Heh, extra points for sneaking Jack McCoy into there! Loved Jack's "so proud of you" thing, the quiver in her voice was epic.Jat371 wrote...

LOL, that was great
Anyway. Things get cut from games/movies/books all the time. It's nothing new or shocking. Or at least it shouldn't be =)
In ME3's case im guessing that many of the things that got cut was due to time. They had a deadline to meet and EA was breathing down their necks.
What this does indicate though is that the final product maybe wasn't so close to their "artistic vision" as they claim it to be when defending the ending.
Exactly. Games with strict deadlines cannot be considered the creators "artistic vision" because most of the time their true vision is never fully realized. The example is in this cut content. They had a vision for how their ending would be, hence they recorded these voice sessions, but due to time constraints, they had to cut them.
In conclusion, the artistic integrity argument is full of sh*t, and I despise BioWare for latching onto it when all evidence points against it.
Yeah. Though I believe that it was IGN and their lackeys that first started to use the expression "artistic Integrity" (oh how I have come to hate that word...) and then BioWare unfortunately latched on to it.
But as you said, the artistic integrity argument is full of sh*t. There is no room for artistic integrity in this industry.

Then they just threw in the Starchild to wrap things up when they ran out of time.

All of this content sounds like it would have been awesome in the game, but, and I don't think people realize this yet....
This content seems to all take place before the Catalyst reveal. Unless the "Extended Edition" is going to change or remove the catalyst, the ending is still going to be filled with stupid plot holes and inconsistencies.
Unless they get rid of or change the star-brat, none of this "extra content" will fix the ending.
Pretty much.
While this part sounds like it would have been amazing the plot holes big enough to drive a dreadnaught through are what bug me the most.
The entire ending needs to be redone, not just a few extra cinematics (I call bull**** on the twitter, it's not going to be anything more than that, not unless we're paying them).

well and if the ending cutscenes made a little more sense (Normandy cutscene I'm looking at you...)

Listening to Jack's lines really makes me wonder why they didn't use her more in ME3. She's better in ME3 than she was in ME2!
I agree. What a wasted opportunity.

I seriously doubt we're going to see any of this in the EC. Bioware made it pretty clear they're just throwing in a few cut scenes and maybe some extra dialogue with the Catalyst to "clarify" the ending.
1) Some of this cut stuff could easily be implemented as cut scenes (between gameplay parts of the final mission on Earth)
2) Bioware stated that the EC will consist of more than a few cutscenes

Hm. I don't know if it was just my inner skeptic, but I was sure Bioware said something about adding no new gameplay (which I interpreted as meaning just cutscenes). Can't find it again, so I may well have been mistaken. I guess we'll see.
I think you were looking for the FAQ about the E.C.
http://blog.bioware....3-extended-cut/
the jist of it being
"For fans who want more closure in Mass Effect 3, the DLC will offer
extended scenes that provide additional context and deeper insight to
the conclusion of Commander Shepard’s journey."
and
"So there you have it. Are we proud of the game we made and the team that
made it? Hell yes. Are we going to change the ending of the game? No.
Do we appreciate the passion and listen to the feedback delivered to us
by our fans? Very much so and we are responding."
never occured to me before... but Bioware is contradicting themselves with the purpose of the FAQ and that last statement at the end...

What bright mind at Bioware decided not to put that in game?
I can answer that!
aaahhhh....corporate commander.....we have dismissed that claim
sadly this makes the most sense, gotta say tho haven't seen him recently in angry joes reviews, hell was fully expecting to see him in the ME3 review..........ugh well thats ok the markets about to get smaller with the rumors of Nexom planning on buying EA.

why not? At this point it couldn't do much more damage than what's been done. EA might actually benefit from admitting they effed up and apologizing.
biowear would be better off with anybody else other than EA

So we got multiplayer and Allers instead?
I'm so glad resources were devoted to Allers instead of fleshing out the final battle... have to prioritize the important stuff, you know! God forbid we get more closure at the end of a trilogy, much better to get terrible voice acting from an uninteresting character.
I cannot facepalm hard enough at this latest revelation.

Indeed, however do note that this is only one fleet. The rest of the Reapers are still out there. One Conventional battle one does not mean victory for the Galaxy.
However, Catalyst.

Yes, There Were Changes.
Anybody actually see the content cut from the first game, seems like a lot more than what mass effect 3 cut.

well,
1) ME1 was still a very satisfying game
2) ME3 wasn't.
Thus changes are more of note for ME3, because the potential success is the discussion premise here.
