Have never played EO, but I'm considering it, and just wondering if many of you play it.

I used to play it but the concept never really caught on. If you like numbers, if you're eager to learn all there is to know about space navigation, exploration, establishing financial domination over other people... Then you might enjoy EVE. You might like it so much that it would become your second job.

Or your first, really serious job.

My brother was a huge EVE player, then he got hooked to ME3. So yeah the crossover can go both ways.

From what I hear, it's like paying to have a second job. Not for me.

I forgot to add: once you join a corporation (guild) you will experience some pretty intense moments with the fleets. I heard the large-scale combat was extremely epic. There are lots of Navy officers playing that game just for the thrill of the battle.

If you like games about spreadsheets, and I know someone of you do, you will love EveOnline.

With that said, there's some great game fiction. Shame it almost never makes it to the game.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I think I'd enjoy the game, but it's probably not a good idea for me to start up on a new time sink... I'll try DUST 514 on the PS3 when that comes out (it links into and interacts with the EO universe) and see if that changes my mind.

I played EO for a bit over 4 years. Most of the large scale fleet battles were lag-fests, and the actual combat was not particularly fun for me. But the highlight was definitely getting into a corporation with a good group of guys and girls. For being social, it's probably one of the best MMO's out there. Also, the audience tends to be older, since it's largely an intense number crunching exercise to maximize corporation and alliance funds and resources.

I used to play it, but I don't have the time for it anymore. It is probably the best MMO out there, but also the most time consuming.

On the plus side, the game is more difficult than most to learn, so you end up playing with a more intelligent and mature player base.

I used to play it, I think maybe before I ever played ME, it's OK for a passive experience, but it's so boring it's not funny. Most of the time you'll be going through up to 30 jump gates in real time just to shoot at some ore pirates or something. These journeys can take up to half an hour, I used to paint figures whilst I hopped in and out of hyperspace.

I prefer fantasy MMOs, but that's just my opinion.

I played EVE Online for about 6 months when I was in highschool (about a year before ME1 came out)... I co-founded a pirate corp with a friend, signed 10 other players on to help with our raids. Didn't devote 100% of our free time to running the company, learned the hard way when we bankrupted it due to bad investments (plus, half of our "employees" were hardly ever online).

It was fun while it lasted, but holy crap was it ever disappointing to see our hard work dissolve like that. In the end, EVE is just too much of a timesink (even though it's far and away the best MMO out there, imo).

Avatar taking out the reaper fleet with one doomsday would be awesome.

Never really got into EVE after the initial launch.

I have played just about every MMO under the sun for the msot part though. Some good, most boring. I still miss Old school SWG... and Vanguard for that matter.... both epic games in scope that never really caught on.... I really liked Sandbox style MMOs myself.

I've always been a bit of a crafter/trader when I play MMOs. So those two games were the bees knees to me.
