I lack the same...enthusiam for ME3. It's a good game and all, but I get sick of it after a few hours even with the MP. It feels like a hollow version of Mass Effect, even though it has more stuff on the surface the little things are missing. No epic battles with Maws, no amazing hub worlds to look forward to (though I completly understand that decision) and no epic conclusion to get excited about. After I finish the Rannoch arc I feel I've accomplished what I needed to accomplish. Though looking for the Keepers was neat I'd hardly call it exciting, and that's what side quests were turned into. Just searching in random places for War Assets, not exactly my idea of immersive fun.
I know I'm probably preaching to the chior here, but it's really the impression I got after popping in ME1 again.
Now for scores, everybody likes scores
Story
Mass Effect 1: 10/10 The story sucked me in and never let go. T'was the reason I beat it 10 times
Mass Effect 3: 7.5/10 It has incredible moments, though those moments are few and far between compared to ME1. It feels incomplete.
Squad Interaction
Mass Effect 1: 8/10 There were some good conversations to have, but mostly limited to after you beat a plot mission or a lot of exploration missions
Mass Effect 3: 9/10 The auto dialogue was a decent answer to the empty dialogue wheels ME1 and 2 sometimes had. Plus it was nice to see the crew interacting with each other and moving around
Gameplay
Mass Effect 1: 8/10 If this was based entirely off of the shooting aspects it would've been a 6/10, but the skill tree was impressive and the skills themselves were really cool
Mass Effect 3: 8/10 If this was based entirely off of the shooting aspects it would've been a 9/10, but the skill tree, while good, was limited compared to ME1.
Immersiveness
Mass Effect 1: 10/10 The story was amazing through and through and exploring planets while listening to my MP3 player was some of the best and most interesting times I've had with gaming. Plus it had little things like the casino and priceless hub interactions. Kept me interested the whole time.
Mass Effect 3: 6/10 The story had some amazing parts, but the game didn't offer much after that besides watching your crew interact with each other.
Exploration
Mass Effect 1: 10/10
Mass Effect 3: 0/10
Decisions
Mass Effect 1: 10/10 Virmire, the council, the Rachni queen, whether or not to be a jerk to everyone
Mass Effect 3: 10/10 The genophage, Rannoch, whether or not to kill everyone
The Crew
Mass Effect 1: 8/10 Young and restless, but wildly immature. They had a lot of growing up to do which....
Mass Effect 3: 10/10 ...they did in ME3. James and Javik were cool additions.
Overall
Mass Effect 1: 9.5/10 A diamond in the rough, a truely under appreciated game. This is a masterpiece if there ever was one in gaming, IF you can get past the mechanics. A great story with a huge payoff. A journal that made sense
Mass Effect 3: 8/10 A story driven by huge "made for the movies" moments and some great ends for the origianal crews character arcs (save for VS). The game play and graphics are big selling points. No big payoff at the end, which is extremely dissapointing because it wasn't only the end for the game, but for the series overall.
What scores would you guys give these games in those catagories. Heck, you can even add a catagory if you want.
