Looking on many games we can see that they leave some kind of legacy...

Ultima I, Akalabeth are regarded as the beginning of CRPG, Ultima 6 and 7 are regarded as a kind of renaissance period games that went beyond anything that was made before and in some cases they are still beyond reach of current CRPGs (except sandboxes) ... then we have also those Final Fantasy games that introduced emotion to CRPGs.

Baldur's Gate series is in the legend, still regarded as the pinnacle of CRPG development. Planescape : Torment is regarded as the deepest CRPG ever made from the philosophical and emotional point of view. First two Fallouts are regarded as the examples of possible excellence and working compromise between open gameworld and deep storyline... and I could list that forever.

How we will remember Mass Effect series in, say 10 years ? Will it be a heroic space opera we have seen in 2,9 parts of the game ? will it be a beautiful tale of what might be our own future ?.... or it will be rather a fatal failure of the endings ? will the expression "game X still had a better ending than Mass Effect 3" enter gamers common language ?
