This tells me that they planed this "extended cut" all along... I should not be supprised they gave us a crap ending so they would give us a better one with payed DLC. Thank GOD for the hold the line/retake movement other wise we would have to pay for this.....

This isn't exactly revelating, if you dwelve into the files of any game, you'll find unused items, that some people would have appriciated to be implemented.

it's revealing considering how linear and lackluster priority earth was, and the other evidence that the game was rushed.

At least Bioware kept the most essential piece of information related to a squadmate in the final product - the fact that Anderson was born in London.

If those particular lines of dialogue ended up being cut, oh man, I would have RAGED.

I'm betting it's due to resource (memory) constraints...just like all the ME2 exclusive squadmates are on vid log (you only 'see' them one at a time)

I doubt it. They had all 12 squadmates + Normandy crew rendered in Collector Base (which was much bigger than the "talk" area in London) after all

they also found room for multiplayer on the discs.

Indeed. Multiplayer...and Diana Allers.:pinched:

Probably asking too much for that to be in the EC though? :(

No, I think all this cut content is exactly the kind of stuff we can expect in EC. Why make something new when you can restore your ideas you didn't have time implement, no?

Yes, my first thought too. All this great stuff they already have, plus some new content to tie up the aftermath and voila; some kick-ass dlc that would do absolute f*cking wonders for the fans' faith in this franchise and doesn't cost a bomb. Wins all round.

This pretty much nails it for me. This game was rushed by EA and the ending was butchered because of it. I'm sorry mods, but f*** EA. They can go to hell.

This wasn't cut dialogue, this was dialogue that was recorded in case they might ever have to use it. This has already been confirmed.

Unless Grunt is going to eat Starchild, they got there work cut out for them.

That's called cut content.

Directors film things all the time but they are not always implemented die to time constraints or producers.

Blade Runner's *cough* unicorn *cough*.

Guys, ensure this content and other squadmate/war asset support in this thread, great find isaac. Keep this and the other thread bumped.

This one makes people aware, the other shows support.

If that's the case, it'll go down as the worst marketing/ production descision in our hobby's short history.
The easiest and therefore most likely explanation is this found material was simply left on the cutting room floor due to time/ budget restrictions making it impossible to do all the visuals that were meant to go with it. Visuals (and gameplay? dare we hope?) that will, fingers crossed, be in production very soon as part of the EC.

They'd be stupid not to.

I hate all the "EA is evil" comments but stuff like this just makes them look very bad. Their reputation is shot but I'm sure they couldn't care less because they still make money.

Nah, the worst marketing/production goes to atari and the ET game. Basically they pumped out copies of this game, like twice the number of Atari systems sold, under the pretext that people were going to buy 2, one for the house, and the other for the vacation house.

EA has a solid record in the art of screwing talented developer companies they buy.

I've never really had a reason to get pissed at EA until now. I suspect BioWare had to fight to get the EC free to DL for everyone. I know EA wanted to charge for it.

You're giving Bioware too much credit.

They screwed up too. No reason to give that cluster**** ending for some crazy deadline. Even slideshow ending like Dragon Age Origins would be better than the **** they made. Bioware really wanted those endings. They wanted speculations for everyone. They thought that was a good idea. It's hard to believe, but that's probably true.

let's face it....Bioware needed a couple more months after the 'leak'.. EA forced the March 6th release. The ending was obviously rushed and cut. Casey and team know this, but they have to defend themselves instead of telling the fans the truth so EA doesn't get even more hate. That's why they were so quick to have this 'extended cut' coming out in the summer.

AAANNDDD... even with the time constraints they still made a great game except for the last 10mins. I can't hate on Bioware, but the more I hear/see EA on everything it makes me cringe.
It's too late now, but the whole concept of 'spending war assets' makes way more sense than having enough just for a 10sec cut-scene at the end.

I'm insanely depressed knowing that a good finale to this series existed... and it came so far... only for the very most rewarding and promising moments of the franchise to be ruined in the last mission and then destroyed in the final 10 minutes.

Bioware, I don't know if it was money, pressure, executive meddling, or what... but I'm sorry.

The soul of the franchise I loved is lingering on in the data, in the cut content, but what I see in the end is not that soul, and that really upsets me.

And now my biggest fear is the series has been nuked so hard it can never recover, and the last words the game will ever tell us is "buy more downloadable content".

I like them all, but Jack's is my least favorite. I feel like she needs a little more emotion, or urgency in her voice. Jacob's is, oddly, my favorite by far; Its the only one that seems realistic to me.

Maybe these parts weren't cut, and just the seeds of whats to come. What if BioWare introduced a DLC that had a playable mission involving all former squad-mates.

Also, is this the first time someone has found these?

Wow this is all such a shame. It does indeed remind me of KOTOR 2. That was clearly rushed and lost all coherency. Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't Lucas Arts gaming division get a massive overhaul of staff after that debacle. I am pretty sure I read somewhere that a lot were fired, from the top down I might add. Like I said though I could be wrong. I have never bought another Obsidian game, and although I don't think it was their fault, I also think that publishers sometimes need to be told they are wrong. Easier said than done I know but surely reputation is more important than quick sales.

I actually have to commend Obsidian as I did not know they tried to fix it. Bioware unfortunately have done nothing to help the situation with the PR guff. Reading all this just makes me sad at what should have been. I simply cannot believe that they thought this was acceptable and if they did well, just wow.

Obsidian was(is) a developer independent of Lucas Arts. Bioware is wholly owned by EA. There's no seperation there so they can't do anything on their own without an okay from EA. There is no Bioware the developer anymore, there is bioware the brand owned by EA. And we know from past history EA has no issue with trashing their own brands.
