Hello,

I am playing as a human / Rogue at level 12.  But somehow I am still getting hammered a lot to the point of frustration.  And I am no gonna go change the setting to 'easy'  but my character I put most my points to dexterity and constitution.

I seem to die, even with the attacks when traveling.  I hate the one specially being attacked by wolves.  Would you believe a bunch of wolves kick my whole group that easily???

Any suggestions on how I should setup my character on my next level up?

Get a tank or two in your party and have them use Threaten/Taunt. That will get the bad guys to attack them and you can backstab to your heart's content.

This is a party-based game. It's just as important to use the rest of your characters, as your own character is only 1/4 of the team.

So... who else are you using? How are you using them? What's going wrong that everyone is dying? Are you pausing and issuing commands? Are you using a mage to heal? Are you using potions to heal?

It is the tank thing. You have to use the other players as or nearly as effectively as your main character.

So, yeah, taunt with the tank. Also use crowd control, things that stun or freeze or sleep or what-have-you.

Edit: Oh, yeah, what armor you wear matters a lot also. Wear light armor only, as that produces less threat.

Man, I tried so many combination of characters,

liliana, wynn, shale

liliana, wynn, alistair

morrigan, alistair, sten

What sucks that Sten dies too easily as well as Alistair

And when I do the points on my char. I think I got more dex than anything else and still can't get enough hits on the enemy...

Make sure you've got a decent tactics setup. The default custom 1 setup will not work for very long after you pick up a character.

Why constitution wrong? Isnt it supposed to give more HP to the character to last longer in fights?

If you pile on the dex, they don't get hit as often and therefore don't need as many hitpoints.

But yes, as Taleroth said (I seem to be saying that a lot) make sure you have a good tactics setup.

Where can I find tactics suggestions on my type of character? And I still got lot of slots not open since I didn't use my skills on them to unlock them.

If you're playing your own character exclusively you generally don't have to worry about those much, but having Heal and a few sneaky rogue abilities to incapacitate opponents high up on the list is not a bad idea.

The big thing is the tactics for your party members. Your tanks need to be aggressive with some sort of ability mode on that attracts enemies to attack them.

Using Alistair as an example as a tank, get his Strength up first so he can wear some nice massive armor (Warden's and Blood Dragon from Soldier's Peak, if you got that). Then put 2/1 stats in Dex/Will, until his Will hits 20. Then go all out on Dex.
As for Talents, get Threaten first, then Taunt, then the shield talents up to Shield Wall, then Bravery.

Set his Tactics to Defender in the first dropdown menu, and Aggresive in the second (call him back manually if he charges the horizon!). Then make sure that he's got Self -> Any -> Threaten and Self -> Any -> Shield Wall active.
Then experiment with stuff like Self -> Surrounded by Two or more enemies -> Taunt and Vynne -> Being Attacked by Melee -> Shield Pummel.

Set Vynne (or your healer) to Alister -> Health >75% -> Regenerate and Alister -> Health >50% Heal. Experiment with stuff like Zevram -> Energy >25% -> Revujenate and stuff like that.

Give all your characters a defensive tactic as well, such as Self -> Being Attacked by Magic -> Spell Shield, Self -> Health >50% -> Feign Death or Self -> Being Surrounded by 2 or more Enemies -> Mind Blast etc etc etc.

Once you got a good setup, you barely have to control anyone but your main character.

Even as a rogue your going to have to dump points into strength I know it seems like you need everything cause in a moment your going to say if I do that I need high will power to compenstate. The reason you need to do this is you have to get some good armor on your character. I would without a second thought go for warden commander armor from the wardens keep download. If you don't have this hopefully santa will be kind.

Mythical red suited fellows aside this gives a bonus to stamina it also offers good protection making it a little less costly. You then need to get duel wielding swords as quickly as possible, I think this is just possible by level 12, if your now finding the dex and strenght and cunning requirements a little too much the mages tower can help.

Now you have star **** (tier 7 sword) the warden commander plate (it increases as you do with the use of merchants so its level appropriate) and hopefully a second good long sword you will find that dual striking and whirlwind allow you to cut through those wolves. Which isn't an easy encouter as you would think cause they do love to overwhelm.

Now anyone thats read this is probably thinking but you have just turned your rogue into a warrior in all but abilities and name. Very true and the reason for this is that as its your main you will be at point when creatures look for someone to attack, you don't have the luxuary of hiding at the back with a bow and light armor. Yes threaten and that will help to get them off you but as most mages can tell you all the threatern in the world doesn't stop that ogre pounding on you after you deal out massive damage while poor allister hiding behind a shield wall is barely harming it.

I'm guessing it's a tanking issue. Your tank must be the first person to die.

If you or any other party member die before the tank, that means either the tank is not doing his job properly, or you charge into the battle to early. You should let all enemies go to your tank before you start doing damage.

When I played a rogue, my party was almost exclusively Alistair, Sten, and Wynne. Why take Lil or Zev with you? Sten's a damage sponge and though he only swings about once an hour, he does massive damage with that one hit. The only other choice I'd consider is Morrigan. What's your spec? Duelist/assassin worked great for me, and focusing on Dual Blades.

Crowd control is also key. Entropy school has a lot of area crowd control like sleep and mass paralyze.

Don't put any points into constitution as a rogue. Get enough strength to wear the armors you want, then put everything into Dex and Cunning. My ratio was usually 2dex, 1cun.

For the wolves...they should be pretty simple. Focus fire and don't get nailed by traps.

The wolves only have 1 really mean power and that's Overwhelm, where they tackle a character to the ground and chomp on them.

Always have a stun or knockdown ability ready for this. As soon as they do it...shield bash or dirty fighting.

You can even set up a tactic for this:

Enemy: Status: Grabbing -> Use ability: Shield Bash/Pommel Strike/Dirty Fighting

You want to use the quick ones. Sure Assault also stuns, and Overpower can knockdown at the end, but they go through a long animation sequence before the attack that would provide the stun/knockdown kicks in. In that time your friend is still being chewed on. So go for the quick disables.
