id agree really, i always felt that choosing liara was the 'right' choice that it was suggested you make

i didnt see the attraction of any of the other possible LI's anyways so it was win-win for me :D

LOL... Liara pushed herself on you in ME1 as well. She made her motives about that quite clear in ME2 during the Shadow Broker addon. No surprise in ME3. Although personally she never pushed herself on me in ME3 so I am curious about this.

I noticed ME3's cast list finally includes not just one, but two female writers. Previous installments were all done by males, so maybe this is the reason why Liara's become less of a stalkerish dream for fanboys.

She still is, but easier to keep at arms-length now. Except, she does sneak in a grab at the end of Thessia. <_<  Suddenly all her people's problems aren't in her face anymore...?

I'm glad to hear the matriarch's line is just a bug. I experienced it too...now I'm just going to not deal with her anymore. If BioWare fixes their crap, I may.

On the other hand, Liara calls you a "friend" left and right throughout ME3 even if you are in a reationship. -_-

I chuckled at how she seemed jealous of Ash and I at first, and then convinced me to end up with her! I was really hoping there'd be a triangular conflict kinda like ME1, with Tali, Ash, and Liara going at it over Shepard.

I had the exact same romance-plot as you OP, happened to me as well. One of the many many plotflag-bugs in ME3.

That is weird I have two other sheps that didnt romance her at all and all her dad said was something like a former commander instead of boyfriend so I guess he doesnt effect everyone.

What's the problem with it man? Liara is very cute, innocent and even though you didn't romance her she loves you! Isn't that awesome? :D

i totally agree with the OP!!!

i was exclusive with ashley from ME1. then SOMEHOW durring the course of ME3 i had liara meet me in my captains quarters at end game of ME3. i was expecting ash then all of the sudden liara shows up to say hello. i was like WTF happened, im dating liara now?!?!?!?

i know i was being a paragon like usual thorugh my dialogue choices, so i thought i picked some random upper right dialogue that made the game think i wanted to date liara all of the sudden. kindof sucked, i waned to bang ash REAL BAD.

Apparently "friends" means "We'll bang, okay?"

what are you guys talking about? they dumbed down romances throughout the game, with Ashley and Liara you basically go through 80% of the game never even talking about the supposed relationship you have with them, never having an option to invite them up to your cabin, or hug / kiss ala Dragon Age, nothing.

And before you troll me, I'm not playing the game for a dating sim, but Immersion in ME is everything, fighting the war to end all wars while my LI is on the ship I CAPTAIN and not even being able to talk to them about it or do ANYTHING that a couple would do is really really REALLY frigin weird and immersion breaking.

So there was a bug about Liara. So what? Who cares? The entire game or almost flat out ignores the fact you even have a relationship with ANYONE.

Why aren't more people pissed about that?

This is how I felt also. While everyone else is complaining about Liara always bugging them, I'm complaining about her not bugging me enough. And then there's Ashley. She basically says damn near nothing the whole game. I mean seriously WTF?

I romanced Garrus and I never felt Liara was forced on me, she just felt like a best friend.

Cause garrus is pretty much the second best when it comes to friendship/romance.

Ever hear people in relationship mention their partner feels like their "best friend"?  That's the vibe I was getting, so it can be seem from both perspectives, friendship or in a relationship, just with a generalized term of "friend"

She wasn't a really good friend for everyone.  See the problem?

Regardless if you romanced her or not (i didn't) the linear story was still there (i was a bit peeved about her giving me to TIM) but (she did save your life etc) i never felt forced, so i don't see the problem. She turned into a best mate type character for me like garrus. Knew how it was back when all this started.

She acts the same regardless of your choices with how you deal with her.  You fully state you don't like her with certain choices in ME1 and she still treats you the same as a player would did like her.  You can say this about Tali and Garrus as well (and I do like Liara's character), but I just find certain aspects of her character seemed to be forced upon Shepard and the story itself, this ties in with her new role as the Shadow Broker as well.

Another main problem for some, is that it's obvious that she has the most dedicated and fleshed out character development from ME1.  Great for Liara fans, but sucks for others and I understand that not every character can get the same treatment, but whatever happened to "no canon in our series" - it seriously feels like she is the main "sidekick" to Shepard's story, regardless of the gamer's input in a game based off of "choices".

well I mean, ****. Go and play lair of the shadowbroker. That's when this whole "forcing her on you" thing starts, at the end of that mission.

Everyone should remember that no matter how badly you treat Liara in ME1, without her Shep would be a Reaper corpse. No one else came to save you, no one.
