I admit that it is still far too early to say for certain. But from what I have heard so far, I can safety say that it will NOT solve my problems. The ending is broken, plain and simple. Adding a few lines of diologue that still result in the same three choices changes nothing for me.

Yeah since the problem is that my Shepard would not have made those choices in the first place just making them longer does nothing to solve the problem.

If I go to a burger joint to return a burger because it has a fly on it I don't want them to put a bigger fly on the burger I want a burger that does have a fly on it at all.

My initial reaction is no. BioWare seem intent on polishing the broken ending to make it look a little better, but it will still be broken. It needs to be repaired. Then again, I haven't seen the extended cut, they could pull off something amazing unlikely as it seems.

Same exact endings with just more "stuff" doesn't fix the fundamental problem with the endings.

So no.

Yeah and if Bioware and their fans had a braincell between them they would understand this and we would not have to keep trying to explain it to them in thread after thread.

Will the EC "Fix" the ending?   No, not really, that can't be done without a complete rewrite of everything post Anderson death.   Working within the confines of what we know, what could make the ending palatable for me are:

1- Make star-brats arguments logical at least (I'd rather him removed totally)
2- Expand and differentiate the endings, what happens in the aftermath, how does the galaxy rebuild.
2a- If Shep can survive Destroy, can the Geth?  Can EDI?    What does Synthesis really imply?   How much control would "Control" really give us?  Is is permanent or temporary "control"?
3- Delete the crash scene and give real closure with those we care about, LI, Crew, and Friends.  What becomes of them?    Are they rescued off that plant before they starve?   (See the Epilogue thread in the my sig for an idea of what I want.)

I'd like to see "Control" split into two:   1- A way to just kick the Reapers out (even if it just reset the cycle) but have Shepard lives and 2- Shepard joins the Reapers for permanent control.

I'd like to see "Destroy" split up too, with high enough EMS you can choose to kill the Reapers and yourself (Thus saving the Geth & EDI) or sacrifice the Geth & EDI to save yourself.

Can I just have any ending that is not dumb, but epic instead?

ME1 ending was beyond awesome. ME2 was absolutely breathtaking. ME3 was small, tame, unimaginative, gutless, resigned... just, duh.

If they fix all that, I'll be happy. I'm not going to write a list of what to change.

The only way it will satisfy is if they adopt the Indoctrination idea for that scene, then have the actual ending play off that afterward. It must of course resolve the status of all our squaddies and major npcs, the state of the galaxy, and utilize our choices in the battle scenes as well. If they do that, it could be great. Preferably Earth will turn out to turn the tide of the war, rather than maintain the Reaper off switch, and preserve the relays.

If they decide to say that the instant off switch at face value is the actual ending, and they keep any, never mind all three, of those completely anti-thematic options as our only choices, then no, there's no way it will satisfy. So we'll see what "extended" actually entails.

And if they nix anything because they think it's too complicated for the game's audience, that's just insulting. The game's not made for six year olds (never mind I could understand all of it just fine at six, so I don't know how simple they'd have to think we are..).

Probably not, unless "clarification" means "retcon." I suppose if a hopeful epilogue is added despite all endings, I could say "yes," but not an "expansion," on drivel we don't care for.

No because nothing can solve the endings problems.  It's impossible.

no....the endings were only part of the problem I had with the game. Don't expect them to change/fix anything (even if I wish it), but there it is.....no, I don't believe the ec will solve any of issues with me3. So, I will continue to play ME1 and ME2, but that is all.............

NO

If the ending was horrible and basically ruined the series for me. Why would more cutscenes going further into detail about what I hated so much make me happy. That is what I don't understand at all. It's like Bioware is halfway into denial by recognizing a massive problem...then pretending we want clarification when we want the horrible ending gone all together or options to get other endings.

ME was my favorite series and I beat the firs two games 10 times each at least...I can't even see myself playing ME3 anytime soon even though it was the best one in the series...until the end. Totally ruined the series for me...totally did.

IT could have been the geatest thing in any video game of all time. Right or wrong it would be outstanding...but no....even if they didn't plan it they still don't take the idea from the fans and go ahead and give us more of what we don't want....IT was my ONLY hope of redeeming ME.

I anticipate them attempting to make a "happy" ending, which will only contain more space magic and nonsense (e.g. even though you have no reason to believe it should, EDI and the Geth don't die in the destroy ending. Congrats! You chose wisely based on zero information available to you!)

Otherwise, I expect simply merely an epilogue after the current ending, which will not really 'fix' anything, but will simply appease a tiny portion of the fanbase. The actual bridging the gap between the devout fans of the universe and Bioware, I think is beyond the scope of their stated vision of the ending DLC. It's pretty clear that whatever the cost, they're not willing to retcon.

So much for a simple yes or no. And I still don't know how to answer your questions on an item that is still in preproduction.

Mine too.  But Mass Effect is beyond saving now.  It is only a matter of time before everyone else realizes this.

Wish I was one of the few who enjoyed the endings, really do.

It doesn't matter since all my friends, including the guy who 100% 'ed ME 1&2.......TWICE, sold ME3 and are playing other games like Deus Ex and The Witcher. Everyone I know is so fed up with the ending debacle that they just quit on BW. Sad to say the only reason I haven't sold ME3 is because I have the CE and it's the only CE/deluxe game I've ever owned. I want the endings to be good but I'm really beginning to fall into the "not giving a damn" crowd. So long BioWare, I've been a loyal customer since Baldurs Gate and it was fun while it lasted...too bad you had to jump into bed witn EA.

No, It won't solve my problems. In the end I realized what I wanted eventually would not have been the course of action they would even think of.

Rid of the kid, which mean rewrite the game, which mean re do Mass Effect 3 when they did such a good job with the resolution of the genophage and the krogan animosity with citadel races.

But I have an open mind about the Extended Cut. If the scenes actually are epic in scale and grandeur it may just make me be satisfied with moving on from James, Christian, and Revan Shepard. A proper closure and ending to the tale.

Rewriting was never going to do it for me. Indoc theory was never going to do it for me. This form of actions would require a complete rewrite of the entire game without opening more plot holes, inconsistencies or make the ending convoluted with palmface nonsense.

So yeah even though my answer is still a No... I will keep an open mind about the Extended Cut DLC.

It depends

YES: If it confirms that Indoctrination Theory is correct and that ME4 will be the war against the reapers then I'll be OK with it.

NO: The literal ending is broken beyond repair. It cannot be explained logically and it cannot be fixed. Any attempt to explain the dozens of plot holes will ruin Mass Effect as a franchise.
