Managed to get full extraction by spamming falcon and concussion shots at long range in Firebase White, down the sniper alley away from the fighter bay.

Lucked out by not having to hack on wave 10, just head hunting.

Can someone clear this up? The way I interpret this is, since it is a squad goal and it says survive until extraction, it sounds like they are saying nobody can die ever during the match. You know how if your whole squad makes it through 3 waves you get a medal that says "3 waves survived" etc but it stops progressing when someone dies? I'm betting they aren't handing these out just for completing gold. Sounds like we have to complete gold with no deaths.

The way I see it:

You need to be alive when extracted to get it.

O, and wasn't promoting two characters in the last event such a simple task? Reaper Silver for the first one was a pretty good challenge at the time (well, it was for me), and this one is about the same as Reaper Silver in regards to player experience.

Well yesterday I have done this on Geth Firebase White in case your scenario is true (which it isn't and you're just over-interpreting that sentence).

Prepare for the swarm of bad players attempting gold so they can get a commendation pack.

My votekick is ready.

this is unsporting...we should help those who are not gold standard to get their pack too...:police:

I'm with Lambent  Gear79 on this. Pleased to help lower N7's 'IF' they will participate in some sensible team strategy that the more experienced  players can share on microphone.

We were all N71/Level 1 - once...

Yep. Cerberus Gold is utterly filled with Phantoms. Wave 11 is quite hilarious when they come in waves of three from various approaches; missile bait if there ever was such.

I walked through gold on the 1st try with a bunch of randoms. Then did it 2 more times. Then I switched to silver & struggled. WTF? I swear gold has been a lot easier than silver lately.

Team ability and composition means everything.
I'm getting tons of noobs on gold lately. :sigh:

I feel your pain. My regular team-mates couldn't play much today and although I did find some good random players, a large majority just kept running off on their own opposed to sticking to team and strategy... I hate myself for it, but I gave up on reviving them.

You have to use mics, stay togather & call out the Phantoms as soon as you see them.  When you have 3 or 4 teammates concentrating on the Phantoms it's much easier.

Start a new lobby & ask players if they have a mic. If they start talking you're good.  Kick players that don't have mics. Don't even waste your time starting the match until you have at least 3 players communicating.  Gold is so easy when you have players that know what they're doing that can actually communicate with each other.

Don't worry, I 100% agree with you; communication is key to beating Gold.

That's what made it worse for me, they actually HAD mics, they just chose not to listen, which is frustrating as considering my friends and I all have the unwavering achievement from finishing every map on Gold.

I guess I just assumed they’d want my help and just wanted to teach them the strategies that my firends and I have found to work.

I blame the fact that a lot of bronze players are attempting gold this weekend and figure they can just do the same old shenanigans.

Oh well, Apparently having finished every map on Gold doesn't carry as much clout as I thought it would.

I like to think the weekend has served some purpose in improving my skill level a little. Before The operation was announced I had played Gold maybe twice and never gotten further than wave 6. Since then I have finished several times and managed to get a 3 player game to wave 10 after one player dropped out in wave 3.

Operation Goliath moved me from playing bronze only to silver and now I feel I've been forced to move up another gear. Thanks to everyone who helped me with tactics for gold.

I await my Valiant eagerly, but am fully expecting to get the Crusader III

I don't really care which weapon I get in the packs. I'm just glad PS3 has finally gotten into the events.

Were they talking also? Were they responding to anything that you were saying?

Because I know (on 360 anyway) that people are always shown to have mics, but people can be in parties and therefore can't talk to you or hear you.

was originally petrified to try gold. but surprisingly, i made it through extraction in firebase hydra and white with a pretty good team. this was all done through a human engineer and geth infiltrator.

now, geth and reaper gold... i'll have to do some calibrations...

I did a few randoms gold games tonight, pretty pleasant experience, few extractions a few fails, some good players, Plenty of dead phantoms though. Woo.

Regarding mics, it does help.

I have a hilarious sore throat so i've spent tonight with a mic on, but muted as all I can do today is croak and that wouldn't help anyone. Even listening to chat from your team mates is better than total silence if you are really mic shy with randoms. You might hear a shout about the location of a phantom or a help shout from a team mate and even if the people on mic are total morons, you can just turn the volume down.

Yeah, unfortunantly they were responding... -sigh- ...must have just come acrross a bad batch of noobs, oh well, i've vented now anyway.

Personally, If i'm in a party I always switch back to game chat in a match, To do otherwise just seems rude.

Awesome work man, The more dead phantoms the merrier.

See, the key word in your sentence is "listening", I think there's nothing wrong with just being able to hear each other, as long as there's some form of communication between each other.

See I'm not really bothered if my team-mates respond, it's just as long as they're willing to cooperate and work as a team.

Its an odd one, I think a lot of people who play ME multiplayer will possibly be very new to multiplayer gaming and a bit shy with mics.

I know I am/was.

This is literally the first online game i've played, i've always been more of a single player rpg type, and although I will have a mic on when I play with my mates I wouldn't automatically mic up in a random game, I think with a lot of people its just lack of familiarity/comfort with talking to total strangers on line.

The reality is of course that most people are perfectly nice and it really helps on gold, and now i'm much happier to turn mics on but I honestly think some people are for want of a better word ... scared of mics.

I have a fairly strong feeling you might have hit the nail on the head there. Still, once again, I've got no problem with people who don't chat as long as they're willing to listen to feedback from the team.

I've found most of the players of ME3 MP are very easy to get along with and thankfully it hasn't turned into a CoD style community where every second sentence is derogatory.

Well, thats probably the 1st bit of good news for the PS3 in a while.  Wonder who cavved in first?

...Sony, because it was Sony holding it up, the packs are availabone on X360 and PC so the only way it wouldn't BE Sony is if the packs were suddenly PS3 exclusive.
