Knowing how the trilogy ultimately ends, would you recommend a newbie to play all 3 games?

I would tell a newbie to *NOT*, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, PLAY ME3 FIRST!

I would tell a newbie to start with ME1 and play forward and, then, come to the forums to state their displeasure with ME3.

Yes that is true. I would never tell anyone to play 3 first. Well, unless we get the bad stuff out of the way and let them enjoy 1 and 2 more?

So you want someone to get dissapointed just to get more people to your side ..

Yes.

To say me1 the game we all called ond of the best games ever trash because of a differnt games ending is retarded. Let them decide if me3 is trash.

I tell them wait to buy me3 untill after the ending dlc. Then again I'm not a angsty teen.

I'd recommend them to play for the experience. But would tell them to not fuss over seemingly "important" decisions and definitely don't bother with grinding and doing "every" side missions possible. Just breeze through and enjoy the games.

Without hesitation, I'd say yes.

No. The whole point of ME was the belief that your choices mattered and would have serious consequences in the end. This would be like me recommending someone board a passage on the Titanic because the cruise is super AWESOME, right until the end.

People saying no are pathetic.

The Mass Effect series is one of the best trilogies this gen, and each one are excellent games on their own.

Of course I'd recommend it.

Name calling because someone has a different opinion to you is pathetic, get some perspective.

They are though. The three games have universal acclaim across the board, are incredibly engaging and are one of the most rich and rewarding gaming experiences out there.

Call me pathetic if you wish, but I'm right, and I'm not letting the final 5 minutes sour what is and will always be an epic series. Perspective? Say that to the people who constantly moan and complain about how terrible the game is, how the ending ruined their lives, bla bla bla.

There are bigger and more important things in life y'know, there is some perspective for you.
BSN is just one big cry-fest, the tears that have flooded this board could cure Africa's drought problem a thousand times over.

it's what is known as a first world problem. I don't have a drought problem, I can't (and won't) fix someone elses drought problem, so I'll complain about video games. Don't like it? Go and fix someof those problems you carp on about.

Play the first two and pretend ME3 never existed and you will be a happy ME fan/customer

Ack. As pissed as I am about the ending, a second play through ME3 shows off how excellent the game is from start to...well, 10 minutes from the finish. Yes, I would recommend it. From a technical standpoint, it's the best game in the series. Too bad for the jarring, disconcerting end.

Yes, all three games were brilliant, the ending wasn't so bad that it ruined the entire series, despite how some people have (over)reacted.

I wanted to get my girlfriend to try them as an intro to real games (last thing she played was the ancient Harry Potter games years ago). Now I'm not sure; guess I'll just have to hope the EC helps a lot.

I want them to experience the good parts of the ME story. If you prefer them to miss out on that just so you won't disappoint them, that deprives them of something great.

My intention is not to disappoint them for "my side". They will come to the forums after they get through ME3, but I will not let them ruin the first two because of ME3.

Yes, anyone who dismisses an otherwise superlative trilogy, despite its faults, on the basis of the last five minutes is just being infantile.

Agree with this

Depends on the person but for the most part, ya I would still recommend it. The ending damages the trilogy badly, but the games are still good. Also, you can at least go wit hthe destroy ending and just ignore the incredibly nonsensicalness that is everything the child says.

Yeah, get them all used or at slap down price.
I would also tell them in the last game there is many plot holes throughout the game.

Absolutely. This is the best video game franchise of recent memory. Whether they like the ending of 3 or not, the journey to get there is well worth every second put into it. And, even if they don't like the ending, they still will have experienced this overall great story . . . and who knows, they might just be one of those (like me) who actually LIKES the ending. Even if I didn't like it, I couldn't take away their option to like it just because I didn't.

I would recommend buying ME3 at a much later date when its cheaper. Until then occupy yourself with ME1 and ME2.

ME2 is still one of my favourite games, even if ME3 devalues the experience a little

Look at my post at the bottom of the previous page. It's just the way your post was structured made it look like you had that kind of goal Posted Image. Who knows, they might be one of the few that liked the endings.

you ever have sex with this totaly hot chick youve been eyeing for months, and then at the last second when your just about to climax, your dick falls off?

theres more things wrong with ME3 then just its ending, but its the only thing currently getting the attention.

my biggest gripe is that ME1 was 100% better. hows ME worse then when it started?

Yes.

I recommended the whole series to several people and didn't receive a single complaint. It's one of the greatest gaming franchises of all time to me. I TRIED getting as involved in others as I wait for the EC...

TES.....When I started up Oblivion again I remembered what Bioware does right every time. And Skyrim is not much better, just shinier.

Deus Ex...after all the fuss about it.... Still prefer the ME games.

The Witcher.....comes CLOSEST. But I simply cannot get INTO Geralt....fangirl over him, yes, RP as him? HECK NO.

So there is something that Bioware's games have that others lack, warts and all. And ME3 has got it in SPADES. The devs put their hearts' blood into this tale, even if the endings aren't popular, that cannot be denied. And I will always recommend this trilogy because of that.

And ME3.....the character writing and score alone are GOTY material in my book.
