Story, Character Growth, Party Interaction.
All these things are featured elements in all Bioware games which is why Bioware is my favorite game developer. I eagerly anticipate virtually every game they develop. They haven't disappointed me yet.
What are you looking forward to the most in DA?

Character interaction. It's the strong point of most BioWare games. Romances too, even if it can be lumped in with interactions. I'll likely try them all before putting the game down. I'm particularly curious about the same-sex romances. Hopefully they'll be done a lot better than how Jade Empire and Mass Effect handled it.
Thirdly, the combat! Not enough RPGs have good tactical combat nowadays. The spell combos, how abilities can be used together for maximum effectiveness, flashy spell effects... all of it.

Playing another solid fantasy RPG. The last one I got my hands on was Fable. MMOs have taken too much of my time. Of course, tactical combat, story, character customization, and NPC interactions are what will (hopefully) make this a solid RPG.

Looking forward to playing a game that doesn't use dwarves as comic releif

Also:
- The story, of course. The Grey Wardens are fascinating.
- Good old-fashioned squad-based tactical combat.
- With my human noble warrior, picking up Dog and seeing how well they have pulled off the "magically enhanced wardog as a fully interactive party member" thing. (Just need to make up my mind about his name, damnit!)
- With my dwarven noble warrior, the interaction with Gorim and the political tension of the origin, especially as it relates to my PC.
- When I get around to playing multiple characters past the origins, finding out how they will be treated differently by the NPCs (joinable or not).
- Dragons! I love dragons, even when they are the enemy.
- Meeting Flemeth. She and Gorim are my favourite NPCs so far, beside Dog, and I really hope even my more morally upright characters will get along with her somehow.

I'm with the OP. The story is the most important part of any game. I'm looking forward to the political plots and backstabbing. There is nothing like a good war to bring out the worst in everyone.

Ya, I don't think I'm breaking the mold by my reasons either.
BioWare games have always been able to satisfy me on several levels. Obviously, very few will deny their great story-telling premise, but in turn I have always simultaneously enjoyed several other features of BioWare games.
For whatever reason, I feel the tactical piece of DA:O will be even more fufilling this time around - perhaps it is because the previews and reviews I have come across have all commented on the challenge it offers. This excites me.
Also, though it may just be promoters promoting (as you'd imagine they do!) they have also put it into my head that the companions will feel more fleshed out, the bantering will be more enjoyable and that in general they have evolved further in making the companions matter to us.
To me, more than anything - I am looking forward to a game that shows off the fact that BioWare has evolved further. Story, Gameplay, Characters and all. While I'm sure, undoubtly, people will expect too much and claim it was just hype or that it's just more of the same - but I'm sure to those who haven't overextended their expectations and are just generally in the habit of being "let down", they and I will be quite satisfied.

Like so many others here (it seems), I'm looking forward to the story. Not just the story, but seeing the DA:O setting fleshed out, which seems pretty kewl from what I've read/seen so far.
Finally, a good ol' fashioned fantasy setting that is not Forgotten Realms! Yay!

The combat. While story is a definite draw, I've played games recently with good stories. I haven't however played a game with the top down combat since Throne of Baal.

Granted many of you have mentioned things I'm looking forward, but in truth, I wanna see how they pull off the small things. How they immerse you in this world and make it seem like real, living, breathing world. Ranging anywhere from companion reactions, to side quests, to even something so subtle as the situational ambiance.
In other words, I want to see how they go about fleshing out this new world.

I couldn't narrow it down to one feature so I'll pick longevity. I played NWN1 for years and years (still do on occasion) due to the premium modules and all the great community made modules. I'm hoping DA provides years of entertainment as well.

Looking forward to all of it but beside that I am most looking forward to community content. NWN was great but some of the community stuff just blew the doors off everything, great story lines, mods, and gear. Hope the same thing happens with this, love downloading individually created mods.

For me it 6 different story lines, companions you can have in your group, making characters and what your pick throughout the game

Party interaction, story, sense of discovery, genuine surprises, quite a bit of humour, 4 vs 4(or more) battles, the spell system, crafting my character and getting an awful lot of enjoyment for a long time.

I'm looking forward to how your choices will impact on how the story unfolds. It was always frustrating in other games that you could make a "good" or "evil" choice and you would end up with the same reaction/consequence. I also didn't like how some classes restricted your choices (need to stay neutral to advance as a druid). I'm looking forward to staying within my character and seeing where that leads me.

Mmm...Mainly the story and character interactions (mainly the romances!). I love all of the different dialogue options and how your race/gender/past actions affect them. Plus the strategy aspects of the game.

Yep. Mostly just story and character development here. The game certainly seems epic. Oh and the exploration of this pretty world.
