I had no idea this exorcist weekend was for the PS3 till someone told me yesterday. Finished quite a few gold matches, but this does explain the huge load of medioker players with terrible ranks joining the games. Or trying to join, since we kicked almost everyone:D

Damage isn't everything. Exploding blades stagger enemies, and since the blades also staggers when you first shoot it you have an ability that staggers everyone around you twice! That gives you the opportunity to heavy melee, melee combo, or line up easy headshots on 2 enemies instead of just one.

i use a light shotgun. i can launch new blades, with the armor on. within 3 seconds. so exploding blades indeed, are useless for me and i bet for many others. For not even thinking it through, i hope you get an eagle from your pack

The rank alone says nothing, as lot of people opt. not to promote. Look at their gear instead.

Gear is good.

N7 20 with a 20 Soldier wielding a Claymore X has more than likely spent a lot of money, or has been playing with that one character for a long time; the latter is the most likely.

One of the Gold matches I finished this weekend to extraction with everyone alive was with an N7 18 and a 42, both using an Avenger III and Predator I.  Other guy was a 182 using nothing but an Arc Pistol IV.  And it only took 24 minutes!  I was going to quit when I saw these people and their loadouts, but I stuck with it.  The 182 and myself scored around 80000 while the Avengers scored 30000 or less, though.

I find that I really dont care about score, as long as the player can just stay alive for long periods of time and require minimal revives. If you can stay alive, you are useless in every match.

Wait, what? Is the eagle bad or something? I was hoping to get it (got a valiant last pack), although I would rather get the hurricane since its buffs.

Pretty much the same.

Gave it a shot a few times, but I've only been playing MP for a week and had to give up, as all my teams were mediocre like me or worse. I went on to play silver games to beef up my characters and was able to unlock the Carnifex and Disciple which I do MUCH better with.

Maybe next time I'll be a contender.

I got really lucky. First gold game I searched was the one. I got linked with some pretty awesome guys. I was worried at first since one of the characters was a level 8 asari, but we did a full extraction in 28 minutes. 2 casters, an engineer (me) and an infiltrator. Although it was set to random on both the location and ennemy, we got geth on firebase white...

It is pretty hard to find good gold teams on the PC.  Because I don't promote my soldiers ( I don't see the point and I don't have time to keep re-leveling) I'm level 40 and I get kicked even with a level 20 + full gear.  Also because I play as a Justicar I need my team to stay together to utilize my bubble.  Usually someone goes off on their own and dies too far behind enemy forces to be revived, trying to solo on gold.  I also had a pair of guys who broke away from me because I was "stealing kills" with reave, because all the Justicar can do is cast the bubble and spam reave (while head-shotting everything with the M99).  Of course they died immediately and blamed me.

I got extracted 2/10 gold matches before I came across I high level team that didn't kick me.  They said, "Hey, a level 40 named bonerfest is on our team, how can we lose?"  With good communication we won 4 straight  before calling it a night.  Me and an Asari Adept in the bubble on one side, Infiltrator and Engi on the other on random maps against Cerberus (good communication allowed us to set up in ideal locations quickly).  We never even came close to losing.

I'm hoping for the N7 AR or SMG.  Whatever my Justicar can use.  I already have the N7 sniper rifle and the Claymore X from all the spectre packs I got yesterday, so the only way I can lose out is if I get the heavy pistol.

I think for my own sake I should play some games on my other classes, who are all level 12 or higher from all the packs, and max them out just so my level isn't so low and getting me kicked during events in the future.

And to players being kicked because of their low N7 rankings, I sympathize.
Everyone should check equipment as well as level before kicking.
I only kick when they're taking more than 5 minutes to Ready Up.

LOL are you sure they didn't change it to silver last minute.

Same here.  Got into a match after searching through a few rooms, got one that looked good, and we managed to beat it in good time.  Asari Justicar, Geth Infiltrator, Turian Sentinel and myself as a Salarian Infiltrator.  Most of us were pretty high ranks, but the best part was that the other three players stuck close to the Justicar to utilize her Barrier field and allowed me to pick off enemies as they closed in from a distance.  Although, we were playing against Cerberus, so the Phantoms were a problem for a round or two, but nothing big.

Why not promote? You get to experiment with some different character specs and it helps your single player game. Plus, levelling a character up is fun.

I managed to get a Gold extraction on my second try- found a team with some insane snipers who just murdered everything on Firebase Reactor. All I had to do was sit around keeping a decoy alive.

Got lucky --- First time even trying gold this weekend, and got into a great team. We finished 4 rounds in a row.

First two games was: Salarian Engineer x2 (one of 'em being me, lots of decoy spamming), Salarian Infiltrator, Geth Infiltrator.

Second two games was: Salarian Engineer (me again), 2 Asari's (not sure exactly what class, at least one had the barrier bubble though, and they combined for a lot of bio-explosions), and Salarian Infiltrator.

I talked a bronze team into switching to their highest level characters and I'd run them through a Gold. They didn't even know there was a weekend event...

N7 Levels 46 32 70

They were scared, and we lost the first one, then they got the idea and we went again and full extraction at 30 minutes.


Moral of the story, give it a try, don't kick people, walk them through it.
