is built in the desert.
