After the relay explosions the galaxy will be awash in element zero and in some cases dead reapers. In some cases the Citadel is even in tact. Sure mass exodus of the Sol system will be difficult but the Local cluster is the gateway to the Attican Traverse and it's largely unpopulated. The Batarians are almost extinct remember! I don't get all the doom and gloom. It's the start of a glorious new era.

Forget rebuilding the relays: after the immediate aftermath the races of the galaxy can now finally develop on our own paths (e.g. our own Type II technologies). As long as the extended cut focusses on all these amazing possibilities (i.e. the future(s) of the different races) and isn't just Mass Effect 3: Animal House Edition or a Starchild's Introduction to Astrobiology and meta-physics I think the fans will be back in BioWare's corner.

Extended cut was always going to happen imo... they just didn't expect the outrage. Bringing it forward/announcing it so soon was a great CYA/PR move. I can't wait for it.

I can't begin to tell you how incredibly disappointed I will be if BioWare doesn't continue to support ME3 if EC fails or causes god forbid another outrage. If BioWare abandons Mass Effect all together I think this outrage over the ending will be a footnote.

I don't understand how the E.C. Is going to make sense of all the plot holes. Without saying "this is my story, I can do what I want an make it sound stupid but still be right" or just calling everyone stupid. The plot holes are beyond fixing, only way I see it being fixed if you start over from where Shepard runs into the beam. Hell, make IT real even though I doubt it.

I can't get over you saying "forget the ME franchise."
It would be difficult to expand on it given the state of the galaxy at the end of the game, but there are other options available to BW.

Just look at the polls here. The EC will satisfy maybe 20% of the fans. According to the rest it will be more like twisting the knife. Why even bother? Every day that passes the tone on BSN turns ever more negative. After the ending, it's every little flaw, perceived inconsistency and decrease in quality in ME3 that's being passed under the microscope. The consensus is clear, the game isn't worth sh*t (Actually it's down to circa $30, the joy was unanimous over that).

Well, having the team keep working on patches, DLC and stuff for who knows how many more months simply isn't worth it. These guys cost moneys, and EA is still reporting losses. No sense in digging ourselves in deeper.

Forget the ME franchise. It's toxic.  OK, we heard you, saw the writing on the wall, learned the lesson, let's not do it again!
Let's get as far away from there as possible in fact.

Speaking of which... can anyone dig up those old D&D license papers? What was the expiry date on those? I hear there's been some interesting stuff going on in the Forgotten realms universe.

The sooner we stop prolonging the agony over ME3, the sooner work on Baldur's Gate 3 can begin. What say ye?

You're probably right OP.  But not for the reasons you seem to think.  I'm probably not going to buy an DLC for ME 3, for example.

But it has been Bioware's ****ty handling of the situation, more than any game creating that has ruined this whole thing.

Another company (of old Bioware employees) is remaking BG and BG2.  Then hopefully BG3.

As it stands, I don't want Bioware to go anywhere near the Baldur's Gate series.

They'll probably throw Jessica Chobot into a lead role and make every single choice 2 options that give you the EXACT SAME OUTCOME.

Maybe I'm hoping against hope here but BioWare said they were only adding a few cutscenes and an epilogue. If this is true then why the hell would they wait until summer to release it? I have a feeling the EC might include more than what they're saying. Should know better than to trust in BioWare though.:?

It might.

But on the other hand it's a valid PR strategy to sit it out, hence the projected summer release. A lot of people will have moved on till then.

Eezo isn't used as a fuel. It's used as a base material in the drive core of FTL ships. It's what makes the 'mass effect' work, reducing the mass of the ship so conventional thrusters(using helium3) can accelerate the ship past the conventional speed of light(more handwavium). The tantalus drive core on the SR1 and SR2 is unique in being the only drive that utilizes mass effect fields to create a gravity well that is perpetually in front of the ship, so the ship literally falls forward.

There are potentially so many positive implications about the endings... I surprised nobody can seemingly think of any and why the conversation is so overwhelmingly negative. The victory fleet will probably end up colonizing the local cluster which is the gateway to the attican traverse. Humans have been fighting Batarians over this prime real estate for years and now it's free to be colonized by all.

Wrex always dreamed that his people would colonize new worlds and now as leader of the krogan he could lead his people into a new golden age. All of the galaxies best scientists will be with the fleet. There may even be planets in the attican traverse compatible with Quarian biology and suitable for turian colonization too. With all the eezo, reaper & relay debris the races of the galaxy can start finally designing their own (type II) technologies on their own paths. Think of the possibilities for the geth fleet alone, etc.

Indoctrination theory would do the series the most injustice. Just got to keep the faith.

I'm sure there are new/better applications for Eezo that will enable our species to make the quantum leap that T.I.M. was talking about a realilty.

I come to the BSN forums for 2 reasons: to discuss the intricacies in BW games and to get showered in mass amounts of hyperbole. Thanks for taking care of #2 on today's BSN bucket list.

That is exactly why you shouldn't be Bioware, at least they are trying to do something about this 'mistake' where as you just want to do the typical villian move where it all goes wrong and you try to escape.

It's called a Renegade interrupt.

Kidding. Kidding.

I'm just in a holding pattern myself. We'll wait and see what happens when the EC stuff hits. Then I'll form my own opinion.

1 Bioware doesn't consider it to be a mistake.  They think the fans are mistaken.

2 They aren't 'doing something', they're giving out free DLC like candy right now, to try and buy their way out of this mess.  Just like they HAVE to release SOMETHING for the ending, because otherwise 60,000 who would buy Omega, WON'T.

The smart thing to do is get the EC out and polished enough that ME3 gets some awards and generates a bunch of new sales in a GOTY edition.

Seriously guys BW has been working hard on the DLC...  I think we OWE them a chance at this point.  They read the boards, they know whats being said.  I understand the desire for BG3 but...  thats a pipe dream at this point.  Why on earth would BW abandon DA and ME considering it's IP they own and it's extremely popular!?!  Just the fact that there are so many people ****ing about the ME3 ending will tell you that people are invested in the game...  Look at this point let's be constructive about what we want because this other chatter isn't doing anything except pissing people off.  I mean really...  it's not like BW can tell us exactly whats in the DLC (cause that would just ruin it).  They are hard at work on stuff, when they have news to post they will.  I've seen several twitter posts by the writing team of ME on epic meetings (and believe me if you've ever sat in a 4 hour meeting you know how it is) over the last few weeks.  There is absolutely nothing they can do right now aside what they are doing...  They don't typically comment on EMS issues cause really they really only need to do that when they have a fix (several people have already said they are looking at it so why post more on it...  and even then whats the point of talking about it if you don't have a fix immenant..  spend more time fixing than running fire drills).

All that said I lost a lot of respect for BW at the onset of this cause lets face it the ending sucked (no need to go on as to why as it's been covered multiple times).  I think they do deserve some credit for admiting there are issues and trying to fix them.  We all complain but look...  if this was ubisoft, or activision, or (insert game publisher/studio here) they would likely say just deal with it.  Heck Valve has had us on a cliff hanger for HL3 for how long???  Valve doesn't even get cupcakes for heavens sake.  While BW is no longer an instant purchase for me, I still respect them and I'm eagerly awaiting what they are gonna do.

I owe them nothing.  I've already given them money for the game, what more do I "owe" them?  Money, mind you, that they held onto for six weeks while I waited on a face import patch so I could play my own Shepard(s).  A patch, mind you, that DID NOT WORK.  For a feature that should have worked from day 1.  I had to rely on a fan-fix to get my Shep into the game.  The one that Bioware claimed their patch accurately represented.

You say oh, they're working hard on the DLC!  Well, that's speculation.  A word this fourm just loves, but, really, that's all it is.  Speculation.  They could have 2 guys working on it in the afternoons before they head home, which is why it'll take so long, for all you know.

Extending something doesn't make it better.  If you have a fever, and you feel awful, will having a longer, higher fever be even better?  No.  No it won't.

Also, don't even compare Valve to Bioware.  They aren't even in the same league.  Valve would never have screwed something up this badly, nor left critical issues in the game broken for this long.  SO many bugs, story errors, import problems, faces still awful, laundry list of problems.

That said, Valve hasn't "had you" on a "cliffhanger" for HL3.  They've never even announced such a game is being made, and generally only even hint at the possibility of it.  If they say they're making something, they do, and they are not afraid of holding it back for months, or even years, to make sure it's exactly what they want it to be.  (Such as TF2).  They don't rush things out before they're done.

Even if the EC and every non-cashcow...I mean "multiplayer" DLC is a total love letter to fans (instead of a love letter to EA shareholders), Bioware is still going to be climbing up a very, very tall hill.

If you alienate your fanbase enough, you can make all the DLC you please, but it doesn't mean anyone's going to buy it.  Wouldn't doubt the DLC of ME3 will go the same route as the DLC from DA2.  Disappear.

I agree completely with you DoctorEss !!!!

The polls are the result of people being childish and stubborn. It's obnoxious the way some people have sudden shifts of opinions just because 'x' made a great article on why he hated ME3/2/1...

That 20% will rise, I'm sure of that. The same way how alot of people said "I'm never going to buy another BW game again" with DA2, yet I see the same people up here in these forums talking about ME3 hehe.

Like I said in my thread, I honestly believe you guys are playing a different ME3 than the one I'm playing.  Because I haven't been into a game this much in a very long time.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but a lot of you are just hating purely for the sake of hating.

The game wasn't worth crap???  Not sure if serious.  Actually, strike that.  I am sure you're serious.  That's what makes the BSN community so incredibly sad.

No and I"ll say it again NO!.  There are enough generic fantasy games out there.  They roll out on a monthly or quaterly basis.  I was never a fan of fantasy and I am completely burned out on it at this point.  I am a sci-fi fan first and foremost.  Bioware needs to keep working on the ME property.  The ending may have been disappointing, but the universe has so much potential still left untapped.  They need to stick with ME, learn from this debacle and make the next installment wether that be a new SP adventure or a MMO (I don't really care which) even better.

EDIT: And count me in the "20%" who will be satisfied if the EC is done well.

I bet BioWare likes money so I bet they really want to make the EC count so the "minority" buys their next title.
