Knowing how the trilogy ultimately ends, would you recommend a newbie to play all 3 games?

Or would you simply tell them to just play up to the end of ME1 or ME2?

um...I think i'd recommend Gears of War tbh. The end of the tilogy is fantastic and the last few scenes are incredible! (the fight with the queen is pretty sweet too). Oh and Clayton Carmine is ftw!!

Definately play ME1.

Should play ME2 as well.

But everyone should play ME1

I have recently recommended all three games to a friend. I think he would love the series if he did and whilst he may end up disliking the ending, I'm confident he would enjoy talking to me about it and speculating what the Extended Cut may clarify etc.

He would not dismiss the quality of three full Video Games based on an arguably bad conclusion to said Trilogy.

I'd definitely suggest people play up to the end of ME2 (can't miss the ultimate suicide mission). But I really can't say I would suggest 3, at the least I'd say play up to when Anderson bites the bullet.

I would recommend but warn about the terrible ending.

Definitely,

Mass Effect 2 with its suicide mission was one of the greatest moments in my gaming career, awesome.
Mass Effect 1 in large parts a bit boring in my oppinion, and very annoying as an infiltrator, but very good to understand the story behind Mass Effect 2 and 3.

Since they said that they would add clearing to the endings, theres no reason why i should keep friends from playing it.

I would recommend the entire series. I might include a disclaimer about the endings (we'll see about the EC), but I can't imagine not experiencing the entire trilogy.

It is likely the same answers as the ones in the thread about whether or not they thought they would want to play ME1/2 if they had only played and finished ME3. Most said "no". The same likely applies here, too.

Yes, anyone who dismisses an otherwise superlative trilogy, despite its faults, on the basis of the last five minutes is just being infantile.

Of course i would recommend it - ME1/ME2/ME3 when price drops, however i would warn the poor soul that it is not finished.
Mass Effect series is great experience for anyone who likes sci-fi. Well, RG(especially G)B waves are not great experience for ahyone who likes sci-fi, true. But the rest is great.

This is pretty much how I feel as well so yes, I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

No,

Nobody should be buying any EA products if their going to endorse lying and not completing products before release. Then making players pay to get key points from games or to pay for their product they didn't complete in time.

Others companies are going to follow their lead if you let them do it. Be a good consumer. Complain and do not buy their products. Rent, buy pre-played or borrow games that you must absolutely play. Make them hurt and listen.

Yes. Letting 10 minutes overshadow the top notch quality of all 3 games is silly and childish.

Edit: Didn't see that what I said had already been said...in a much more sophisticated way...

No, the inability to understand that a work is judged as a whole is both blind and moronic thus it would be irresponsible of me to recommend it

Oh look, i can insult others subtly (or at least in ways that i would think is subtle) too!

I'd tell them to play the entire thing.

Who knows? Maybe they'll end up being one of those people that actually liked the ending for whatever reason.
