If you get the synthesis ending, it is presented last; and Shepard asks, "and there will be peace." Then the catalyst says some crap about making a tough choice and Sheaprd says, "I don't know..."

The ending is so bad it's almost funny. Throughout the series Shepard talks back to the council members, Udina, Saren, Sovereign, TIM, Harbinger, the list is huge. But when he faces Starchild his spine is suddenly gone. I blame Harbinger, that laser that shot him in the face must've melted his spine.

Shepard's actually thinking... "Unf***ingbelievable!!! Five years.... I've fought this war five f***ing years. I promised (Liara blue babies/Tali a house on the homeworld/whatever and) to make things safe for the future, and this... I get to choose from this ****??!!! Electrocute myself and watch over the reapers for eternity; jump into the beam of light that makes this f***'s eyes light up with glee, or just destroy the reapers, but in all cases blow up the mass relays which probably kills everyone. Give me a f***in' break. And this gun. It's selective on what it shoots. I'd blow my brains out to end this nightmare, but it probably wouldn't work. So I can't have any of that? No happiness. None of my friends can have any happiness. No hope. Nothing. I dunno. If this is it, I just don't f***ing care anymore. (looks at starbrat) I just know one thing. You going down mutha****a!"

I like how the Reaper Ghost's response to that question was total silence and Shepard gave up and was like "Heck with it" and just picked a color.
