Alright so I recently purchased the 'EA Value Games' version of this game and from what it says on the back of the box "Includes free additional content - face off against the horrific Batarians", however I'm unsure if the BDtS DLC was automatically installed right along with the game or if I still needed to manually download the DLC or something. If I look at the in-game DLC menu, nothing shows up, so can I assume it's not installed? Can someone enlighten me?

It doesn't appear that anyone still visiting here knows that. Bogsnot claimed the version you have was a really bad choice, with all kinds of problems, but he doesn't visit here any more. Why not try the Official Support at EA?

Is this Xbox or PC? It doesn't really matter so much because if you don't see it in the start menu's listing of DLC then it is either not installed or it is not installed correctly. If the latter is the case you should remove it and download and reinstall manually.
Anyway, to simply see if you have it or not; On PC, you can look in your C/Programsx86 folder - in the Mass Effect folder you should see a DLC folder - You will see one (or both if you have Pinnacle Station) of two folders in there called "DLC_UNC" and "DLC_Vegas". IIRC the UNC folder is for BDtS.
If it's Xbox you should see it in your Storage listing for Mass Effect.
