Which DAIII Environments Are You Most Hoping For?

2. Galway and its approachable people are amazing.
3. I'd like to see a Qunari city. I always picture it with South Asian architecture. And I want to get lost in a jungle.
4. And maybe a trip to Rivain. It should be like the Caribbean.

This one is a picture from the castle ruin in Valkenburg (in the little tail of the Netherlands; the province called Limburg)

Maybe situated in DA3 as a battleground in a (side) quest?

I'd really like to see them do something special with the fade, potentially anything goes in there so they could go absolutely wild with it's environment. I'd also like to see drastic area changes depending on the time of day... Perhaps if they can't/won't add dynamic weather/real time then they could have quests that are set during different times of the day like at sunset during which the area it's set in has a completely different appearance/ambience, or a quest set at night during a storm where thunder and lightening cracks through the sky, lighting up the area and casting eerie shadows across large forbidding buildings. I'd also love to see indoor environments that look and feel large and impressive, with high ceilings and camera angles that put into perspective how small your character and his/her companions are in comparison, even if it's just done as a quick cinematic showing us a sweeping view of the area.
I do wonder how they'll make these environments and areas look impressive if they keep the same sort of art style that they used in DA2 though.

The Netherlands have some really nice ruins that could be a point of interest.

Ooooh,it would be nice to come upon such ruins, while out hiking in the wilds:)
Would be nice to have varied environments in DA3,but as you and LolaLei mentioned,day/night cycles and ambience could add so much more atmosphere.Thief Deadly Shadows did a great job with the night sounds / lighting - I know many ppl found that game to be inferior to its predecessors in many aspects, but I,for one,did not think the small map was "claustrophobic". What they did not do graphics-wise,they made up for with ambient sounds, lighting, music, conversing denizens, what have you. I guess what I am hoping for is a more immersive atmosphere, and whatever way they achieve that...And DA3,as far as we can tell, won`t be confined to one city...uhmm...
And as you guys said, the Fade is really a place where they could do just about anything.
I hope no poor kittens are being smashed into glass plate windows,to quote David Gaider:lol:I adore kittens.I think of the kittens all the time.

On the subject of weather conditions improving the ambience/attractiveness of the game etc, I would love DA3 to have a prologue in which the new protagonist has to escape his/her home town/village one dark and stormy night for whatever reason, maybe a Mage rebellion attacks his/her home town unleashing monsters or a corrupt Templar rebel group surprise attack a small apostate Mage colony going on a raping 'n' pillaging spree or whatever. You then take control of your character and his/her friend as you escape the town and run off into the nearby woods, during which a mighty storm bares down, wind raging violently through the trees, hammering against the houses/tents, rain whipping your face as you blindly navigate the streets and back alleys trying to avoid the enemy, occasionally having to fight your way through one or two enemies when it can't be avoided, along the way your friend dies in battle or sacrifices themself to save you etc. Finally free, your character looks back at his/her former home one last time as the storm begins to ease and the first signs of morning appear in the sky as the realisation sinks in that you've just lost everything you held dear and are the only survivor of the attack.*Fade to black*
Something like that would make for a really memorable introduction to the game, which would be made more poignant against the backdrop of a stormy nights sky, thunder and lightening crashing down illuminating the surroundings as heavy rain falls, soaking your character and everything in its path. It's the perfect excuse to make use of light 'n' shadow and background ambience too. Perhaps if we are also given the opportunity to explore the town briefly during the day prior to the attack then it would amplify it's effectiveness by giving us a stark contrast of the same area whilst adopting different art styles.
After the DA:O race origins David Gaider and his team need an equally impressive prologue to blow our minds with (something DA2's lacked), but since we probably won't be given anymore race origins in DA3 maybe one really impressive prologue would redeem the shortcomings of DA2... Though ideally I'd like to see 3 different, equally as impressive origin prologues based on class since they've already done the whole race origin thing.

LOL! When did David Gaider mention about smashing kittens? Even Fade demons love kittens, it's a universal law!

Lol,yeah, kittens are sacrosanct! Even my forum name is borrowed from a book featuring a snarky sidekick wearing the shape of a huge black cat.
The exact quote from David is on the forums somewhere, but an article elsewhere has it,more or less :
"The game development process is long and difficult one. Most features implemented take time, time that must be taken away from other potential features. But often times fans on the official forum don't appreciate this. They'll casually claim that their idea would be easy to implement. "Every time a forum member says this (a feature is easy to implement), somewhere a small kitten gets punted through a plate glass window. Please think of the kittens".
I love your "escape in the dark of night" prologue idea...what is it about dark and stormy nights that makes them so memorable,I cannot say,but love it.

... Well, that and I like massive thunder storms lol. The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past is one game that has always stood out from childhood due to it's opening sequence where you have to make your way to the Hyrule castle during a dark and stormy night, it was atmospheric even then!

Apparently, English thought the French masters - and mistresses - of the 'über-wig'.
