 I still think ME3 is pretty good, even with the ending, but this year competition is pretty heavy. 

Bioshock Infinite will probably the critic's darling this year. Diablo 3 will get a huge audience, but I doubt it wins big. AC3 and Halo 4 are pretty strong too. If  "The Last of Us" drops this year, it will be a big contender too.

I'm personally hoping that Max Payne 3 turns out to be the best action game ever, but that's just me.

Maybe Bioware will pull off a "Best DLC" award? I can only hope.

hardly i cant agree with this, its just above avarage game.
The point into which the sreies is directed - action is not for me. I have no problem with actions games but if i want to play a shooter where i need to hind behind covers i prefere gear wars.
From ME i was expecting a lot of real oldschool RPG feel and there was nothing of it,
Bioware/EA RPG games are much more like action rpg now for players with half of their brain dead. I wish to see much more complicated and matrue game from bioware (by mature i dont mean more sex and blood).

IMHO the game is as many stated just average. It has far too many broken mechanics and is a step backwards from ME2. The horrible ending is just the straw that broke the camels back.

Definitely not GOTY worthy.

GoTY? Seriously? Don't make me laugh. Why is that? Because of the lack of player inputted dialogue? The awful "next gen graphics" (HELLO, LOOK AT KAIDANS LACK OF EYELASHES. To be fair though, some things did look better) The, quite frankly, appalling side missions? Or maybe is it the lack of hub worlds we could visit?!?!? Maybe it's the general dumbing down of the game!

What ever the reason is, in my opinion ME3 had the potential to be GoTY easily but it wasn't. Considering this year there's going to be many other great games coming out. Starhawk, ACIII. Just 2 there of the top of my head.

ME3 is like a great date but at the end for no reason your date kicks you in the balls, walks off.

Then you get a call a week later to explaine why the kick to the balls happend and asks you t to take her out again.

Yea, I would say - "That was the best date I had this year".........

People are getting too critical of the game after the bad ending... Sure the worst thing other than the ending were probably all the fetch side quests (the rest of them were fine stfu) and slight portions of auto dialog, but they undoubtably nailed the conclusion to this trilogy despite the ending to be quite honest. The ending has really put some people in a seriously bad mood (I'm one of those people, but I don't suddenly trash the rest of this great game because of how it ended).

Don't be surprised when this game does win some GOTY awards. No doubt it will also be nominated for GOTY by every gaming media outlet.

Actually I felt the beginning felt rushed back in the demo but I thought it was cut short for being a demo and get get people right in the action and the full game having a trial like what was said originally.

-The journal system is awful, a definate huge backstep compared to their journals post ME1
-Fetch missions were annoying in DA2 (better done though) and are awful in ME3 and just feel lazy
-the copy/paste from the internet with slight tweaks is just lazy (Tali image, Stargazer background image, and the RGB ending)
-the lies Bioware told only weeks prior to game's release

No, biggest flop of 2012 is more like it.

An ending that ****s the whole series up really just ruins it for me.

Objectively, I think ME3 is a solid game. ME1 and ME2 were both masterpieces. ME3 doesn't come close to either of them.

Auto-dialogue.
Boring and lazy fetch quests (the overwhelming majority of the quests in ME3)
Awful HUB world running animation
Broken game journal
Eavesdropping dialogue is lame and COMPLETELY uninvolving
Too much in-game dialogue (instead of the cut scene conversations) tells me BW was lazy
Fem Shep automatically flirts with Vega (drove me nuts)
Lack of ME2 cast as squaddies
Priority: Earth is lazy and awful
The endings are an abomination

I'd say it's still a 7.

Quoted for truth. I also disliked how some of the previous games' big decisions made little/no difference (rachni/human councillor/collector base) and how we fought Cerberus more than we fought the reapers.

The year isn't even 1/3 over.

Diablo 3 gets my vote already.  Blizzard doesn't pop out premature babies.  They release games when they are ready.

Mass Effect 1: 10/10
Mass Effect 2: 9/10 (was a great game but it was official that bioware was moving away from the RPG genre)

Mass Effect 3: 4/10 (because of Rannoch and Tuchanka were done so well, the rest of the game was just rushed)

3. No exploration
4. Bad intro
5. Parts of the game are unfinished
6. Game is much shorter in length than ME2.

I definately have faith in Blizzard. 

If anything this experience has taught me not to pre-order from developers that cannot be trusted. Looking back, it was rather silly of me to pre-order. There were definately signs that Bioware had already been indoctrinated by EA

No. The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition is GOTY. That game is perfect in every way, and if you disagree, then you clearly haven't played it.

Honestly Mass Effect's gameplay is like a like a mediocre third person shooter

They things that makes it good is the epic space opera story and characters that they really botched with three to focus more on the not great shooting

If ME3 gets GOTY award i'm very suprised. I'm almost certain that there will be more polished products this year. ME3 just lacked on some parts too much.

Witcher 2 is awesome but it's far from perfect.  The crafting and weapon upgrading is spotty at best, and given that it is utterly necessary, they need to work on that interface.  The amount of micromanaging you have to do is excessive and needs to be streamlined.  It's also frustrating that you have to actually get into a fight and die to know how you should have even prepped for it as there's no crafting on the fly.  Once you know it's rewarding though, but it messes with the flow of the game.

All that said it blows ME3 (or any ME actually) out of the water as an RPG with a deep story, combat, choices and consequences and a deep crafting system.
