Could somebody explain to me how this is any different than the changes made in mass effect 1 from 2006 to 2007?

well,

1) ME1 was still a very satisfying game
2) ME3 wasn't.

Thus changes are more of note for ME3, because the potential success is the discussion premise here.

Man's got a point, had ME3 been better recieved I doubt the disc's contents would have been so throughly searched...at least not so quickly.

Clearly those changes don't detract from the experience of ME1 since I'm not even particularly curious about them.

ME3 on the other hand? The changes pretty much destroy the trilogy form a story standpoint..

As in switch between which one of your squad you are playing as on the fly a la Dragon Age 2 (I think? Never played it except the demo)?

Because I'd have played the whole thing as Garrus...right up until the crucible then I'd have switched to Kaiden :P

Second video shows they had the means to do so but didn't, thus proving that from the very first game there has been at least 1 major bad call.

I assumed that things were cut b/c they would have exceeded the storage limit for 2 Xbox 360 discs. My understanding is the game as it stands fills up the 2 discs. They could have put it on 3 discs, but probably didn't want to go there. I wonder if there would have been more content if the Xbox disc restrictions did not exist.

There were changes???!?

Yes, There Were Changes.

Anybody actually see the content cut from the first game, seems like a lot more than what mass effect 3 cut.

But not unexpected. There is enough material here to indicate a rushed product schedule, but :

1) BioWare/EA can never admit it because they have to face their stockholders and they would have to explain why they did so, which is a prime case of Corporate CYA if I've ever seen one.

2) it looks like we may have a possability of Prima Donna Lead Dev....or a Lead Dev force BY EA to rush the ending out (I will be fair to Casey).

3) An Ending DLC: This is an utterly aborrent concept to me. Why not make a complete story (yes, you heard me complete), and then as DLC, kinda like what they did for ME2. Side Story DLCs or equipment DLCs. That way you make a pleasing story with many varied endings and the DLC adds additional content to breadboard things out. You get to keep your reputation as a good game maker, the Fans are happy, Your bottom line is happy, and future prospects look bright.

Instead, you have an unmitigated disaster because someone rushed things.

*facepalm*

As far as I'm concerned, they just need to redo the whole Priority Earth mission and release it as DLC. Seeing all of this has depressed the hell out of me.

We have Turian-soldier animations from MP on disc, and Krogan as well - would'nt it be cool to take control of Wrex/Grunt, Garrus during the last push? Maybe when Shepard is limping toward beem, we could see them fighting husk's and other enemies, when Shepard limps in the background. "Stay down!"

It's unbelievable that they cut this, but left that awful star child in. Can we swap those, please?

So much wasted potential.

I would have liked to have chat with Geth Prime if geth and quarians work together :(

This is as disheartening as cutting Anderson's last words.

I'm probably deluding myself in wondering if any of it could make it into the extended cut.

BTW, Grunt catapulted into one of my favorite characters in ME3 after being subpar to me in ME2. These lines of his are epic.

Same here. I didn't care for him in ME2, but in ME3 he became my Shep's adopted Krogan manbaby <3

But he's exactly like in ME2.

Only got great mission he leads.

Not really.

In ME2, he comes across as little more than a meaty robot of destruction and hatred.

In ME3, he acts more like a "Krogan." He has a personality... doesn't just recite lines of war and fighting. And he has one of the best "goodbye" speeches on Earth.
