I spent 20 bucks on PSPs and got revenant and GPS each to level x plus a ton of medigel and rocket capacity upgrades. At the time I was let down that I didn't get a BW but after a while I got over it. The haul was still much better than what I'd normally get. Using cash does net you good stuff.

A few suggestions to others. Should you decide to buy packs with cash DO NOT BUY ALL AT ONCE. From what I've seen and heard that will not get you anything worthwhile. Maybe I'm crazy but I think the game gives you better stuff in intervals. Perhaps as a defense against credit farmers/cheaters. It seems like whenever you least expect it is when that awesome card seems to drop.

You spent your hard earned cash on thing you like and i won't judge you for doing so.If you are happy with that,I'm happy for you, even if I don't know you. It's better to spend 150 USD on game than on a w___e,for few minutes of pleasure.
But you could give a little of your money to the less fortunate people.I know I would.;)

I threw down some money on packs right when the DLC hit, so I think you guys are ****s for judging. It wasn't nearly that much, but to each their own.

Anyway, as was already said, if you aren't promised, up front, of a different experience if you pay real cash, don't expect it. People already have threads about the store system being annoying. Spending real money like this isn't going to have them listen to you more.

A fine example: I had two of my premium box purchases (with real money) not go through. EA support basically told me that I'll get them when they fix the problem. I know that's not going to happen, because they didn't give me a ticket number and I can promise you that the game isn't keeping track, because if it was, it would have given me the damn box.

So honestly, if you spent $150 and ALL your purchases worked properly? You're in a better spot than most, because I know a lot of people in my boat that spent a lot more money. You paid for something and got it, even if it wasn't as satisfying as you had hoped. We paid for something and got bent over.

Hmm, are you sure you didn't get it?  I've heard it gives you items, just that you won't see what you got, and it wouldn't be odd to get 2 character cards you already have at level 20 with all appearances maxed out.

My purchases went through, though it always gives me a "your purchase failed to process" on the first try.  I get the pack upon exiting and reentering the store, though it happens every single time, making the process twice as long.  I figure I can blame Sony for that though:D.

I don't expect special treatment for having paid money, and I certainly don't expect a dime of it back.

If you want me to quantify my point, I'll be happy to do so.

50 PSPs x 99,000 credits = 4,950,000 credits

I average 75,000 credits per Gold match against Geth at FB:W randoms, and each match takes roughly 30 minutes(which can go up to 35 minutes, but typically not much shorter than 30).

So it would come out to about 150,000 credits per hour.  33 hours of gameplay is needed to reach a similar level of credits.  A dedicated gamer playing 6 hours a day can accomplish it in 5.5 days.  For me, even 4 hours would be pushing it, and would take 8.25 days of consecutive Gold FB:W play to get there, which would get quite tedious.   That is of course assuming all matches go as planned.  Realistically I'd say it would take about 2 weeks of play for me to get that many credits, assuming only Gold and no Bronze or Silver for a less of an intense experience, and assuming all matches make it past Wave 10.

I've unlocked all the characters yes, though for the N7 weapons I would put total completion at about maybe 5%?  With all at rank X being 100%.  So a pessimistic projection would be that it takes me 10 months of play to get everything at X.  Optimistically maybe 3-4 months?  I predict MP would be quite dead in 6 months.

Not a very rewarding system for something that's such a time vampire.  And yet again, I only find the Black Widow and Paladin to be the only N7 weapons from store packs worth using.  The Javelin sounds nice, but not quite as good as the BW for raw DPS.  The Saber seems worse than the Mattock, and I'm sure the Claymore and Wraith are confused as it seems more like the Claymore should have been the N7 weapon.

Keep on promoting, thats why their is gold character gold, fast 100k experience boosts, really ups your levels if you keep on promoting. Its actually fun to build, and rebuild etc.

100k xp is insulting.  I get more in an average Bronze game.  Also some builds are obsolete due to underpowered or nonfunctioning/bugged skills(CS not applying ammo power for Amp evo, Negative recoil for TS if stability over 100%, Krogan Vanguard Rage not working,  Shockwave only lifting 1 target at a time and not working entirely after a while).

16-17 hours? So as long as you are making minimum wage its legit to buy packs if you don't have the time to play for credits.

That flashlight actually sounds really cool. Going back on topic, I think you can spend that $150 a better way easily. You don't need the best weapons to be good in the game. I've been rocking with the mantis x for a while now (granted I don't take it to gold with me).Image IPB

Try it.  I'm pretty sure even with a regular team of top players with the optimal biotic combo setup, you won't be getting 5,000,000 credits in that timeframe.  Unless you know, you exploit the system to repeat Wave 10 every 4 minutes, then you're golden:).

Is it any wonder people are cheating?  Remove the exploit, remove the easy FB:W Geth, and I'll bet people will disappear from MP come Diablo 3.  Honestly, I found WoW to be less of a grindfest that's more rewarding.  Speaking as someone working in retail, I understand wanting profits, but sometimes you need to find a happy medium between squeezing out profits and getting steady sales.  Bioware seems to be failing the latter.  Yes, they suckered me out of $150.  I just feel they could have gotten $50-$100 MORE out of me if the system was better designed.  Having players running around with rank X N7 weapons 2 months after release is a problem easily remedied with the release of MORE N7 weapons in later MP DLCs, none of which you even need to charge for before it pays for itself.

I hate greedy people.  Not because they're greedy, but because nobody seems to be able to do it RIGHT, and they lack all creativity, foresight, and hindsight.

Meh, it's your money, you worked for it. They do need to stop dropping character cards for classes you have maxed appearance on. I am maxed across the board, except ultra rares, even on the resurgence items/characters. At this point this almost no incentive to buy anything but recruit packs, since I also have every ultra rare unlocked except the Black Widow and Talon, leaving me with such a tiny chance of unlocking the one ultra rare I've wanted (Black Widow).

THIS is precisely my point.  The system is so utterly unrewarding that the average person won't be motivated to spend even $3 on a single PSP, much less the more dedicated gamers.  It relies on gambling addicts like me, and even then I doubt most would have gone to such extremes.  Is it better to have 3000 people shell out $3 each or 5 idiots at $150 each?

I'm appealing to Bioware's wallet here.

Also an off-topic tangent here, but wouldn't a mono-mob mode be awesome where you fight only 1 particular mob for 5 waves at ever increasing numbers?  I imagine some thrill seekers would get off from fighting off 20 phantoms or 10 Banshees at once.  More ways to get some fun out of this game:wizard:.

Spending Real life money does not get you treated differently

Not expecting it.  Just figure Bioware might have some interest in more effective ways to gain revenue.

My explaining that the purchase of packs isn't worth real money to anyone willing to pay for them is sure to drive away business:whistle:.

$150 only amounts to 12,000 MSP. and Specter Packs are 240 MSP each. That means you bought 50....yeah getting crap in 50 packs sounds about right for this MP pack distribution setup. I'm not going to hold anything really against people buying packs with their money, since well....it's their money. I personally wouldnt mind using a 1600 MPS card on say...equipment packs, just not now (too busy hording it for Minecraft ^_^ ).

This is where I get confused....

You don't have time to play the game, so you spend $150 of actual money on stuff that you can use when you ... play the game. Do you see why I struggle with that concept? If I don't have any time to play guitar i'm not going to solve that by spending lots of cash on a better guitar.

Whats the point in investing 150 bucks buying stuff for something you are apparently too busy to sink any time into?

I do a full time law degree, a part time job (which trust me, works out at more than 40 hours a week when you add it up) have a social life and talk to real life people and stuff, but I can still fit in a couple of games every few evenings or a a couple of hours on a quiet sunday, doing that, no exploits, no real life cash i've unlocked all the characters and all of the usefull weapons.

I totally don't buy this "I don't have the time" argument, spending that much cash on in game content isn't about lack of time, its about a "I must have the best stuff on teh internetz" attitude, wanting to be competative with out actually bothering to compete.

Just play the game and unlock the stuff.

People can spend their money on whatever they want, but that doesn't mean others will not judge them.

There is a reason people call gambling a "stupid tax".

I think you confuse "laughing at" with "flame".

He spent almost three times as much as the price for a fully-developed game on packs. And what's more, what is he going to do with all that gear? Play the game? Which earns credits? Which he'll spend on...Oh! Right. He'll just top out so much faster, so probably nothing. I haven't spent any money and I'm already capped on rares, but that was by playing and enjoying the game.

Spending money on the game is basically paying to play the game less. So, we loop back around to the whole "laughing at" thing. A fool and his money, finish it yourself.

So he spent money on something, $150, without even knowing what he was buying? Sorry, but that kind of stupidity breeds its own reward. He can't blame anyone but himself, especially considering if you look at the goddam description in the store it says it contains random items.

My thoughts exactly. People talk about $150 like its the holy grail. Its your money and you are entitled to spend them on whatever you like - if i wanted to wipe a $100 bill across a strippers sweaty ass, roll it up and smoke it, then that is exactly what i would do. And it would be noone elses business.

That being said, i would also feel ripped off having spend any amount on something, and being left with the feeling that buying packs currently leaves me with.

Well, if you play to advance your character, look at the time spend obtaining a Spectre Pack: roughly 1 hour of playing on silver, and ~30 minutes on gold.
Spending money i have earned on advancing my character would grant me enough points to purchase 10 spectre packs with 1 hour of work (after taxes). With some quick math, that saves me anywhere between 4 and 9 hours depending on difficulty of the game.
