Oh I also forgot to add the fact that EA has a policy that if server usage for a particular game falls below a specific percentage. They shut them down completely. I don't think ME will join them soon, but long time ago I do now recall seeing EA release a notice and a complete list of games they shut down last year I think. It included games like the older Maddens, Battlefield 2142, and older Need For Speeds that no one was using online anymore.

yup Saboteur just went down (or is going soon) a game that isn't online anyway and when it does you won't be able to use it's download content............
something for everyone to think about for the future state of gaming.....

This is escapism for me and that means away from everyone and everything real - I don't want others to be involved in my game! Leave me in peace to enjoy my SP RPG!!!!

The
author talks about the new EA mission to implement "online universes"
in all it's games, and specifically mentions ME3's Galaxy at War system.
In that part of the article, he says, "It isn’t necessarily about doing all of those secondary things to get
the best results, but the game certainly implies that it is."
I thought I should let him know that, in fact, it's not just implied but actually true.
Please read the article for my actual comment, as I'm not sure there may be issues with me posting it here.
I don't think so... but it's better to be safe than sor...er.. banned. *sigh*
(Don't worry, I don't rage or anything)

Yeah I don't get it either! I've tried MMO's ect and it's just not for me. I don't want to play with other people in a game and have to communicate with one or two idiots. I have to do that at work most days
After a hard days work, there's nothing like immersing myself in a SP RPG game.

Huh? Saboteur is a SP only game right? but did its server go down? Basically what you're saying is that you can't get DLC anymore for it, but can you still play the game itself?

Posté 02 mai 2012 - 09:26
on Xbox they patch games to support dlc but the Xbox only holds so many patches before it erases exsisting ones (I think it's 3?) but once the server is gone there's no patch to download meaning the DLC won't work from the sounds of it
The game itself should still work

As for on cache patches, I don't believe there's a limit of 3, As I've done this with more than 3 games without clearing my cache, ME3 included.
Im trying to remember the rule tho, how does it work? if a update patch is larger than 4 MB, then its saved as a title update on the HDD (or other mem) right? Skyrim and Fallout are good examples as their patches are 15-20 MB, which you can delete from mem.
But anything 4 and under won't show up as a file right? cache only? ME3s latest one is still 4.

Posté 02 mai 2012 - 11:12
and I think what you said about the 4mb rule is correct

No you don't have to clear your cache manually the xbox auto erases over it and you'll redownload the patch next time you play, at least I think thats how it works
and I think what you said about the 4mb rule is correct
Well as of late all games I had patches on cache are still there.
I guess when I play more games that need a 4 MB update it will start clearing itself out.

^^^^^^^^^^^ Yeah but thats an iOS version. I could care less less about iPOD i Pad whatever. I hate Apple...
IMO. lol.
Ditto, style over substance in everyway.
But EA's decision to just deactivate a paid for game, including the SP functionality, is worrying as hell, makes the origin spywar...I mean client much more threatening on the hard disk.

This is a concern for me too - like you I want to escape reality for a short space of time - this is one way I recharge my "reality batteries".

Why thank you!
Bioware definetly seem to have gone walkabouts on this and other issues by the look of it, face import also still not working for a lot of people - me included!
Just can't get my head round the "ignore it all" attitude they appear to have adopted.
Weird - don't they realise that we are not just their current customers but potentially their future ones as well?!

It was heartening to see your post on the other forum - I've not been able to visit often this week so it's good to see you and other fans keeping this topic alive - much appreciated.
You are so right - why on earth alienate the core fan base when it isn't necessary?
To wildly paraphrase a certain well-known address, I always thought of BW as "of the gamer, by the gamer, for the gamer."
Can you believe that's another week past!

So decided that I would raise the issue again on t'other forum - amazed it is still open if I'm honest - but all the time it is I'll keep posting and when they do lock it down... well I'll probably just start another one. Unless, of course, they give us a proper update on what is happening! Now wouldn't that be nice.

admits himself, via Twitter, that the Tech forums are for users helping
users and that Bioware devs don't have anything to do with them....

So what can we conclude about the way EA/Bioware views our issue?
Yup... stay classy guys....
