It's all the sadder knowing that they actually had stuff like this planned, but someone decided to cut it.

I know we probably shouldn't expect much, but I hope this extended cut allows them to use some of this.

Rawrg! RAGH! ARGH! AAHHHH!

Seriously, what the hell happened, Bioware?

That's not a rhetorical question. I want to know what the hell happened to the ending of the game where we were going to see all our choices matter! Apparently you were GOING to do that but you didn't for some reason.

I want to know, and I want to hear it straight from your mouth.

Geez, what a sorry waste of an awesome finale to a five year trilogy beloved by everyone and their dog.

But they have additional time now, devoted exclusively to the end-game. Almost 2 month already passed and there's no release date for EC on the horizon so they will have AT LEAST 3 months of extra time just for the ending. So no, I don't feel like I should keep my expectations uber-low.

Just to note, Patrick confirmed that at least the Jack dialogue never actually went to anything.

They wrote it, and recorded it so that they could someday use it, but they never did. (It didn't get cut or get planned and dropped; they just ended up never needing to use it for anything.)

Not to say that they won't find a use for it now, but it never belonged to anything (there's nothing to "restore"—they'd have to create corresponding content from scratch to be able to use the voiceover lines).

How unusual... source? I always enjoy what Mr. Weekes has to say.

Wow it seems that was deliberately cut out because it shows how unnecessary green space magic is.

Ahh twitter... I dislike that website. Still might be worth it for just Weekes alone...

also thank you for fishing that out.

Yes, this.

Suck on these lines of dialogue, Star-jar.

The subtitles will all say one thing: "Awesomeness undelivered".

I'm betting it's due to resource (memory) constraints...just like all the ME2 exclusive squadmates are on vid log (you only 'see' them one at a time)

I doubt it. They had all 12 squadmates + Normandy crew rendered in Collector Base (which was much bigger than the "talk" area in London) after all

Up to 8 (vidcom) + the generic soldiers (a lot of them mostly human, some turians) + Garrus, Primarch, Vega, VS (optional), and the objects like the vehicles (Mako & Tank).  I'm talking about the area before the turret sequence btw.  That's why I think they went with vidcom in order to load up one model (with audio and animations for each model) at a time.  Once you finished talking with someone (say Jack) then it would unload the assets from memory.

Later on you see a certain speech to men at arms either from Wrex, Wreave, or Kirahee (haven't seen a vid on Geth Prime) why not everyone?  Again I can only think it was due to how much memory they had available.

In ME2:

Normandy crew was up to 4 (Chakwas, Kelly, Random bald guy, random woman) + 12 squadmates + area surrounding them...nothing else

I honestly can't think of any other reason aside from memory constraints (perhaps rushing to meet deadline they said, "let's just stick them to vidcom it's easier")

:( I think the Earth mission is a little dissapointing because so many war assets are a no show. Then I see this ....

Looking at leaked script, it seems like they were also planning (in early stages at least) to have an UI (user interface) where we would be assigning our War Assets during the battle, Suicide Mission-style:

CUTSCENE:
A second Reaper fleet arrives in orbit of Earth. Harvesters start launching from the Reapers, and descend towards earth in a massive swarm.

Conversation:

Shepard / Hackett / Anderson decide to move quickly to organize a defense to hold off the Reapers in orbit from reaching the Citadel and to keep the Harvesters away from the London facility.

GUI:

Hammer resolution: summary of performance of the Hammer striketeam and casualty report.

Shield planning: assign strike teams for orbital and planetary operations to defend against the Reaper counterattack.

Now I can't wait for EC even more! Summer hurry up! :D

Assuming...this is going to be in the extra content for summer...but something tells me it isn't. I don't know why, but I feel like we're going to get cut scenes only. I don't exactly mind - but after reading how THAT's what war assets were for...it's hard. War assets are just numbers at this point. Playing ME3 again I care less and less if I suggest we focus on small crimes on the citadel or give the weapons to oraka vs. placing a kill order on him. All those small miniscule (awesome) side missions are all...meaningless.

I hope to god the extra content includes assigning the war assets. But I think that's too much and too large a task.

Interesting stuff. But it remains to be seen if any of it makes it into the EC DLC this Summer.

Loving the UI Suicide Mission-style thing, but the million-dollar question remains:

Will it actually matter in the end?

Giving us that kind of freedom is great, but if they're going to just funnel it in to the same tri-colored ending, that really takes away a lot. It wouldn't really be like the SM...it would just be another, "oh yeah, all those right decisions you made back there? They don't matter" moment.

Yeah, this is what I'm worried about.

Priority: Earth was lack-luster from the second you hit the ground.  However, making it an epic, full-on ground assault with all the forces you've gathered and then getting to the beam and the Starchild after that?

I'm not sure I can handle that sort of quality whiplash.

Just imagine Destroy ending with this previously seen and heard lol. God, that would be such a torment. Thanks Dendio1 for finding this.

Basically a "Fuсk you starchild" line.

Yup.  Both of these sadden me deeply.

Of course, still wouldn't matter with the crap endings, but these are beautiful little bits.

It definitely makes me much more positive we will see war assets in action during final battle in EC. First the cut 'Reaper retake Citadel" stuff, now this.

Looking at leaked script, it seems like they were also planning to have a UI to assign War Assets during the battle, Suicide Mission-style:

I was thinking with collecting the war assets that there was going to be an epic battle where I am assigning those war assets like in suicide mission but with an almost strategy game style...

*sigh*

What the hell?

I take it these were found on the disc(s), and if so. If BW decided to pull it from the game, why the hell would they leave the files on there for us to find? That's just downright cruel. "Look what you all missed!!! WRAHAH FU"
