Yeah, I don't know why they decided to buff Proximity Mine for no real reason whatsoever. I was running with another Geth Infiltrator in a couple of Gold games, and we were both using Talons. It was a complete joke. With Bonus Power in Cloak, you can just spam Proximity Mine and obliterate virtually everything so quickly without worrying about grenade counts or setup abilities.

I've hit upon a build I prefer tbh.

Full cloak with the 1 power evolution.
Full proximity mine with the debuff
Geth plasma shotgun for charged cloak shots.

Full Fitness
Full network ai for the geth weapon bonuses

You can hold a charge, drop a proximity debuff mine and release the shot all without exiting cloak. If you choose you can just fire another couple shots with the normal cloak damage bonus..but tbh phantoms on gold rarely surely the initial prox/charge volley.

The buff to proximity mines has made it less of a glass cannon..more of an invisible cannon :P

I tried this melee build on silver and it was really great! Hoping to try it on Gold next time. Proximity mine is a hell of a life saver!

It's likely possible with a Shotgun Blade Attachment and the Martial Artist buff active.

Wrong. Melee alone cannot take out four shielded enemies reliably. One proxy mine fired in the midst of that same group staggers and debuffs them allowing for a quick melee instead of sitting there with button held down. It also helps to eliminate a turret and combat engineer in the same manner.

Yep, the GI is a beast. I scored about 150K yesterday in Reactor vs Cerberus, using a Mattock X. I use proximity mines to good effect, and this was before the radius buff.

The trick is to not hold down the melee button. If it takes multiple hits to kill, release the button and just do another heavy melee. You can spam it if necessary.

I wonder why the aggregate score is so low actually and one guy was playing as vanguard too. seems like lower than the solo scores I see and it shouldnt be with assist included. you sure someone didnt quite in those matches?

Sorry. It does read as ambiguous. You are right.

Regardless which method you use, fast tap or hold, proxy mines just make an already heavy melee better and often more survivable if there is one enemy slightly out of range.

The first build I did on GI was 5/6/6/3/6. It is a good build if you never want to use sniper rifles.

I run 6/5/6/6/3 now and more or less set the melee to situational. Since I usually run Claymore or GPS that last rank in cloak is not doing anything, but it allows me to use Black Widow when I want.

Proximity mines are necessary with this class no matter if you want to go shotgun, sniper rifle, or melee. You should have at least rank 5. If you play pure sniper then you can make the least flawed argument for dropping them, but you won't be quite as good as you would be with them.

As for all this nonsense about score, everyone above was teams were the others didn't kill any units. Hell, doesn't necessarily means the team didn't do anything, just that they can't finish the units off. I don't see how this is all that interesting considering an infiltrator in a game with other classes will usually have a disparately high score, unless there is a biotic in the game that is getting good detonations. As for the "total" team score, the reasons they are wildly different is due to differences in time on infinite spawn waves most likely.

Actually it does...

As well as Phantoms, Centurions, Hunters, etc.

You just have to have everything for melee including a stunner/blade and the Martial Artist bonus active (which is extremely easy to get...)

Obviously you don't play Gold.... so shut up.

Prox mine is too good to not get. It's either full claymore damage + prox mine or less claymore damage for melee prowess. I use prox mine every cloak cycle though.

if there is anything you should be dropping it is probably network AI.
headshot and weapon damage is trivial on infiltrators.

you might want weight depending on weapon setup
power damage is useful but like weapon damage, suffers from diminishing returns.

If you use your guns a lot, Proximity Mine will increase the damage of those guns by a multiplicative 20%. That's pretty huge.
