No. The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition is GOTY. That game is perfect in every way, and if you disagree, then you clearly haven't played it.
ME3 is the FOTY, sorry.

Witcher 2 is awesome but it's far from perfect.  The crafting and weapon upgrading is spotty at best, and given that it is utterly necessary, they need to work on that interface.  The amount of micromanaging you have to do is excessive and needs to be streamlined.  It's also frustrating that you have to actually get into a fight and die to know how you should have even prepped for it as there's no crafting on the fly.  Once you know it's rewarding though, but it messes with the flow of the game.

All that said it blows ME3 (or any ME actually) out of the water as an RPG with a deep story, combat, choices and consequences and a deep crafting system.

I agree wholeheartedly. I loved Witcher's story, world, looks, feel, cynicism etc., but the combat and crafting system felt as a terrible drag. They really pushed it in the first game already (which was great as well, btw), but this one just went too far for me. I still finished it, of course, but I did slide the difficulty to easy. I do hope they manage to polish it for the next game.

And sure, it was still better than ME3 by a mile.

Honestly, even if we ignore the endings, I would say that ME3 is far from the game of the year. Almost every aspect of the game has dropped in quality since the second game. I noticed this even before reaching the ending. The only exception to this would be the handling of the main characters, which I admit has improved. I won't go into details since they've pretty much already been covered, but I think that some of the other games planned for release in 2012 deserve GOTY more then this one does.

Uh, no.
It's only April, we got at least 6 more months to go, before we can declare anything to be GOTY.
That being said: I'm pretty sure Bioshock:Infinite has that title locked down.

Now "Biggest Disappointment of the Year" would be more fitting.

I've loved the whole game so far (except when I talk to some characters it just refuses to let me use the dialouge wheel) my only bad part was the end but hey I blew up the reapers and shepard lives

The year just started, to declare ME3 game of the year without even seeing it's competition cheapens to meaning of that title.

Even if the ending was good it wouldn't win, the rest of the game isn't polished.

Although it's been clearly explained by other posters as to the reasons why it can't be GOTY, I can't resist adding...

Doubt Mass Effect 3 is getting Game of the Year this year.
1. Ending ruined the entire series.
2. This game started the downfall of BioWare.
3. No one in their right mind would vote this game GOTY knowing it was falsely advertised.
4. The majority will not support ME3 as game of the year, fact.
5. Many other games are coming out and may blow ME3 out of the water.
6. I doubt a game that went down $20 2 weeks after release on Amazon is getting Game of the Year.
7. There are too many negative reviews for the game because of the ending.
8. ME3 is overall a great game, but the ending was done terribly because of EA's demands and this will hurt ME3 a lot preventing it from becoming GOTY.

We haven't had E3 yet! There are announcements yet to be made. And we still have

BioShock Infinite (go look at that 15 minute E3 demo if you haven't yet, incredible)
The Last of Us (Naughty Dog, what else needs to be said)
Halo
Tomb Raider (game looks savage)

to come.

I have a feeling Diablo 3, Phantasy Star Online 2, or some other new game to be released this year might wind up superior.

I wish we could see more footage of The Last of US! Excited for this game. All we need now is Jak 4 and I would be so damn happy.

GOTY should go to a game that deserves it. And unfortunately, ME3 does not.

The entire concept is save Earth and Take back Earth and we spend maybe an Hour on Earth,The game ends in space.

All the hype over Earth and we barley see it. This is enough reason for ME3 to be considered a fail. This EMS Hammer bs,I dont even know what you are talking about... Lol (I do) but as you can see EMS means absolutely nothing to me. As does MP,the ending, and every part of ME3 with the exception of Rannoch and maybe Tuchanka...

So no it does not deserve GOTY. Let's make a Pokemon and give it to Nintendo.

Kid Icarus: Uprising is already a game I've played longer and enjoyed more than Mass Effect 3.

If you had asked me that three months ago, I would have laughed in your face.

I stand a humbled man. KI: Uprising is awesome, hilarious, addicting, feature-filled, fun, charming, and completely satisfying in the end.

ME3 did NOT satisfy me in the end.

LOL.

I'll say it now: ME3 has zero chance at GOTY. The thematically and narratively broken ending will preclude it from even being nominated in the category.

I don't think there has been such a wide discrepancy between game critics and fans until the fiasco that is ME3. Go check Metacritic if you feel like getting sad.  No game with such (justified) fan rage has a chance to win GOTY.

So much wasted potential. ME3 could have been epic, and could have had a genuine shot at GOTY if it had bothered to stay within minimal narrative conventions.

How depressing for gamers if the rest of 2012 offers nothing better than ME3.

*walks by and does a double take on this thread*

wha......your serious!!!!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....*wipes tears from eyes*...... I can't stop laughing *continures rolling on the floor*,

the only way bioware could fix all the flaws with mass effect would be to overhaul the entire game, Based on all comments so far and all the PR managed compaigns its highly doubtful they will do that since it seems they don't really listen to the fan base like they claim. Mako, harbringer, human reapers, illusive man are just a few examples

Keep hoping but these things won't be fixed so I highly doubt game of the year, if anything it looks like diablo 3 and max payne 3 might be in contention for that title and rightly so based on all information coming out and each developers reputations that they maintain.

Mass effect game of the year......ahahahahha.....good one op
